Anthony Richardson injury news should worry Colts, according to NFL insider
The signs are bad for Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson, according to Sports Illustrated NFL insider Albert Breer.
The Colts shut down Richardson on the second day of last week's minicamp with soreness in the shoulder that he had surgically repaired in his rookie season of 2023.
The original injury occurred when he was tackled on a run against the Tennessee Titans. The team has said the current issue isn't from any hit but "stress over time." Richardson is expected to be examined by the doctor who performed the surgery two years ago.
"When you're talking about the soreness coming back in the shoulder and, no, hasn't had surgery yet, but he's going to have more opinions on it. It just gets you worried. I would take that very seriously," Breer said Monday on the "Rich Eisen Show."
"When it's a repeat, that's when it's like, 'Oh, boy.'"

The Colts signed veteran Daniel Jones in free agency on a one-year deal.
"There's a really good chance Daniel Jones is going to be the starting quarterback for the Colts in Week 1, and Anthony Richardson faces a lot of uncertainty going forward," Breer said.

In addition to that, linebacker is a position where the Colts are quite thin, at least in terms of experience. Beyond Zaire Franklin on the depth chart, Jaylon Carlies' 242 career defensive snaps are the second-most on the team. Despite the inexperience, throughout this offseason, GM Chris Ballard has remained confident in the Colts' linebacker room. 'It's a position we've been pretty good drafting and developing. I give our coaches and scouts a lot of credit for that," Ballard said earlier this offseason via the Indy Star. "Don't forget now, E.J. Speed, it wasn't like he came on right away. No, it took him a little time. Zaire Franklin did not come on right away. Great special team player but eventually became a linebacker that was a good player." Pratt was a team captain with the Bengals and totaled 140 tackles last season, along with forcing six total takeaways. However, his production in coverage, according to PFF's metrics, did take a step back. It has not been reported whether or not the Colts had any interest.
