Thug Life faced tough competition with Akshay Kumar's 'killer-comedy' Housefull 5, especially in the North circuit.
Thug Life, the Mani Ratnam directorial action-drama featuring Kamal Haasan, despite huge hype among cine-goers, has failed to perform at the box office. On its sixth day, the film minted a total of Rs 1.75 crore across all languages net in India, as per sacnilk.com. It brings the film's total 6-day collection to Rs 40.95 crore, much less than the South star's last release, Indian 2 – also having an underwhelming box office collection. The film's downward graph is showing no signs of recovery in the coming days, marking its status as one of the biggest theatrical disasters for the iconic actor-director duo.
The film opened to a whopping Rs 15.5 crore on its first day, June 5, but the critic reviews and negative word of mouth from the audiences have significantly affected its collection.
Another major reason behind Thug Life's low collection could be the absence of a Karnataka release, due to a controversy after Kamal Haasan's statement regarding the Kannada language.
Notably, Thug Life faced tough competition with Akshay Kumar's 'killer-comedy' Housefull 5, especially in the North circuit, which also received backlash from the audience. Despite that, the multi-starrer comedy entertainer has successfully crossed the Rs 100 crore mark at the domestic box office.
Directed by Mani Ratnam and produced by Kamal Haasan himself, the film also features an ensemble cast including Trisha Krishnan, Silambarasan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Abhirami, Ashok Selvan, Joju George, Ali Fazal, Nassar and Rohit Saraf in significant roles.
Thug Life's plot revolves around Rangaraya Sakthivel, an elderly criminal seeking vengeance on those who have betrayed him, including his brother, his gang members, and Amar. It is also a story of betrayal and power struggles, with Sakthivel determined to destroy everyone he feels is threatening him. The film also explores a morally troubling subplot: Sakthivel's extramarital affair with social media influencer Indrani (Trisha Krishnan).
The film marked Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan's collaboration after a long wait of 37 years. The duo's last project with Nayakan was released in 1987.
Kamal Haasan will also be seen in director Shankar's Indian 3 and Kalki 2898 AD Part 2, while Mani Ratnam has not yet announced his next directorial project.

Aishwarya Rai refused to work with Aamir Khan in this blockbuster, earned Rs 400 crore, made Karisma Kapoor superstar; Movie is...

Aishwarya Rai and Aamir Khan—two titans of Indian cinema—have only shared screen space once, in Mela (2000). But that wasn't supposed to be their only collaboration. They were almost cast together in not one, but two significant films: Raja Hindustani (1996) and Mangal Pandey (2005). Director Dharmesh Darshan opened up about the missed opportunity in Raja Hindustani, a film that later went on to become a blockbuster. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, he recalled, 'She was also my first choice for the role of Memsaab in Raja Hindustani (1996). My heart was with her. But she urgently had to go for Miss World. I didn't want to take any chances, as I wanted an actress who could devote her full time to the film and Bollywood. It was her sheer grace that she didn't hold it in her heart.' Meanwhile, another near-collaboration—this time in Josh—was sidestepped by a casting misread. Director Mansoor Khan said, 'I was intending to cast Aamir as the romantic lead opposite Aishwarya. But when I narrated the script to Aamir, he thought he was playing Max. Then I went to Shah Rukh; he was excited about Max. I narrated it to him; he suggested a lot of things for Max's character.' Raja Hindustani earned Rs 76.34 crore worldwide, including a domestic gross of Rs 73.84 crore. Its domestic nett was Rs 43.15 crore, and its adjusted worldwide gross is equivalent to Rs 400 crore. While these cinematic what-ifs remain part of industry lore, real-life speculations are currently casting a shadow over Aishwarya's personal life. Rumours of a split with Abhishek Bachchan have been circulating, especially after the Bachchan family's silence on Aishwarya's birthday this November 1st. Amidst the noise, an old interview with Filmfare has resurfaced, where she spoke about the reality of relationships behind the glamour, 'There's a lot of adjustment, a lot of give and take. There will be agreements and disagreements. But it's important to keep the communication going. That's something I've always believed in.' From missed roles to muted wishes, Aishwarya's timeline reads like a series of graceful exits—both scripted and unscripted.

5 hints from Rockstar's GTA 6 website that confirm the presence of influencer mechanics in GTA 6

(Image via Rockstar Games) GTA 6 isn't just about shootouts, heists, and car chases anymore; it's shaping up to reflect the world we live in today. And that world includes influencers, viral content, and social media fame. Rockstar's character reveal of Real Dimez, the bold rap duo signed to 'Only Raw Records,' strongly hints that GTA 6 may introduce influencer-style gameplay mechanics. Here are 5 clues that suggest social media stardom could be part of your next criminal empire. 1. Real Dimez Got Famous from Viral Videos The official Rockstar description says it loud and clear: Real Dimez rose to fame through viral videos and spicy rap tracks. That language points to a gameplay system where going viral might actually matter. If they can build clout through content, maybe players can too, through missions or mechanics tied to views, likes, or trending content. Who Are REAL DIMEZ? EVERYTHING We Know So Far 2. 'All My Dimes in This Club' Real Dimez aren't just rappers; they're strategists. Their quote, 'Meet my twin, make it a dub,' is more than just a catchy bar; it reflects how they use image, identity, and presence to control a crowd. That suggests a gameplay loop involving performance or audience manipulation, where the right outfit, act, or post could give you real in-game power or money. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo 3. Dancers as A&Rs? That's Viral Marketing Dre'Quan, who manages Real Dimez, says: 'Dancers are like my A&Rs. If the record's a hit, DJs gonna be spinnin' it.' That flips traditional marketing on its head and could hint at a GTA 6 system where clubs, music, and social feedback create momentum. We could be getting a gameplay where your content spreads because the right people push it like dancers, DJs, influencers. 4. 'Signed to Only Raw Records' Means Music Meets Marketing Now that Real Dimez are signed, they're no longer just hustlers; they're a brand. Their arc could mirror influencer progression in the game: start from the streets, build a following, sign to a label, then dominate Vice City's music and nightlife scene. If Rockstar builds on that, players might get to manage an online persona, track engagement, or unlock opportunities through popularity. They're One Hit Away From Fame Rockstar closes Real Dimez's bio with this line: 'They're one hit away from fame.' That feels like a callout to the player. Whether you're making music, streaming crimes, or causing mayhem in a way the internet loves, GTA 6 might let you 'go viral' not just as flavor text, but as an actual progression mechanic. GTA has always evolved with the times. From bank robbers in GTA V to possible influencers in GTA 6, Rockstar seems ready to satirize today's fame-hungry culture. Real Dimez aren't just side characters — they may be the clearest sign yet that GTA 6 will let players chase clout just as hard as cash.
