Ever since its launch in 2004, Reddit has been a platform where anyone can have a voice. While it rose to popularity in 2011, Reddit for many is a social media platform where they can go for advice on various topics from personal life to professional faux pas and even to get a real opinion on the news of the world.
While it has had a steady and loyal forum of users for the past many years, in order to enhance its brand value and reputation, the site has recently announced legendary cricketer
Sachin Tendulkar
as its brand ambassador. The God of
Cricket
who is loved by people across the world, seems to be the perfect icon to aggregate audiences who love him, cricket and its discussion.
In a statement, the company confirmed that Reddit users will now get exclusive opportunities to engage with the former cricketer in Reddit communities.
Additionally, he will also be sharing his own thoughts, insights and exclusives on his official Reddit profile.
'For me, cricket has always been about that pure connection with people, on and off the field. In getting to know Reddit, what stands out is the sheer passion that brings its communities together" said Tendulkar in a statement.
'I'm especially looking forward to discovering conversations on r/IndiaCricket and r/IndianSports.

It's a unique platform where people truly share what they love. This association gives me an opportunity to connect with fans in new ways and celebrate our shared love for sports,' he added.

Sachin Tendulkar is one of the most followed cricketers on social media. He had a whopping 50.8 million followers on
Instagram
and 40.8 million followers on X (formerly Twitter)
Thus, the announcement that he is the brand ambassador of Reddit and is going to officially join the platform has many surprised and excited.
Social media users erupted with funny memes and reactions to the announcement.
"Welcome to the Dark side GOAT" wrote a person on Reddit, welcoming the legendary cricketer to the platform.
"he gonna see way too many arjun Tendulkar memes" quipped another one.

One Reddit user actually had an interesting take on the inclusion of the former cricketer on the platform adding that he would bring with him the 'WhatsApp uncles' from whom people ran and joined Reddit.
"Already the interactions in the city sub reddit has turned into whatsapp uncles coming on. We ran from facebook due to that. Then Instagram and now looks like reddit is next" they wrote.
On X, people are excited to see what Tendulkar will post on Reddit, with some asking him to 'drop tea' on various topics.
"he needs to drop some tea on the team" commented an X user, "Sachin is promoting reddit - I ve seen it all." added another.
"we got sachin tendulkar as reddit brand ambassador before GTA 6" one pointed out.
Comic Sonali Thakker was one of the few who seemed disappointed with the decision, writing on X, "Man, sachin becoming the brand ambassador for Reddit is gonna make it fully mainstream. I'm not big on this."

Viral Video: Delhi Man's Breakfast Invitation At A Stranger's Home In Bengaluru Turns Into A Hearty Encounter

Sometimes, the simplest meals come with the most unexpected stories. In a video that's been winning hearts online, a Delhi-based content creator sets out to experience a slice of local life in Bengaluru by asking a stranger if he could join them for breakfast. Approaching a woman, he says with a smile, 'Namaskar aunty, I wanted to ask, I'm from Delhi and I want to have local food from here. So, is there any way I could have breakfast at your place?' The video, captioned 'POV: I asked a stranger in Bangalore to invite me for breakfast,' captures the spontaneity of the moment and the warmth with which the stranger responds. What follows is a relaxed, homely meal that reminds us how food can open doors, start conversations and bridge differences. As the woman pauses to confirm if the Delhi visitor truly wants to join them for breakfast, his face lights up with joy. 'Yeah, yeah, I wanted to have like local, homely food here,' he replies. Moments later, a man appears, and the visitor politely asks, 'Can we come?' The next scene invites viewers into the couple's dining area. He then introduces himself and his friend to their kind hosts, and the atmosphere quickly shifts into one of relaxed conversation and friendly banter. 'The people are too sweet in Bangalore. Let's see,' he remarks, as the host shows two breakfast plates filled with local favourites. What's served is a wholesome, homely meal — a purple, dough-like ball, likely ragi mudde or a similar millet-based dish, accompanied by a light-coloured chutney and a portion of aloo sabji. One bite in, and the young guest can't contain his delight. 'Oh my God. It's so good. Thank you so much,' he says. What makes the moment even more touching is what the elderly host shares next: 'I have been waiting for someone to come. We are happy that we have met a musician today. I want you to excel in whatever you do.' Before leaving, the guests take a few photos and receive the couple's blessings. The video, captioned 'Divided by languages, united by food,' has resonated with many online, celebrating not just a meal but the quiet magic of hospitality and the simple joy of sharing a table with strangers. One user commented, 'If someone gives you ragi mudde then you're at the rightest place there can ever be.' Another comment read, 'Ragi mudde, true Kannadiga, atithi devo bhava.' 'So wholesome! Both the food and video,' read another comment. In a world where most viral food trends focus on what's on the plate, this encounter stands out for something more special — the connection that happens around it.

Gill, the new No 4 for India

CHENNAI: The No. 4 position in Test cricket is the format's holy grail. Sure, there were a few great pre-War No. 4s (Denis Compton and Wally Hammond) but the idea of a No. 4 being one of the side's best bats was a more modern phenomenon with its roots around the late 1980s. Sachin Tendulkar is of course the gold standard. He scored 13,492 runs in that position, almost 4000 clear of Mahela Jayawardene another giant who had made the No. 4 his postcode for 15 years. Out of the top 13 run-scorers in the format's history, seven have had an extended run in that position. From an Indian perspective, the No. 4 has played a big role in multiple ways. Batsmanship, leadership, charismatic figures, the biggest egos in the room as well as tasked with the role of selling all kinds of consumer goods to the hoi polloi. Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, Gundappa Viswanath, Dilip Vengsarkar... India's batting royalty have all featured in this position. In fact, in India's maiden Test back in 1932, the captain was somebody who came out to bat at No. 4. CK Nayudu, an Indian cricketing aristocrat who wore several hats. This crash course in the history of the No. 4 is a roundabout way of saying why Shubman Gill is the next cab of the No. 4 rank. "I think there's still a discussion going on for No. 3," vice-captain Rishabh Pant said in a press conference two days before the beginning of the five-match Test series against England on Friday. "But No. 4 and No. 5 are fixed. Shubman is going to bat at No. 4, and I'm going to stay at No. 5 as of now." There is one big difference, though, between Shubman and almost everybody who made the No. 4 their own. Most of the others weren't in leadership roles when they assumed the No. 4. They were all fairly early into their careers. They didn't have the pressure of expectation on their shoulders when they were asked to walk out at No. 4.
