Will Clark goes on wild rant against announcer for sparking Rafael Devers controversy
On his 'Deuces Wild' podcast with Eric Byrnes, Clark went on an expletive-laden rant about Flemming revealing that Devers declined his offer to work with him at first base last month.
'I'm standing out there,' Clark began. '[And Giants announcer] Dave Flemming actually introduces me to his brother, Will Flemming, who is one of the Red Sox radio/TV guys, I guess. And so now he goes on some podcast … and blows this thing out of f— proportion … and here we go.'

Clark had his conversation with Flemming when the Red Sox were in San Francisco from June 20-22, shortly after Devers was traded to the Giants in a shocking blockbuster.

'I just gotta tell you right now, this is a bunch of bulls–t,' Clark added. 'That's first off. Second off … me and Raffy are fine, I'm gonna work with him whenever I get around to first base and all that. And Will Flemming? You can go f–k off, mother f—ker. You wanna go take a conversation that we're having and then blow it out of proportion because you're a f–king East Coast piece of s–t reporter? F–k off. And so other than that, I'm cool!'

On Boston's WEEI radio station Monday, Fleming said: 'Will Clark was there to work on ground balls with him at first base, and Raffy didn't show up. So, that's the person that these guys have been dealing with for a long time.'
Clark said he 'completely understands' why Devers didn't want to work with him at first base with the Red Sox in town — since the freshly traded slugger would have had to 'go through all that bullsh–t, through the press and the media.'

Devers, whom the Red Sox dealt to the Giants in mid-June for pitchers Jordan Hicks, Kyle Harrison, Jose Bello and outfielder James Tibbs III, refused to play first base in Boston when the team asked.
Devers, 28, has hit .225 with two homers and nine RBIs in his first 80 at-bats in San Francisco.
He has yet to play a position besides DH with the Giants.

Trade Buzz Addressed Directly by NY Giants Exec
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. With a strong quarterback room comes rumors of potential trades as the landscape of the position takes shape across the league. The New York Giants have become a team to pay attention to in that regard. Not every team across the league has a franchise quarterback for the long haul. And the teams with a temporary guy understand that the player just might be on borrowed time. That's when front offices start looking at teams like the Giants, who have a veteran starter, a seasoned backup with plenty of starting experience, and a high-end draft pick at the position. Suddenly, Jameis Winston has become one of the NFL's most popular trade targets at the quarterback position. As he might drop to No. 3 on the team's depth chart, Winston might be viewed as a low-cost, high-upside trade candidate. However, the Giants aren't showing any interest in trading Winston publicly or privately. Early on in training camp, the Giants were reportedly interested in keeping Winston no matter what the depth chart circumstances were. This week, the team's Assistant General Manager, Brandon Brown, told reporters that the veteran quarterback is off limits. Jameis Winston #19 of the New York Giants in action during the NFL Preseason 2025 game between New York Jets and New York Giants at MetLife Stadium on August 16, 2025 in East Rutherford, New... Jameis Winston #19 of the New York Giants in action during the NFL Preseason 2025 game between New York Jets and New York Giants at MetLife Stadium on August 16, 2025 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The Giants won 31-12. More"I appreciate that people are interested, but Jameis is a New York Giant," he said. "With the way that he's gone about his business from Day 1, he's made it very intentional of the fact that he wants to be here and he wants to be here for the long haul. Teammates love him. His preparation process, whether it's the off-field things that he does in terms of community relations, Bible study, things in the locker room, or galvanizing the group together. Not just the quarterback room, but the offense as a whole. He's also been a really good example of how to be a pro and handling business in terms of rehab, prehab, postgame care and stuff. Happy he's here. He's going to continue to do those things. He hasn't wavered, and he hasn't been shaken by any distractions at all." Coming out of Florida State in 2015, Winston was the NFL's top prospect. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected him first overall, making him the franchise quarterback. Winston didn't pan out long-term, but he has 87 starts under his belt. He knows the ins and outs of being a first-round rookie for Jaxson Dart, and he has experience as a backup to make the Giants' coaching staff feel confident that they need a veteran replacement for Wilson at any point. Winston might not spend a ton of time with the Giants, but they signed him to a two-year deal with the intention of utilizing him in any positive way they can think of. Using him as trade bait certainly isn't in the plans. For more New York Giants and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.

Caitlin Clark's return to Fever lineup remains mystery
Print Close By Ryan Gaydos Published August 21, 2025 Caitlin Clark has been on the bench nursing an injury since the Indiana Fever were on the road against the Connecticut Sun just moments away from the All-Star break. Since then, her return to the floor has been closely guarded. Clark's injured right groin has failed to heal enough for her to even return to the practice floor. Fever head coach Stephanie White told reporters that there was no timetable for her to return to the lineup. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON "Until she can get into practice and until you guys see her in practice, it's really status quo," she told reporters on Wednesday. To make matters more frustrating, multiple reports indicated on Wednesday that Clark suffered a bone bruise in her left ankle while rehabbing from her groin injury. A source told the Indy Star the ankle issue wouldn't have affected her timeline. Sophie Cunningham, who is also set to miss the rest of the season following a torn MCL against the Sun, dropped a few nuggets about Clark's injury and recovery process. "She doesn't even know (when she'll be back). Literally, it's a day-by-day legit type of thing," she said on the "Show Me Something" podcast. "Yeah, it's close, you have to remember she would be playing if she wasn't in the WNBA right now. At this level, with how deep and how good people are nowadays in our league, which is the best it's ever been just trying to get her back in game shape is what they're trying to do." FEVER STAR SOPHIE CUNNINGHAM HIT WITH THIRD WNBA FINE AFTER PAIGE BUECKERS COMMENT ON HER PODCAST Cunningham insisted she wasn't withholding any information. The Fever said on July 24 that the sharpshooter "underwent further medical evaluations earlier this week, which confirmed that no additional injuries or damage were discovered."
