The Parliament once again witnessed the tote bag firestorm on Tuesday after BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj reached the venue to attend a Joint Parliamentary Committee meeting on 'One Nation One Election' with a bag that had 'National Herald Ki Loot" written on it.
The message, clearly aimed at the Congress and the Gandhi family, also turned out to be a swipe at Priyanka Gandhi, who earlier donned several bags with sharp messages on it.

The ED chargesheet in the National Herald case alleges that Gandhis acquired properties valued at more than Rs 2,000 crore for a nominal amount.
The BJP has attacked the Gandhis and the Congress over alleged irregularities in the National Herald case, while the main opposition party has denied charges, accusing the ruling party of political vendetta and misusing investigative agencies to target its leaders.

'Who is going to decide what clothes I wear now? Who is going to decide that? That's typical patriarchy that you decide what women wear. I don't subscribe to that. I will wear what I want," she said. 'I have said many times what my beliefs are regarding this. If you look at my Twitter handle, all my comments are over there," Vadra said.
The controversy didn't end there, as Vadra sent yet another powerful message the following day through her bag, which read: 'Stand with Bangladeshi Hindus and Christians."
She referred to the incidents of attacks on minorities in Bangladesh following the ouster of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.

Thane: A day after the train-fall incident near Mumbra killed four passengers and injured nine, passengers living in Kalyan-Dombivli and beyond are demanding that the govt implement the growth centre that the MMRDA had planned in 10 villages of Kalyan, similar to Mumbai's BKC. Such a centre would mean that people would not have to travel to Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane for jobs, resulting in a reduction in local train passengers. Some passengers believe that the govt should prioritise the ongoing infrastructure projects connecting Kalyan-Dombivli to Thane, Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, which would also reduce the number of people travelling by train. A large number of people from Kalyan-Dombivli work in IT companies in Navi Mumbai. Most of them used to travel in buses, but due to the Metro Line 12 (Kalyan-Taloja metro work), this journey takes two hours instead of 40 minutes. As a result, they now travel by train, first going to Thane from Kalyan-Dombivli and then to Navi Mumbai, adding to the peak-hour crowd. In 2015, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis decided to develop 10 villages of Kalyan as a growth centre on the lines of BKC, stating that people from these cities would not have to travel to Mumbai and Thane for jobs. After this, MMRDA reserved 1,089 hectares of land in these 10 villages for the growth centre. In 2018, the govt sanctioned Rs 1,000 crore for it, but no work has started yet. Rupesh Raut, a resident of Dombivli who works in an IT company in Vikhroli, said, "The govt should prioritise the work of building a growth centre in Kalyan so that the lives of people like us, who risk our lives and travel by local train every day, will be saved. If we get jobs near us, it will reduce the crowd in the train." Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Dipesh Mhatre from Dombivli said that today Kalyan-Dombivli, Ambernath and Badlapur, where most people are employed in Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai, have become residential hubs where lakhs of people live. Railway activist Lata Argade said the govt now needs to take a decision on changing the working hours of govt and private sector offices in Mumbai. Argade said that the railway are positive about this demand, and the govt had accepted this demand earlier, but no decision has been taken on it.

"Slogans Not Enough. We Are Not Saints": Ajit Pawar On Joining BJP Alliance
Pune: Justifying his decision to join hands with the BJP, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Ajit Pawar on Tuesday said he and his colleagues were not "saints" who could remain in the opposition and be content with protesting and shouting slogans. Speaking at an event here to mark the 26th Foundation Day of the undivided NCP, Ajit Pawar, currently Maharashtra deputy chief minister, made no definitive statement about the possibility of reuniting with his estranged uncle Sharad Pawar's faction. "The NCP was founded on the ideologies of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mahatma Phule, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj. Some people question our decision to join hands with the BJP and the Mahayuti coalition," said Ajit Pawar, who parted ways with his uncle in 2023. "But didn't we align with the Shiv Sena in 2019? Even then, compromises were made. Just sitting in the opposition, raising slogans and taking out protest marches is not enough. We are not saints. We are here to give a direction, address people's issues, and practice the politics of inclusion," he said. The party did not form an alliance with the BJP at the cost of ideology, Ajit Pawar claimed. "When we decided to join the NDA and Mahayuti in Maharashtra, we saw that leaders like Chandrababu Naidu, known for secular ideology, had also aligned with the NDA. "It is the party leaders who deliberate and decide on such matters," he added. A systematic campaign was underway to spread misinformation about fund distribution by his ministry, said Pawar who holds the finance portfolio in the BJP-Shiv Sena-NCP government. "Compared to the previous budget, we have increased allocations for Scheduled Tribes," he said, referring to a row over alleged diversion of funds from the ST department for the Ladki Bahin scheme for women. He also refuted rumours that the Ladki Bahin scheme, under which eligible women receive Rs 1500 per month, was being discontinued.
