Industries and PWD ministers to meet Chakan MIDC stakeholders over poor roads, traffic woes

Time of India6 days ago
Pune: Industries minister Uday Samant and public works department (PWD) minister Shivendraraje Bhosale will on Wednesday meet public representatives and officials from various govt agencies to discuss the issues related to the deteriorating road condition and traffic congestion in the areas surrounding Chakan MIDC.
The meeting is scheduled to take place at 12.30pm in Mumbai and will also cover long-pending proposals, including road widening and development of elevated roads in the region.
The meeting comes in response to appeals from MIDC employees and local residents, who raised concerns over daily traffic chaos on connecting roads and highlighted the worsening state of Talegaon-Shikrapur Road. They demanded urgent intervention from state govt, especially after chief minister Devendra Fadnavis recently held a meeting to address similar issues in Hinjewadi IT Park.
Dhiraj Mukte, a Chakan resident, said the agencies responsible for the road's upkeep failed to carry out timely repairs before the monsoon. "The road is now riddled with potholes that collect mud and water, leading to frequent accidents," he said.

MIDC employees have also launched an online petition 'UNCLOG CHAKAN MIDC'.
Bhosari BJP MLA Mahesh Landge, who has been invited to the upcoming meeting, said, "Instead of just extending the support, I am actively pursuing these issues with govt. Just as steps are being taken to resolve the issues in the IT park, we will also work to address the challenges faced by industries in Chakan MIDC."
One of the key roads in the region, the Nashik-Pune highway, which falls under the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), connects MIDC to various parts of Pune. Thousands of employees commuting daily via this route face traffic jams. The meeting will also discuss the development of the proposed Nashik Phata-Rajgurunagar elevated corridor, which is expected to be implemented by NHAI and ease the traffic on the highway.

SC proposes panel to manage Banke Bihari temple till HC decides on UP ordinance

. New Delhi: Supreme Court on Monday proposed an interim committee, headed by a retired high court judge and comprising the district collector and Goswamis (pujaris), for management of Banke Bihari temple in Vrindavan till Allahabad HC decides the validity of UP govt's ordinance for all-round development of the temple area to provide facilities to pilgrims. A bench of justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi asked additional solicitor general K M Nataraj to seek state govt's response by Tuesday morning, when it will take up a batch of petitions that have questioned the manner in which state govt, prompted by an SC order, had come out with a temple development project proposed to be implemented at a cost of Rs 500 crore. The Goswamis, through senior advocate Shyam Divan, said taking over of the temple through an ordinance was extraordinary as the issue was not before constitutional courts, which were only dealing with alleged mismanagement of Guriraj temple. In the guise of better management of temples in the 'Braj area', the SC passed an order without even hearing temple Goswamis, which prompted the state to issue the ordinance, they said. The bench agreed that such an order without hearing the Goswamis could not have been passed. However, the Justice Kant-led bench said, "It is only for development of the temple and its surroundings. The state's intention does not appear to siphon out temple funds but to spend it on providing facilities to pilgrims." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Andrea Bergs Auto schockiert die ganze Welt, Beweis in Fotos! Weight Loss Groove Undo Divan said Banke Bihari temple was a private temple and any law brought about by govt or any order passed by courts could not have been without hearing the Goswamis, who have been managing it for centuries. The bench saw a point in Divan's argument and said, "The state cannot be seen coming to the court in a clandestine manner and getting an order set aside in a case which had nothing to do with Banke Bihari temple. We will set aside that part of the order, set up an interim committee to manage the temple and permit the HC to decide the legality of the ordinance." However, the bench was in favour of development around the temple to provide space for parking and places to stay for pilgrims with all facilities. "Religious tourism is assuming great importance. It can also be a big revenue earner and help in job creation. But there has to be adequate facilities to handle pilgrims," it said. The interim committee may also have to induct representatives of Archaeological Survey of India as well as independent architects proficient in ancient building restoration to protect the temple, the bench said.

EOW revamped with cutting edge tech, friendly tools

1 2 Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the police has been revamped on the lines of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) with stronger technical tools, faster investigations, and direct public access. The new measures were unveiled during a state-level workshop at the police headquarters in Lucknow. One of the biggest citizen-friendly reforms announced is easy public access to report financial crimes. Now, 112 (emergency helpline) has been integrated with EOW so that the common man can report cases of Ponzi scheme fraud, stamp fraud, plot/land fraud, multi-marketing fraud, trading, Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) fraud, and job fraud. "The agency is being transformed into a robust, trusted institution, both for professional enforcement and public outreach. Efforts are being made to ensure its officers receive professional expertise in line with the highest national standards," DGP Rajeev Krishna said. "These animated booklets are being made available in both soft and hard formats. The aim is to educate citizens on how they might be targeted and how to stay alert and protected. We expect this initiative to significantly raise public awareness," Krishna said. Director general, EOW, Neera Rawat said, "The unit is being equipped with cutting-edge tools like a 24x7 Case Management Software (CMS) for real-time monitoring and faster case resolution. A new EOW logo, a citizen-awareness booklet, and a short film on financial crime prevention were also launched to engage and educate the public," she said.
