Pacquiao held to draw by Barrios in world title return
Barrios, 30, retained his belt despite being dominated for several rounds by Pacquiao, making a comeback to the ring after a four-year retirement.
Barrios was awarded the fight 115-113 by one judge, with the other two cards scoring it 114-114.
The result drew a subdued reaction from the MGM Grand Garden Arena crowd, who had roared on Pacquiao during a cagey, hard-fought contest.
At times, it seemed as if Pacquiao was poised to write another improbable chapter in his 30-year professional career as he used all of his guile and experience to frustrate Barrios.
But Barrios rallied furiously over the final three rounds -- he was deemed the winner of those rounds on all three cards -- to do just enough to force a result that sees him retain his title.
"I thought I won the fight," Pacquiao said afterwards. "I mean, it was a close fight. My opponent was very tough. But it was a wonderful fight.
"I was trying to find a way to finish the fight but my opponent was so tough. He threw punches in combination and with defense, so it was hard."
Barrios, meanwhile, felt he had done enough to deserve the draw.
"I thought I pulled it out," Barrios said. "But I still tip my hat to Manny. It was an honor to share the ring with him, somebody with so much experience who has accomplished so much in this sport. We left everything in the ring, nothing but love and respect."
Barrios admitted he had been awed by Pacquiao's remarkable reserves of energy and stamina.
"That's crazy -- his stamina, he can still crack and he's still strong as hell. His timing, his rhythm, everything. He was still a very awkward fighter to figure out," he said.

Barrios said he had been made aware that he needed to up his workrate to force the result over the closing rounds.
"I knew I had to step it up to try to and solidify a win," Barrios said.
"I was really pressing him, trying to make him feel old. But he has some good legs -- a lot of the tank and a lot of fight left in him.
Pacquiao, meanwhile, said that he hoped to continue fighting, and would be open to a rematch with Barrios.
"Of course, of course," he replied when asked if he wanted to continue his career and face Barrios again.
"That's the only legacy that I can leave behind -- to give inspiration to the Filipino people and to be proud wherever you are."
Barrios, for his part, added he was open to facing Pacquiao again.
"I would love to do it again," he said during a ring interview.
Pacquiao, whose last win came in 2019, had been regarded as a heavy underdog against his taller, rangier opponent from Texas.
But the Filipino eight-division champion, one of the most beloved fighters of the era, showed little sign of being troubled for long periods.
Fighting in flurries and landing crisp combinations throughout, Pacquiao consistently looked the busier fighter during the early and middle rounds.
Barrios, by contrast, appeared tentative, reluctant to risk going toe-to-toe early on against the experienced Filipino.
Yet for all of Pacquiao's craft, he was unable to seriously hurt Barrios, who regrouped impressively in the later rounds to connect with several jabs and do just enough to force the draw.

'I thought the strategy that they had coming in, how he fought long, he really used his length early. He was tremendous, a really good win for him and I don't think anyone else in the division beats him now.' The tallest world champion in all of boxing, standing at 197cm and boasting a massive reach advantage over his rivals, Fundora didn't allow Tszyu to get to him without being exposed himself. Still, Rose maintains Tszyu can climb the mountain again - if he wants to. 'First and foremost, he needs to just recover from this, go through your process of facing defeat,' Rose said. 'You've got to go through your moments with that, and then it's a decision for him. 'He's still, as far as talent and capability goes, very much a very capable fighter, a very talented fighter, and I still think that he still beats most of the guys in the division on his night. 'It's just a decision up to him as to what he's going to do, whether he gets back in the gym on Monday, whether he has a break, what he does.' Rose insists it's too early to speculate about whether or not the 30-year-old will fight on, having lost three of his past four bouts after going unbeaten in his first 24. 'In this sport, a loss is a long time that you've got to deal with that for,' said the former premiership-winning NRL prop. 'It's not a one-week thing like most team sports where you can move on within a week. 'A lot's got to happen on the back of it. Firstly, you've got to go medically. Conor McGregor's fiancee Dee Devlin ‘clearly not happy' after MMA star's latest indiscretions
Dee Devlin is 'clearly not happy' with Conor McGregor despite standing by his side amid scandals, an insider claimed. In the past week, the MMA star has been snapped snogging a mystery brunette on a Florida beach before enjoying a cosy dinner with her, and US rapper Azealia Banks accused him of sending her unsolicited 'd*** pics'. And, in November last year a jury found the father – who shares four children with fiancee Dee – had sexually assaulted Nikita Hand. Ms Hand was awarded almost $450,000 in damages after the jury ruled she was attacked by the UFC fighter McGregor at the Beacon Hotel in December 2018, The Sun reports. Dee was photographed walking side-by-side with her husband-to-be on the court steps throughout the civil case. Then in January this year, McGregor faced fresh allegations after a woman accused him of raping her in a VIP bathroom at the Kaseya Center in 2023. McGregor denied the allegations. The alleged attack took place after Miami Heat's NBA Finals game against the Denver Nuggets on June 9. Florida prosecutors, however, declined to pursue criminal charges for the alleged assault with the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office, citing insufficient evidence in the case back in October 2023. Despite this, loyal fiancee Dee has remained supportive of the MMA star. On his 37th birthday last week, just a day after pictures emerged of McGregor kissing a woman on the beach, Dee shared a loved-up tribute to her man. Dee uploaded a post on her Instagram story from a fan account which read: 'Happy Birthday to the person who always keeps Dee entertained and makes her smile.' Putting on a united front, she also posted a series of photos of herself and the fighter beaming together. But an insider told the Mail: 'We are being told to believe that this is a happy, loving relationship behind all the headlines. 'I think a lot of things clearly point to the fact that she is not. 'From early on in the relationship, she has had a great deal to cope with. I would be very concerned with how much she can take.' A source also told The Sun: 'Dee is incredibly loyal and Conor knows that. 'She is often there with him behind the scenes, but just not in the limelight. He has also made it very clear he is bankrolling her now, which plays a huge part in the dynamic of their relationship – and makes it almost impossible for her to leave.' They added: 'She quietly accepts his behaviour and because she's been there from the beginning, she's always willing to move on. 'She'll stick with him, even if he pushes her loyalty in return.' In light of Dee's never-wavering public shows of support, relationships expert Jo Hemmings told The Sun she is 'addicted to his chaos'. Although, she did warn there will be a 'tipping point' when she's 'reluctantly forced to leave' and it may be the close pals of Conor – who she dubs a 'bloody car crash' – that play a big part in it. 'What's interesting is it's third person, she reposted probably one of the nicer things someone could say about Conor, instead of 'what the hell is she doing with this fool,'' she says. 'To call what she's gone through 'entertainment' suggests she enjoys there never being a dull moment with him and that she feeds off there being jeopardy every step of the way. 'She doesn't want the dull and predictable, she's addicted, almost addicted to him. But it's getting to the point where her hand is being forced and she could be coerced into leaving him.' 'The problem is these things tend to take on a force of their own,' she tells us. 'Because there is a picture, not rumour or speculation, he will be scrutinised to the point of no return. 'Dee may be pushed into a situation, reluctantly, where it's no longer good for her mental health to stay with him. The more it gathers pace, the more likely her hand will be forced. It comes after he was seen smiling and snapping pics with Dee aboard the luxury yacht off the coast of Italy. Pictures from his luxury yacht trip in Italy show the MMA fighter sparring and soaking in the sun alongside Dee. In moments, Conor could also be seen gently patting his partner on the bum on the expensive boat, which was adorned with balloons in the colours of the Irish flag. Dee is yet to comment on the mystery women seen with her fiance, and the allegations made by US rapper Azealia Banks. The 212 hit maker shared explicit photos that allegedly show the UFC brawler on X, alongside his threat 'don't be a rat cos (sic) all rats get caught'. While Dee – who's dated Conor for 17 years – hasn't broken her silence, but she's weathered even more sensational accusations levied against him in the past.
