Five injured in serious two-vehicle crash in Hawke's Bay

Five people have been injured, one critically, in a serious two-vehicle crash in Clive in Hawke's Bay.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Mill and Richmond roads shortly before 9.30am on Sunday.
Fire and Emergency shift manager Murray Dunbar said two people trapped in one of the vehicles had to be cut free.
A St John ambulance spokesperson said five people were taken to hospital, one with critical injuries, while two patients were in a serious condition, and two others sustained moderate injuries.
Police remain at the crash site and said both roads were closed with diversions in place.

Three injured, one freed in serious crash near Blenheim
Photo: RNZ / Nate McKinnon A person has been cut from their vehicle in a serious crash that injured three people and closed State Highway 1 in Riverlands, south of Blenheim. New Zealand Transport Agency / Waka Kotahi said the highway between Riverlands and Redwood Pass remained closed at the Redwood Pass Road intersection following a crash in the early hours of Sunday morning. It said no detours were available and advised motorists to avoid the area. Emergency services, including a helicopter, were called to the accident at 12.15am. Fire and Emergency shift manager Blair Walklin said three crews attended and used hydraulic cutting equipment - the 'jaws of life' - to free one person who was trapped. A spokesperson for Hato Hone St John said two people with moderate injuries were taken to Wairau Hospital. A third seriously injured patient flown to Nelson Hospital.
