Mohsin Naqvi discusses issues of cross-border terrorism, TTP with his Afghan counterpart
Upon his arrival at the Afghan Ministry of Interior, Naqvi was warmly welcomed by Haqqani. The two ministers engaged in comprehensive discussions focused on strengthening bilateral ties.
They also addressed the challenges of drug trafficking, illegal movement across the border, and the repatriation of Afghan nationals residing illegally in Pakistan.

Both sides emphasised the importance of peaceful coexistence and stable, mutual cooperation between the two neighbouring countries. They agreed to enhance coordination to improve border security and eliminate threat of terrorism.
'Terrorist organisations are creating chaos and instability in the region,' said Minister Naqvi, adding that Pakistan and Afghanistan must work together to defeat this menace.
He reiterated Pakistan's commitment to maintaining fraternal and long-term relations with Afghanistan, noting the country's decades-long hospitality to Afghan refugees. 'Our doors remain open for the legal entry of Afghan citizens,' he added.
Pakistan, Afghanistan vow to strengthen security, address cross-border concerns
The meeting was attended by Afghanistan's Senior Deputy Minister of Interior Ibrahim Sardar, Pakistan's Special Representative for Afghanistan Mohammad Sadiq, Federal Interior Secretary Khurram Agha, and senior officials from both countries' interior ministries.
Earlier in the day, Minister Naqvi was received at Kabul International Airport by Afghan Deputy Interior Minister Mohammad Nabi Omari and other senior Afghan officials.
Naqvi's visit comes days after Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar's Kabul visit, as Pakistan is striving to deepen strategic and security cooperation with international partners.
During this visit, Dar called on Afghanistan's Acting Interior Minister Haqqani on Thursday, where the two sides held in-depth discussions on regional security cooperation and border management.
Both sides reaffirmed the importance of eliminating security threats in the region and emphasised the need for close cooperation to maintain peace and stability.
Dar stressed the critical importance of addressing all issues of concern, particularly related to security and border management, to unlock the full potential of economic cooperation and regional integration.

Vice chief of naval staff confers military awards upon Pakistan Navy personnel
Vice Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ovais Ahmed Bilgrami on Monday conferred various military awards upon Pakistan Navy personnel, including Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military), Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military), Tamgha-e-Basalat and Tamgha-e-Khidmat (Military). The vice chief of the naval staff graced the Pakistan Navy Investiture Ceremony (North) in Islamabad as the chief guest. On this occasion, Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) was awarded to Commodore Syed Muhammad Abbas Naqvi, Commodore Aamer Rasheed Malik, Commodore Kashif Elahi, Commodore Muhammad Afsar Khan, Commodore Rao Ahmed Imran Anwar, Commodore Dr Anwar Hussain, Commodore Shahid Ahmed, Commodore Raja Muhammad Nasir, Commodore Jawad Haider Khawaja, Commodore Muhammad Zahid Zaheer, Captain Jawad Malik PN and Captain Atif Aman Chughtai PN, the Director General Public Relations (DGPR) – Navy said. TTP terrorist 'behind Chinese engineers attack' killed in Karachi operation
Listen to article Three terrorists from banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), including one allegedly involved in last year's attack on Chinese engineers, were killed in a joint operation by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and intelligence agencies in Karachi's Manghopir area late Sunday night. On 5 November 2024, a private security guard at a textile mill in Karachi opened fire and seriously injured two Chinese nationals. According to police, deceased suspect, identified as Zafran, had a Rs20 million bounty on him and was accused of involvement in the 2024 Liberty Textile attack targetting Chinese nationals. He was also linked to the Karachi Police Office (KPO) assault. He emphasised that the protection of Chinese nationals remained a top priority, especially given ongoing China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects, vital to the bilateral relationship between the two countries. Police said terrorists opened fire when they spotted them approaching, triggering a gunfight that lasted over an hour. All three suspected terrorists were killed, said police, adding that a fully assembled suicide jacket, three grenades, a Kalashnikov rifle, two pistols and a large cache of ammunition were recovered from the site. Moreover, police found a diary which listed two to three high-value prospective targets. The second deceased suspect was identified as Qudratullah and the third's identity is yet to be confirmed. The CTD chief said the three slain suspected terrorists belonged to TTP cell dispatched from Afghanistan. Intelligence officials had been surveilling the cell for several days, he added. Khattab further added that the TTP cell in question is believed to have five members but only three were present at the safehouse during the raid. A search operation in the area and further investigation are under way.
