Anthony Richardson injury news should worry Colts, according to NFL insider

The signs are bad for Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson, according to Sports Illustrated NFL insider Albert Breer.
The Colts shut down Richardson on the second day of last week's minicamp with soreness in the shoulder that he had surgically repaired in his rookie season of 2023.
The original injury occurred when he was tackled on a run against the Tennessee Titans. The team has said the current issue isn't from any hit but "stress over time." Richardson is expected to be examined by the doctor who performed the surgery two years ago.
"When you're talking about the soreness coming back in the shoulder and, no, hasn't had surgery yet, but he's going to have more opinions on it. It just gets you worried. I would take that very seriously," Breer said Monday on the "Rich Eisen Show."
"When it's a repeat, that's when it's like, 'Oh, boy.'"

The Colts signed veteran Daniel Jones in free agency on a one-year deal.
"There's a really good chance Daniel Jones is going to be the starting quarterback for the Colts in Week 1, and Anthony Richardson faces a lot of uncertainty going forward," Breer said.

Linebacker who played under Indianapolis Colts' DC Lou Anarumo signs with Raiders

Linebacker who played under Indianapolis Colts' DC Lou Anarumo signs with Raiders LB Germaine Pratt, who previously played under Colts' DC Lou Anarumo, has signed with the Raiders. Former Cincinnati Bengals' linebacker Germaine Pratt, who spent his entire six-year career up to this point playing with current Indianapolis Colts' defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, is reportedly signing with the Las Vegas Raiders on a one-year deal, according to Jordan Schultz. Pratt was released by the Bengals earlier this week, making him a free agent and able to sign with any team. For a few reasons, the Colts seemed like a logical fit. For one, there is the familiarity with Anarumo's scheme, which would not only make for a quick adjustment for Pratt, but having his experience in the meeting rooms and on the practice field during training camp could be valuable for other Colts' defenders as well. In addition to that, linebacker is a position where the Colts are quite thin, at least in terms of experience. Beyond Zaire Franklin on the depth chart, Jaylon Carlies' 242 career defensive snaps are the second-most on the team. Despite the inexperience, throughout this offseason, GM Chris Ballard has remained confident in the Colts' linebacker room. 'It's a position we've been pretty good drafting and developing. I give our coaches and scouts a lot of credit for that," Ballard said earlier this offseason via the Indy Star. "Don't forget now, E.J. Speed, it wasn't like he came on right away. No, it took him a little time. Zaire Franklin did not come on right away. Great special team player but eventually became a linebacker that was a good player." Pratt was a team captain with the Bengals and totaled 140 tackles last season, along with forcing six total takeaways. However, his production in coverage, according to PFF's metrics, did take a step back. It has not been reported whether or not the Colts had any interest.

Giants Flop Daniel Jones Could Steal Starting Job Amid Bad News for Colts' Anthony Richardson

Giants Flop Daniel Jones Could Steal Starting Job Amid Bad News for Colts' Anthony Richardson originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson is chasing medical opinions. Advertisement And that might leave Daniel Jones chasing the starting job. Richardson, has an AC joint issue in his throwing shoulder and so he is traveling to Los Angeles for a second opinion as he meets with renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache. A top-five pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Richardson is among the most physically gifted players on the planet. But a shoulder injury cut his rookie year short, and he didn't improve as a thrower in his second season. And now he's hurt. Enter Daniel Jones. The Colts signed Jones as insurance. ... or maybe something more. And now that Richardson has been scratched from minicamp. The former New York Giants quarterback Jones could "fall upward'' and win the Colts No. 1 job. Advertisement They did give Jones $14 million for the year, a hefty sum for a backup. And he was once New York's first-round pick and top QB. Did Daniel Jones flop badly in the Big Apple? That's the view of many critics ... though he was - just that one time - a playoff QB and a playoff winner, too, which is how he earned his one major payday in the NFL. Can he now plow forward and give the maybe-contending Colts (who play in the awful AFC South) stability at the game's most important position in a way that Richardson has not? As Indy waits and worries about Richardson's fate? That might be the Jones-related view, too.
