Livvy Dunne breaks silence after being slammed for 'terrible' attempt at iconic Kentucky Oaks tradition

Daily Mail05-05-2025

After being roasted over the coals for her 'awkward' contribution to a Churchill Downs tradition, former college gymnast Livvy Dunne is responding to her critics.
Dunne, the content creator and swimsuit model, was on hand for Friday's running of the 2025 Kentucky Oaks - one of the top horse races for fillies in the United States traditionally held the day before the Kentucky Derby.
Dunne was asked to give the call for 'Riders Up', but appeared to struggle through her lines.
She posted a TikTok showing off her wardrobe for the event and responded to a comment saying her version of the call 'was a tough watch'.
'I couldn't hear myself because of the echo of the microphone ,' Dunne, 22, wrote, adding a crying emoji.
Another commenter wondered 'Why are people so mean to you?' to which Dunne simply replied 'yes'.
Earlier in the day, she gave fans a glimpse of the all-pink outfit she wore to the race on Friday
Dunne appeared to be reading off a teleprompter, paused between her words, and may have talked with her hands a bit too much.
After finishing, the camera lingered on her for a few seconds too long as the crowd offered no support and Dunne looked off camera and appeared to cringe through the malfunction.
But regardless, she arrived in style in a gorgeous pink dress with rose detailing on the shoulder straps. That was paired with a unique headpiece, as is common at Churchill Downs.
The following day, she switched up her attire with a white dress covered in black polka dots and a black mesh trim that she wore to the racecourse.
To complete the look, she also matched it with a white hat with a black bow on top and a luxury Chanel bag.
Simone Biles and Aaron Rodgers were also among the big names at Saturday's Kentucky Derby.
Biles was given the chance to do the 'Riders Up' call for the Derby after Dunne, but she too was criticized on social media.
The 151st edition of the historic race was won by Sovereignty, followed by Journalism in second and Baeza in third.
Dunne revealed last week that her gymnastics career is over after LSU's national title bid ended in defeat.
'Gymnastics, you have filled my heart and shaped be a part of me,' she said in a video put together by LSU.

Miley Cyrus heckled for ‘scamming' fans at premiere – but supporters hit back

Miley Cyrus' highly anticipated film premiere took a chaotic turn when a furious fan heckled the singer, sparking a storm of viral backlash and online debate. The pop superstar appeared at New York's Beacon Theatre on June 6 for the world premiere of Something Beautiful, a visual album and cinematic companion to her latest record. The hour-long film debuted as part of the Tribeca Film Festival, with Cyrus joined on the red carpet by her creative collaborators and her mother, Tish Cyrus. 'Everybody say 'dysfunctional!'' Miley joked to photographers, posing in a sheer beaded gown as fans gathered to celebrate what was billed as a 'one-of-a-kind pop opera.' However, not everyone in the sold-out audience was clear on what they'd signed up for, so things became even more dysfunctional than Miley had imagined. In a now-viral clip circulating online, a woman in the crowd can be heard yelling: 'We thought this was a concert! We paid $800! Are you actually going to sing?' Handling the moment like a true pro, Miley then launched into an acapella rendition of The Climb. But not everyone was appeased. Other frustrated attendees echoed that sentiment online, claiming they'd been misled into believing the premiere would feature a live performance. 'You scammed us,' wrote TikTok user @catherinegattii. @mitchsipstea added: 'Should've made it more clear prior that it was a film (if you can even call it that). Never felt more scammed paying hundreds for something that was basically a marathon viewing of music videos. Something Beautiful? Something Scammy?' @bhawes99 shared their experience: 'Miley, I flew with 2 daughters from Houston, thinking we would see you perform. This trip is thousands of dollars. This was advertised as a CONCERT. This was a rip off. I want my money back and an apology. FALSE ADVERTISING X100! All the people in the lobby were angry at being scammed.' However, many fans quickly rallied to Miley's defense, blaming the backlash on poor reading comprehension. @TasteOfESV fumed on X: 'This actually pissed me off so bad… how dare you disrespect MILEY CYRUS at her own event bc YOU didn't read what you were buying a ticket for?? She has no obligation to entertain you ungrateful people.' @TheMileyCyrusHQ added: 'The thing is after my experience with the rude fans at Chateau, I would have literally stood up and told her to shut the fuck up. Like I can't take it anymore. Let's normalise Chappell Roaning.' More Trending @MBC0801 posted under a clip of the heckler: 'Explain to me how u thought a film premiere was a concert.' To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video @xan_jpeg agreed: 'How did they get concert from anything in the promotional materials?' In fairness, the ticketing page did clearly state: 'Fueled by fantasy, Something Beautiful is a one-of-a-kind pop opera featuring thirteen original new songs from the Something Beautiful album. After the Premiere: An exclusive conversation with Miley Cyrus.' Hopefully, after a rocky premiere event, it'll be smooth sailing as the film hits cinemas in the US. Got a story? The young mother, who calls herself Bonnie and lives in a council property, shared a short clip on social media and wrote: 'I've ran out of Universal Credit, donate to my GoFundMe.' Clapping back to taxpayers, Bonnie filmed herself cleaning her filthy kitchen sink and said: 'I might be a single mum on Universal Credit, but at least I'm not dumb. 'You lot literally have to work 40 hours a week to get half of what I get - I literally get given £4,000 a month from the government.' While Bonnie asked trolls to 'stop putting hate' in her comments, she showed off her messy home and slammed: 'If it wasn't for you lot working full time and paying taxes, I would not even have these grey Tommy Hilfiger leggings.' But moments later, in response to a comment that accused her of lying about her Universal Credit payments, which are given to UK residents with a low income or those who need help with their living costs, Bonnie shared a screenshot of what she claimed to be her most recent payment - a hefty £4,320.98. In response to the hater, who blamed her for spreading 'rage bait' content online, Bonnie said: 'Why would I lie? That's what I got paid like two weeks ago. 'Don't be jealous because I get given double what you earn in a month - I practically get your monthly wages in a week.' On Bonnie's profile, she has since shared a link to her GoFundMe page, whereby she is asking the public to donate to her boob job fund. She has an ambitious target of £2,200 and at the time of writing, had raised just £10 thanks to two donations.
