Sisters who vanished while visiting homeless dad found dead near Washington campground as cops hunt for father
The bodies of the Decker sisters — Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia, 5 — were found late Monday close to their father's truck near a campground in Wenatchee, where SWAT teams and even a Homeland Security helicopter had frantically searched the area, KIRO 7 reported.
The girls' AMBER alerts were canceled late Monday without explanation, before police confirmed the deaths Tuesday with 'sincere and deep heartfelt condolences to the family.'
The search continued for their 32-year-old dad, Travis Decker, who had collected them from their mother's house for a planned visitation on Friday — then went missing with them in his white 2017 GMC Sierra truck.
Decker is described as a military veteran with extensive training.
Hours before the bodies were found, a warrant was issued for Decker's arrest on three counts of first-degree custodial interference.
On Tuesday, the charges were updated to three counts each of kidnapping and first-degree murder, police confirmed to Fox13.
Decker, who is homeless and divorced from his children's mother, was known to stay at campgrounds and hotels in the local area with his dog, according to police.
After picking up the girls Friday, Decker and his truck were seen later that weekend in the west end of Leavenworth, triggering a police search in the wooded areas around the town, NCWLIFE reported.
The bodies were found on Rock Island Campground, about 18 miles west of the town of Leavenworth, at around 5 p.m. on Monday.
SWAT teams and federal agencies — including Homeland Security and the US Forest Service — then descended on the area and began the search for Decker.
The Washington State Patrol Crime Scene Response Team came to process the scene and search Decker's truck on Monday.
Processing is expected to wrap up sometime today.
The girls' mother, Whitney Decker, had issued a heartbreaking appeal for their safe return Monday, hours before the bodies were found.
'I just want the girls back home safe and sound — that is the most important thing to me,' she said in the emailed statement sent to NCWLIFE.
'I am concerned about the safety and wellbeing of my girls and their dad. This is an unimaginable situation.' I am pleading for everyone to look out for them,' she said in the emailed statement sent to NCWLIFE.'
She said she had never had problems before when her ex had the kids — and didn't think his battles with mental health would make him 'dangerous.'
'Travis has really struggled since he left the military and his mental health can be hard sometimes,' she told Kiro7 before her daughters turned up dead. 'I think that he is impulsive and he loves his children very much.'
A heartbreaking letter has been sent out to parents, students and staff by the Wenatchee School District on Tuesday. All three girls attended Lincoln Elementary School.
Describing the 'incredibly difficult situation,' Superintendent Kory Kalahar said that counseling services were being provided on campus for all children and staff who need support.
'To allow our students, staff, and families the space and privacy they need to mourn and begin healing, we respectfully ask that you do not come to the school campus except for regular school business,' the letter, seen by Fox13, continued.
Authorities have issued a description of Decker and have asked the community to help find him.
He is described as 5-foot-8 tall, 190 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, last seen wearing a light-colored shirt and dark shorts.
Although it is unknown whether Decker is currently armed, he may pose a significant threat if approached, authorities added.
Anyone who believes they may have seen Decker since Friday or knows his current whereabouts is urged to call 911 immediately.
Due to safety concerns, the public is urged not to attempt to contact or approach Decker.

US uses war rhetoric, Superman to recruit for migrant crackdown
From Uncle Sam to Superman, the US government is deploying patriotic icons and increasingly warlike rhetoric to recruit Americans into enforcing Donald Trump's immigration crackdown. Job ads promising $50,000 signing bonuses to new "Deportation Officers" have flooded social media over the past week, accompanied by jingoistic rallying slogans that declare "America Needs You." White House officials have shared World War I-style posters, including one with Uncle Sam donning an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) baseball cap, while a former Superman actor has pledged he will "be sworn in as an ICE agent ASAP." "So many patriots have stepped up, and I'm proud to be among them," Dean Cain, who starred as the Man of Steel in 1990s TV series "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," told FOX News. ICE, the agency chiefly responsible for the recent, divisive masked raids on farms, factories and Home Depot parking lots across the nation, is pulling out all the stops to hire new officers at a staggering rate. Flush with $75 billion in extra funding -- making it the highest-funded US law enforcement agency, ahead of even the FBI -- ICE has been tasked by Trump with deporting one million undocumented immigrants per year. To do so, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has pledged to hire 10,000 new officers, in a process that would swell ICE's ranks by a whopping 50 percent. On Wednesday, Noem scrapped pre-existing age caps that prevented over-40s from becoming deportation officers. Student debt forgiveness, generous overtime pay and enhanced retirement benefits are all being flouted -- alongside language about the opportunity to "Fulfill your destiny" and "Defend the Homeland." "Your nation needs you to step into the breach. For our country, for our culture, for our way of life. Will you answer the call?" read one post on Department of Homeland Security social media accounts. - 'All-hands-on-deck' - DHS officials say they have received 80,000 applications since the recruitment campaign began less than a week ago. But critics have quickly highlighted evidence that the aggressive drive may not be working as effectively as officials claim. Dozens of officials at FEMA -- a separate agency that deals with emergency disaster response -- have been reassigned to ICE and threatened with losing their jobs if they do not move, the Washington Post reported. DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told the Post the move was part of "an all-hands-on-deck strategy to recruit 10,000 new ICE agents." An ICE pilot program offering agents additional cash bonuses for deporting people quickly was scrapped less than four hours after it was announced, when its existence was leaked to the New York Times. And some local law enforcement agencies that have cooperated with the federal immigration crackdown have complained that they are now seeing their own officers poached. "ICE actively trying to use our partnership to recruit our personnel is wrong," a Florida sheriff's office spokesperson told CNN. -'Kryptonite' - Perhaps the highest profile and most scathing response has come from "South Park," the popular animated TV satire that is becoming a thorn in the Trump administration's side. In a recent episode, hapless school counselor Mr Mackey is offered an ICE job after a seven-second-long interview, immediately handed a gun and sent on a raid of a children's concert. "If you're crazy, or fat and lazy, we don't care at all," says a fictional ICE job advert. "Remember, only detain the brown ones. If it's brown, it goes down," orders Noem's character during a satirical sequence set during an immigration raid in heaven. ICE raids have been accused using racial profiling by rights groups. Meanwhile, the recruitment drive has been hailed by conservative outlets. Fox News celebrated the news that Superman actor Cain had enlisted with the headline banner "Illegals, meet your Kryptonite." Supportive comments on the channel's Facebook page included "Now that's a REAL Superman." amz/hg/bgs

Wrong Speak Publishing Founder Adam B Coleman discusses Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announcing Indiana's detention facility, the 'Speedway Slammer', adding 1,000 extra beds. Trump creates task force to prepare for LA Olympics
President Donald Trump has established a task force on the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics that he says will ensure the event is "safe, seamless and historically successful". The 2028 Games will be the first Olympics hosted by the US since the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City, Utah. Setting up the task force reflects the intense planning that comes with hosting the Olympics, as well as Trump's desire to be involved in an event he considers one of the highlights of his term. "The LA Olympics is shaping up to be a wonderful moment for America. It's going to be incredible. It's so exciting," Trump said on Tuesday (local time) as he signed an executive order at the White House establishing the task force. The executive order calls for the task force to co-ordinate security and planning for the Games, and to streamline visa processing and credentialling for the athletes, coaches, media and other visitors coming to the US. "We'll do anything necessary to keep the Olympics safe," Trump said, adding that could potentially include deploying "our National Guard or military". Earlier this year, Trump sent National Guard troops to Los Angeles to respond to immigration protests. Trump will serve as chair of the task force, with Vice President JD Vance vice chair. Other members include a number of Cabinet secretaries and administration officials, such as Attorney General Pam Bondi, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and White House chief of staff Susie Wiles. Also present were Olympic champion gymnast Nastia Liukin and Brad Snyder, a swimmer who competed at the 2012 Paralympic Games. Trump "considers it a great honor to oversee this global sporting spectacle", White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement, calling sports one of the president's "greatest passions". During the signing event, LA28 president and chair Casey Wasserman presented Trump with a set of gold, silver and bronze medals from the 1984 Olympic Games held in Los Angeles. "Can I say I won them athletically?" Trump asked, as he displayed the medals to an audience of reporters. Wasserman said the task force "marks an important step forward in our planning efforts and reflects our shared commitment to delivering not just the biggest, but the greatest Games the world has ever seen". Along with the 2028 Olympics, Trump has said the 2026 FIFA World Cup being hosted by the US, Canada and Mexico is among the events he's most looking forward to in his second term.
