Brutal details: Three sisters who vanished while visiting homeless dad were found with bags over their heads, wrists zip-tied
The bodies of three young sisters killed, allegedly by their dad, in Washington state were found with plastic bags over their heads and their wrists zip-tied, investigators said. The gruesome new details were laid bare in court papers as cops continued the manhunt for their homeless father, 32-year-old Travis Decker, on Wednesday, KOMO reported. The bodies of the Decker sisters — Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia, 5 — were discovered in an embankment near the Rock Island Campground in Wenatchee, roughly three hours east of Seattle, on Monday evening. A preliminary report found the girls were likely asphyxiated. In addition to the bags and zip-ties, the girls' bodies were found in the same outfits they were wearing when they vanished Friday. Their bodies were found close to their father's white 2017 GMC Sierra truck, which allegedly had two bloody handprints smeared on the back, the papers state. It comes after the girls' mother, Whitney Decker, had issued a heartbreaking appeal for their safe return Monday, hours before the bodies were found. 'I just want the girls back home safe and sound — that is the most important thing to me,' she said in the emailed statement sent to NCWLIFE. 'I am concerned about the safety and wellbeing of my girls and their dad. This is an unimaginable situation.' I am pleading for everyone to look out for them,' she said in the emailed statement sent to NCWLIFE.' The Likely Cause of Death for Travis Decker's 3 Daughters Was Revealed. It's Chilling
The likely cause of death for the three daughters of missing father Travis Decker has been revealed. A massive manhunt is underway for Decker, who sheriff's officials believe murdered the three girls. They are Olivia, 5; Evelyn, 8; and Paitlyn, 9. The girls disappeared after being transferred to their father for a visitation. Decker, who is divorced from the girls' mom Whitney Decker, is at large. He is a native of Pewaukee, WI. The release of the likely cause of death paints a chilling picture of the girls' last moments. Be forewarned that it's very disturbing. There is a GoFundMe page set up to help the girls' mother. There is also a Facebook group devoted to remembering the girls with positive stories. A preliminary report filed with Chelan County Superior Court in Washington State revealed that the three girls "appeared to have died from asphyxiation," Fox13 reported. According to NCWLIFE, extremely disturbing police affidavits filed in court further say that the "girls' wrists appeared to have been zip-tied and their heads hooded with plastic were wearing the same clothing they had on when they left their mother's home." They were found down an embankment near Rock Island Campground, the site reported. The Facebook group devoted to remembering the girls has many heartfelt tributes to them. "I coached Paityn in baseball and basketball. She was such an athlete and I was looking forward to watching her play FC soccer with my daughter this summer. Not all kids have grit but Paityn did. She tried hard and she wanted to win," wrote one man on the comment thread. "We went to church together and I got to play with Paityn & Evelyn at the nursery! I loved seeing the girls on Sundays with their matching outfits!" a woman wrote. "Okay, first of all, they were the most well-behaved, polite kids in the world. I called them the sunshine kids because they was always just so smiley and happy to be there," read another tribute. "A joint operation including regional, state, and federal law enforcement agencies continues in Chelan County in search of Travis Decker. Travis is suspected of kidnapping and murdering his three young daughters this past weekend," the Chelan County Sheriff's Department wrote in a statement. "A reward of up to $20,000 is available for information leading directly to Mr. Decker's arrests. The suspect is not known to be armed at this time, but should be considered dangerous," authorities added. According to Fox 13, the documents say that Decker's vehicle was found near the bodies "with two bloody handprints, and had personal items such as blankets, food, car seats and a wallet on the center console." A tent and cooler were nearby at a campsite, the television station reported. CCSO detectives and deputies "were able to gather information that led them to search the Icicle Rd area of Leavenworth, WA in hopes of locating Travis Decker and his three daughters," the Sheriff's Department wrote. "Around 3:45 p.m. yesterday (June 2), a CCSO Forest Service Deputy, conducting patrol on his motorcycle, located Mr. Decker's vehicle in a remote area, approximately 17 miles up the road, ultimately discovering the three deceased children and Mr. Decker was nowhere to be found." Decker "is currently wanted for 3 counts of Murder 1st degree and Kidnapping 1st degree," the Sheriff's office continued. "Decker is a former Military with extensive training. If you have seen him, or believe to have seen him, within the last several days, please contact 911. It is unknown if he is armed at this time but he should be considered dangerous and should not be contacted or approached." The Sheriff's Department released this information on Decker: Travis Caleb Decker 8/15/1992 5'8' 190lbs, Black hair, brown eyes. Last seen wearing light colored shirt and dark shorts, On Friday, May 30 at 9:45 p.m., the Wenatchee Police Department "responded to a Civil Complaint. Sisters who vanished while visiting homeless dad found dead near Washington campground as cops hunt for father
The three young sisters who vanished while visiting their troubled and homeless father have been found dead, police confirmed Tuesday — as they continued hunting the dad for their kidnapping and murders. The bodies of the Decker sisters — Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia, 5 — were found late Monday close to their father's truck near a campground in Wenatchee, where SWAT teams and even a Homeland Security helicopter had frantically searched the area, KIRO 7 reported. The girls' AMBER alerts were canceled late Monday without explanation, before police confirmed the deaths Tuesday with 'sincere and deep heartfelt condolences to the family.' The search continued for their 32-year-old dad, Travis Decker, who had collected them from their mother's house for a planned visitation on Friday — then went missing with them in his white 2017 GMC Sierra truck. Decker is described as a military veteran with extensive training. Hours before the bodies were found, a warrant was issued for Decker's arrest on three counts of first-degree custodial interference. On Tuesday, the charges were updated to three counts each of kidnapping and first-degree murder, police confirmed to Fox13. Decker, who is homeless and divorced from his children's mother, was known to stay at campgrounds and hotels in the local area with his dog, according to police. After picking up the girls Friday, Decker and his truck were seen later that weekend in the west end of Leavenworth, triggering a police search in the wooded areas around the town, NCWLIFE reported. The bodies were found on Rock Island Campground, about 18 miles west of the town of Leavenworth, at around 5 p.m. on Monday. SWAT teams and federal agencies — including Homeland Security and the US Forest Service — then descended on the area and began the search for Decker. The Washington State Patrol Crime Scene Response Team came to process the scene and search Decker's truck on Monday. Processing is expected to wrap up sometime today. The girls' mother, Whitney Decker, had issued a heartbreaking appeal for their safe return Monday, hours before the bodies were found. 'I just want the girls back home safe and sound — that is the most important thing to me,' she said in the emailed statement sent to NCWLIFE. 'I am concerned about the safety and wellbeing of my girls and their dad. This is an unimaginable situation.' I am pleading for everyone to look out for them,' she said in the emailed statement sent to NCWLIFE.' She said she had never had problems before when her ex had the kids — and didn't think his battles with mental health would make him 'dangerous.' 'Travis has really struggled since he left the military and his mental health can be hard sometimes,' she told Kiro7 before her daughters turned up dead. 'I think that he is impulsive and he loves his children very much.' A heartbreaking letter has been sent out to parents, students and staff by the Wenatchee School District on Tuesday. All three girls attended Lincoln Elementary School. Describing the 'incredibly difficult situation,' Superintendent Kory Kalahar said that counseling services were being provided on campus for all children and staff who need support. 'To allow our students, staff, and families the space and privacy they need to mourn and begin healing, we respectfully ask that you do not come to the school campus except for regular school business,' the letter, seen by Fox13, continued. Authorities have issued a description of Decker and have asked the community to help find him. He is described as 5-foot-8 tall, 190 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, last seen wearing a light-colored shirt and dark shorts. Although it is unknown whether Decker is currently armed, he may pose a significant threat if approached, authorities added. Anyone who believes they may have seen Decker since Friday or knows his current whereabouts is urged to call 911 immediately. Due to safety concerns, the public is urged not to attempt to contact or approach Decker.
