Mangaluru: The department of chemistry and the Central Research Facility (CRF) at NITK Surathkal will hold a five-day National Symposium on Advances in Functional Materials for Energy and Catalytic Applications (AFMECA). It was inaugurated on Wednesday.In his inaugural address, Ajay Mehta, vice-president of Shell India, stressed the critical role of research and collaboration in fostering innovation. Highlighting challenges such as CO₂ conversion, industry electrification, and electric vehicle penetration, he emphasised the importance of forums like AFMECA in uniting experts to address pressing global issues. "This symposium is a vital platform for fostering new ideas and advancing research," Mehta remarked, advocating for collective efforts to develop impactful solutions through shared knowledge and technology.Kannan Srinivasan, director of CSIR-CSMCRI, Bhavnagar, Gujarat, in his address, lauded the symposium's theme and its focus on engaging young researchers. He highlighted the potential of youth to shape the future through advancements in science, technology, and collaboration. Noting the complexity of modern challenges, he stressed the necessity of disruptive thinking and unconventional perspectives in driving innovation. He emphasised the transformative potential of functional materials, catalysis, and molecular innovations, urging attendees to apply these technologies to solve real-world problems. Uday Bhat, dean of research and consultancy at NITK Surathkal, presided over the event.The symposium features 13 expert lectures by distinguished academicians and scientists from institutions including IIT Hyderabad, IIT Dharwad, IIT Ropar, NIT Calicut, IISER Tirupati, CSIR-CSMCRI, CSIR Karaikudi, VIT Vellore, and JNCASR Bengaluru, alongside five lectures delivered by experts from NITK Surathkal. Additionally, industry professionals will discuss advancements in energy transition, catalysis, and materials design, emphasising India's role in integrating scientific innovation with environmental and economic sustainability.

Those who wish to challenge any answer can do so by August 3, by paying a fee of ₹200 per question. This process marks an important step before the declaration of the final answer key and result for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and PhD eligibility. How to access the CSIR NET answer key Candidates who appeared for the CSIR UGC NET exam on July 28 can access the provisional answer key by: Visiting Logging in with application number and date of birth Selecting the "Display of Provisional Answer Key" link Reviewing the relevant documents and responses . Steps to challenge answer key To challenge any response: Click on 'Challenge Answer Key' after login Select the question(s) to dispute Upload supporting documents Pay ₹200 per question via online payment methods The deadline for raising objections is August 3, 2025 (5 PM). No challenges will be accepted after that. CSIR NET final answer key and result date Once the objection window closes on August 3, 2025 , at 5 PM, the National Testing Agency (NTA) will begin a detailed review of all the challenges submitted by candidates. Each objection will be carefully examined by a panel of subject-matter experts to determine its validity based on the supporting documents and evidence provided. If any discrepancies are found in the provisional key, corrections will be made accordingly. Following this expert review process, the final answer key will be released on the official website, and no further objections will be entertained after its publication. This final version will serve as the definitive benchmark for evaluation , based on which raw scores will be calculated , and subject-wise cut-offs will be determined. He was speaking after inaugurating a conclave on "New Vistas in Critical Minerals and Materials" organised by the CSIR-National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (CSIR-NIIST), here as part of its Golden Jubilee year. Narayanan lauded India's remarkable journey in space technology over the past five decades."India's space technology has advanced to such an extent that even leading global powers view it with admiration," he was quoted as saying in an official said that indigenous developments in high-strength stainless steel, advanced composites with low thermal conductivity, and other strategic materials signify the nation's increasing self-reliance. Narayanan called for a collaborative effort between CSIR and ISRO under the National Critical Minerals Mission to drive innovation and achieve technological sovereignty in the field of advanced stated that as the nation completes 77 years of independence, it has achieved significant progress in all sectors, including science and ISRO chairman noted that CSIR has made remarkable contributions to this progress. He praised CSIR's initiatives, ranging from ensuring food security to producing useful materials from remarked that the July 30 launch of NISAR, a collaborative satellite by ISRO and NASA, was a "historic milestone".He said it was "Indian knowledge and Indian experts" who were behind the launch vehicle, a GSLV the country began its space mission with launch rockets gifted by the US, today, India is progressing with equal partnership alongside developed nations, he inaugural session was presided over by Dr C Anandharamakrishnan, Director, CSIR-NIIST.
