Some Disappointing News About ‘Ahsoka' Season 2's Release Date

Disney's Star Wars plans are all over the place, even as a recent event laid out a number of upcoming movies as the series will head back to theaters. It's sort of a 'we've heard this before' situation with so many cancelled projects, and the only one that is actually, literally coming out is The Mandalorian and Grogu, which has finished filming.
But then there's TV, and there's some news about The Mandalorian spin-off Ahsoka (kidding kidding Clone Wars fans). The series performed solidly enough relying on well-established Clone Wars and Rebels characters, and a season 2 was greenlit.
The bad news? Season 2 of Ahsoka has only just started filming now, delayed in part because of the development of The Mandalorian and Grogu, it seems. The announcement was just made as Rosario Dawson showed a shadowed picture of herself in costume.
The timeline here is…frustrating, and at the worst end of the streaming era gaps. Ahsoka season 1 aired in August of 2023, almost two years ago now. If filming is only just beginning now, from that to post-production to release is likely to be over a year. Season 1 of Ahsoka started filming in May of 2022, so that's 15 months until season 1 came out. 15 months from now would be August of 2026 and yes, that would mean it's exactly three years between seasons, even longer than what we just saw with Andor, released in September of 2022.
There seem to be a number of complicating factors here, including Dave Filoni doing some amount of work on Mandalorian and Grogu, plus the idea that the movie takes place story-wise before Ahsoka season 2 (it's not confirmed she or other characters from the show will appear in the film yet). The film will be (allegedly) released in May of 2026, so then ~3 months later, we'll see Ahsoka season 2.
The show also had to recast Baylan Skoll, played by Ray Stevenson before his tragic death in 2023 (before filming). The character will now be play4ed by Stevenson's friend and Game of Thrones veteran Rory McCann. The rest of the cast will return, including new fan-favorite and Skoll apprentice, Shin Hati, played by Ivanna Sakhno. There are also reports that Hayden Christensen may appear as Anakin in another cameo in season 2.
It's a frustrating situation, but Disney Star Wars is often a series of frustrating situations, being handled poorly over the years compared to Marvel properties with disjointed films, axed or overly expensive shows and other issues. Ahsoka may actually be the only show confirmed to even be coming back for another season at this point.

Dave Portnoy target of antisemitic comment during Barstool Sports pizza review
Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy was on the receiving end of an antisemitic comment as he filmed a pizza review in Toronto. This incident comes about a month after a server at a Barstool Sports bar in Philadelphia allegedly carried out a sign during a bottle service that read 'f–k the Jews.' Dave Portnoy heard the comment during a pizza review in Toronto. 'Who the f—k would do that sign in my f—king bar? You think I'm just gonna sit here? I'm gonna make it my f—king mission to put you in lights. My f—king mission,' Portnoy said in the immediate aftermath of the sign going viral. 'What I'm saying is, I'm getting the names, I'm trying to be a little responsible, I'm trying to keep it together, but I'm on it,' he said. 'But I'm on it. I'm f—king on it.' Portnoy chided the fans for laughing after the comments. Hotel security officer testifies Diddy paid $100K to suppress assault video

Much of today's testimony was spent revisiting Diddy's March 2016 assault on Casandra Ventura, an incident at the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles that was captured on security video and shown to jurors at the start of his trial. Eddy Garcia, the hotel's security supervisor, testified that Diddy and his team desperately wanted to get the sole copy of the video and prevent it from getting out. In exchange for $100,000 divided among members of the hotel's security team, Garcia said, he signed a nondisclosure agreement that called for his silence and the destruction of evidence. Here's what else to know about today's testimony: Garcia testified that he was so 'nervous' about the NDA that he didn't read it all before he signed it. Diddy presented stacks of cash in a brown paper bag, added Garcia, who said he bought a used car with his $30,000 share. Garcia also said he wasn't initially truthful to police when he was asked about the assault. On cross-examination, the defense pointed out the NDA didn't stop Garcia from speaking about it in legal proceedings, a line of questioning presumably intended to undermine the government's potential claim of obstruction of justice. Suddenly, a woman in the courtroom began shouting in defense of Diddy, including that 'it's not right what they're doing to him' and 'Diddy's innocent.' She was quickly removed. Prosecutors later told Subramanian that the true name and identity of 'Mia' were being reported and asked for him to ban the outlet that made them public from the court.
