Dist admns told to set up ‘detention centres' for illegal B'desh nationals
Bhubaneswar: The state govt has initiated measures to deport illegal Bangladeshi immigrants , with district collectors receiving instructions to establish ' detention centres ' for holding foreigners until their repatriation. "We are in the process of finalising the SOP on identification and deportation of illegal Bangladeshis. Adequate detention or holding centres will be established to house Bangladeshis following their identification," a senior govt official told TOI. According to sources, all police stations have been asked to utilise human intelligence for identifying undocumented Bangladeshis under their jurisdictions. These individuals typically work as street vendors, construction labourers, masons and marine fishermen in Odisha. "We will register cases and initiate legal action against those illegal immigrants involved in organised crimes in Odisha. Those illegal foreigners, whose backgrounds are clean, will be deported without them facing any legal action," the official added. Bangladesh shaking with fear after India's strong action against Pakistan, Yunus govt orders on Hindus for... India successfully thwarted Pakistani drone and missile attacks that attempted to target several military bases, including Jammu and Pathankot, on Thursday night. The Indian Armed Forces also foiled a similar bid at 15 places in the northern and western regions last night as tensions further escalated between the two countries following Operation Sindoor. The effect of India's tough stand and action against Pakistan is now visible in Bangladesh as well. The situation has become such that the local police have had to issue a separate alert for the safety of the Hindu community. There is a fear that the anger of India-Pakistan tension may fall on Bangladeshi Hindus. To avoid any riot, Bangladesh Police Headquarters (PHQ) has issued a letter on Wednesday directing police units to ensure the safety of minorities. Strict Instructions Issued From Police HQ As per the letter issued by the Bangladesh Police Headquarters, all the police units have been directed to give priority to the security of minority community specially Hindus. The instruction has been issued by the Operations Branch, signed by Additional DIG Shahzada Mohammad Asaduzzaman on behalf of the Inspector General of Police. This increased vigilance includes strict monitoring of mobile communications, internet activity, and social media to counter the spread of misinformation and hate speech that could destabilise the nation. Vigilance To Prevent Riots All police units have been directed to strictly prevent any kind of sabotage, provocative statements or attempts to incite communal tension in the country. Stringent action will be taken against any sort of conspiracy. The Bangladesh government has clarified that it doesn't want the law and order and the Hindu community to suffer the consequences of the tension between India and Pakistan. To preserve national peace and harmony, Bangladesh is taking preventive measures. Given the heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, the government is acting proactively to mitigate the risk of communal violence, a recurring problem in the country's history.

Why are you carrying loot? Priyanka Gandhi fires back at BJP's tote bag swipe
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday responded sharply to BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj's attack involving a tote bag emblazoned with "National Herald Ki Loot", defending her family against recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) charges in connection with a money laundering case linked to the National Herald newspaper. Bansuri Swaraj, who is part of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on 'One Nation One Election', arrived at the meeting carrying the tote bag similar to the one Priyanka Gandhi was spotted holding inside Parliament premises during last year's Winter Session. advertisementThe Wayanad MP had triggered a controversy after she carried a bag with 'Palestine' written on it. The next day, she was seen holding another tote bag that had "stand with Bangladeshi Hindus and Christians" written on it. Speaking to reporters about Swaraj's tote bag theatrics, Priyanka Gandhi said she had complimented Swaraj and had mockingly asked, "Are you carrying this loot?" Furthermore, Priyanka Gandhi also reiterated that the BJP was "misusing agencies for political purposes" and targeting opposition leaders selectively. "The people of this country understand what is happening. My husband was questioned for giving Rs 4 lakh to his mother seventeen years ago. What kind of investigation is this?" she asked. The Congress leader dismissed the ED's actions as timed with the elections and accused the BJP of orchestrating an "intimidation campaign" through central agencies. "Those who are questioned and then join the BJP suddenly find all charges against them disappear," Priyanka Gandhi added. advertisementWhile assuring that her family would "fully cooperate" with the ED, the Congress leader also expressed concern over her mother's health, stating that Sonia Gandhi had been subjected to prolonged questioning despite her Bansuri Swaraj has described the National Herald case as one of "corporate abuse", alleging that properties worth Rs 2,000 crore were acquired for Rs 50 lakh through Young Indian Ltd, a company in which the Gandhis reportedly own 76 per cent shares. "The old Congress mindset is being exposed," news agency PTI quoted Swaraj as ED chargesheet, dated April 9, named former Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and others in an alleged Rs 5,000-crore money laundering case. Both Sonia and Rahul Gandhi are currently out on bail, after courts dismissed their plea to quash the ED proceedings.

Tote-ally political: Bansuri Swaraj's 'National Herald ki Loot' bag targets Gandhis
BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj turned heads at the Parliament Annexe building on Monday when she walked in for a Joint Parliamentary Committee meeting on 'One Nation, One Election' carrying a tote bag with the words "National Herald Ki Loot" emblazoned on it. The bag, an unmistakable jibe at the Gandhi family, is the latest in a series of handbag statements in Parliament - this time from the BJP in response to Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's recent outings with politically loaded tote to reporters, Swaraj said, "This is the first time that corruption has taken place in the fourth pillar of democracy-media. The charge sheet filed by the ED highlights the old working style and ideology of the Congress party. In the guise of service, they make public institutions a tool to increase their personal property."Her remarks come as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) recently filed a chargesheet against senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in connection with the National Herald case. The case, which formally began in 2021, stems from a complaint filed by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy in 2014. It alleges that the Gandhis and other Congress leaders orchestrated a fraudulent takeover of Associated Journals Ltd. (AJL) - the publisher of the National Herald newspaper - through the company Young Indian Ltd. (YIL), for a nominal sum of Rs 50 lakh. The properties involved in the case are estimated to be worth over Rs 2,000 bag stunt appears to be a direct counter to Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's recent bag messaging. In December, Vadra drew attention by carrying a tote with the word "Palestine" on it, prompting criticism from BJP leaders who accused her of communal posturing. Unfazed by the backlash, Vadra defended her choice, calling the attacks patriarchal and asserting her right to wear what she wants."The Gandhi family has always been carrying the bag of appeasement. The appeasement bag is the reason behind their rout in elections," BJP leader Sambit Patra had said.A day later, she upped the ante by appearing with a bag that read "Stand with Bangladeshi Hindus and Christians", in response to the BJP's criticism that she had ignored atrocities against minorities in Bangladesh. Earlier this year, BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi had gifted Vadra a bag that read "1984" - a pointed reference to the anti-Sikh riots that followed the assassination of then Prime Minister Indira Watch

Tote Bag And A Clear Message: BJP's Bansuri Swaraj Takes A Page From Priyanka Gandhi To Target Congress
The "National Herald Ki Loot" jibe caught everyone's attention as it slammed the Congress over the ED's chargesheet against Rahul and Sonia in the National Herald case. The Parliament once again witnessed the tote bag firestorm on Tuesday after BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj reached the venue to attend a Joint Parliamentary Committee meeting on 'One Nation One Election' with a bag that had 'National Herald Ki Loot" written on it. The message, clearly aimed at the Congress and the Gandhi family, also turned out to be a swipe at Priyanka Gandhi, who earlier donned several bags with sharp messages on it. The BJP has attacked the Gandhis and the Congress over alleged irregularities in the National Herald case, while the main opposition party has denied charges, accusing the ruling party of political vendetta and misusing investigative agencies to target its leaders. Priyanka Gandhi's Tactics 'Who is going to decide what clothes I wear now? Who is going to decide that? That's typical patriarchy that you decide what women wear. I don't subscribe to that. I will wear what I want," she said. 'I have said many times what my beliefs are regarding this. If you look at my Twitter handle, all my comments are over there," Vadra said. The controversy didn't end there, as Vadra sent yet another powerful message the following day through her bag, which read: 'Stand with Bangladeshi Hindus and Christians." She referred to the incidents of attacks on minorities in Bangladesh following the ouster of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
