PSG inspired by Los Angeles as it sets out to build new stadium
PSG has outgrown the 48,000-capacity Parc des Princes, and team officials will spend a year studying potential sites in Massy and Poissy with an eye toward offering a variety of entertainment options, Melero said.
"The next challenge is a new stadium," Melero said in Los Angeles ahead of PSG's Club World Cup match on Sunday in Pasadena.
"For one year we're going to go into an analysis and make a choice for our future, and we're inspired by what is going on in the U.S. with sports facilities," he said.
"One example here is SoFi Stadium. It's incredible and much more than a sports facility — it really is part of entertainment and shows. So that is what we really want to push to diversify our revenue."
SoFi Stadium, a technological marvel that opened in 2020, is home to the NFL's Rams and Chargers and has hosted concerts by artists like Taylor Swift and Beyonce. It will play a key role in next summer's World Cup and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
The $5 billion stadium is located in Hollywood Park, a growing commercial and residential area. The 70,000-capacity indoor-outdoor stadium sits next to Intuit Dome, the high-tech home of the NBA's Clippers that opened last year.
PSG is looking at Massy, south of Paris, and Poissy, west of the French capital, as potential sites for a new stadium. The team will play at Parc des Princes for the foreseeable future while the new stadium is built.
U.S. fans and investors have played a vital role in the stunning success of the club both on and off the field, said Adrien Frier, the French consul-general in Los Angeles.
"Paris Saint-Germain is what you would call in the tech sector a unicorn, and it's a unicorn that has some American blood in it," he said at a reception honoring the team in Beverly Hills, where the Champions League trophy was on display.
PSG has an estimated 5 million fans in the U.S. and has benefited from its high-profile partnership with Nike's iconic Air Jordan brand.
U.S.-based Arctos Partners holds 12.5% of the shares of the team, with majority owner Qatar Sports Investments owning the remaining 87.5% for a club that is valued at $4.4 billion.
Melero said the team's ambitions are only growing.
"We wrote the story of the club with that cup," he said, gesturing toward the gleaming trophy.
"And right now the next move is to write the story of football with this very young team."

Dominic Solanke, Rodrigo Bentancur and Pedro Porro all scored from the spot for Spurs, in vain. Ramos, Ousmane Dembele and Lee converted for PSG before Mendes stepped up. It is the first time PSG, or indeed any French club, have lifted the Super Cup, as they take their tally of trophies won in 2025 to five. "I am proud. Olympic medalist Kerley provisionally suspended for whereabouts failure
American Fred Kerley, a two-time 100m Olympic medalist, has been provisionally suspended for failing to notify anti-doping officials of his whereabouts, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced Tuesday. Kerley, who took 100m silver in Tokyo and bronze last year in Paris as well as the 2022 world 100m crown, was suspended for "failing to comply with his anti-doping whereabouts obligations," according to the AIU. Elite athletes have strict requirements about informing anti-doping officials about their locations, such as at training camps or when traveling, and must provide a time and location each day to comply with rules regarding unannounced doping tests. Three failures within a year to comply with the requirements, such as a missed test or inaccurate information given to the anti-doping agency, are punishable. Kerley, in a posting on X, shared a letter from last week saying he intends to contest the violation ruling, saying one or more of his missed tests should be set aside "either because he was not negligent or because the Doping Control Officer did not do what was reasonable under the circumstances to locate him at his designated location." "Fred will not comment further at this time out of respect for the process and looks forward to presenting his case to the appointed hearing panel." Kerley, 30, was a Diamond League champion in 2018 at 400m and third in the event at the 2019 worlds before dropping the distance to concentrate on running the 100. After a runner-up effort to Italy's Marcell Jacobs at the Tokyo Olympics, Kerley took the world title in 2022 on home soil at Eugene in 9.76 seconds, his personal best before adding bronze to his Olympic medal collection last year at Paris. Crystal Palace loses appeal against Europa League demotion
Crystal Palace's appeal against UEFA's decision to drop it from the Europa League to the third-tier Conference League was dismissed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on Monday. UEFA demoted Palace while allowing Olympique Lyonnais to play in the Europa League as, at the time of assessment on March 1, the Eagle Football Group was majority owner of Lyon while its chairman John Textor owned a controlling stake in Palace. Nottingham Forest, which finished seventh in the Premier League last season, will replace Palace in the Europa League. "After considering the evidence, the panel found that John Textor, founder of Eagle Football Holdings, had shares in CPFC and OL and was a board member with decisive influence over both clubs at the time of UEFA's assessment date," the CAS said in a statement. "The panel also dismissed the argument by CPFC that they received unfair treatment in comparison to Nottingham Forest and OL." Palace did not respond to a request for comment. Club chairman Steve Parish told reporters on Sunday that if Palace lost the appeal, it would "have to look if there's any steps after that." The club, who qualified for the Europa League as FA Cup winners, appealed against UEFA's decision last month. The appeal came days before New York Jets co-owner Robert Wood "Woody" Johnson completed the purchase of Eagle Football Holdings' stake in Palace. Textor has also resigned from Lyon's board of directors with Michele Kang appointed chairwoman and president. As both Lyon and Palace had qualified for the Europa League, the French club was allowed to keep its place because it had finished higher in its respective league. Lyon finished sixth in Ligue 1 while Palace were 12th in the Premier League. "Olympique Lyonnais welcomes today's decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport confirming its participation in the Europa League," Lyon said in a statement. Palace, which won the Community Shield on Sunday beating Liverpool in a penalty shootout, is set to play in the Conference League's qualifying playoff round later this month.
