No serious injuries in train-semi crash in rural Manitoba, RCMP say
Police said a semi travelling west on Highway 23 wasn't able to stop at a train crossing on time, so the driver swerved into the ditch to avoid a crash.
A second semi, this one hauling gravel, crashed into the back end of the train and caught fire.

The driver of the first truck, a 57-year-old RM of Montcalm man, was taken to hospital as a precaution, while the second driver, a 53-year-old Winnipegger, wasn't injured.
RCMP say heavy fog conditions were a contributing factor in the incident, and that the train continued on its route. A stretch of Highway 23 remains closed due to debris and damage to the roadway until the province can repair it.

Stolen gun, drugs, cash found after Fraser Valley traffic stop: RCMP
A handgun and cash are shown in this photo provided by the Upper Fraser Valley Detachment of the RCMP. Mounties who pulled over a driver with no insurance early Wednesday morning ended up arresting three people and seizing a loaded handgun, drugs, cash and cellphones. An officer pulled the vehicle over around 3 a.m. near the intersection of Yale Road and Hazel Street in Chilliwack, according to authorities. 'When the member stopped the vehicle there were three occupants inside. As the member was conducting the traffic stop, he observed other arrestable offences, and all three occupants were arrested and removed from the vehicle,' a spokesperson for the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment wrote in a statement. A search of the vehicle found 'bulk quantities of drugs,' $18,000 in cash, a number of cellphones and a prohibited firearm, police said. The gun was found to have been stolen from a home in Northern B.C. in 2023, Mounties added. 'This investigation is ongoing. Multiple judicial authorizations will be done, firearms tracing, drug expert reports, and drug analysis are just some of the things that will be required to get this investigation to where charges can be laid,' the statement from the detachment said.

Osoyoos RCMP determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol and was issued an immediate 90-day roadside suspension. 'It looks like he went off the road, he either fell asleep or whatever, realized he was off the road and I guess he over-corrected,' Ron Hiller, whose dashcam filmed the incident, told Global News. Story continues below advertisement 'He came skidding down sideways, right at me. I had to swerve last second there, or I wouldn't be here right now, I don't think. We were both doing pretty, well, highway speed.' Hiller said the driver climbed out on his own with just a few scratches and began walking away until police arrived on the scene.
