A driver in a Torch Red C8 Corvette Convertible learned the hard way that excessive speed doesn't go unnoticed, after being clocked at 127 MPH in a 65 MPH zone on Tulsa's Broken Arrow Expressway.
Tulsa police say a traffic officer was passed by the speeding Corvette at nearly double the posted speed limit on Wednesday afternoon. The driver was quickly pulled over and issued a citation, but the consequences go beyond a simple ticket.
Under Oklahoma law, exceeding the speed limit by 25 MPH or more constitutes aggravated speeding, which requires a mandatory court appearance. The offense carries a fine of up to $500 or even a possible jail sentence of up to 10 days.
Adding some humor to the situation, Tulsa Police took to Facebook to put the penalty into perspective, comparing the fine to the rising cost of groceries. 'That would be $8 for every MPH over the speed limit or one carton of eggs per MPH,' the department joked. 'Since he was driving a Vette, maybe the cost of eggs isn't a concern.'
While the Chevrolet Corvette C8 is built for speed, hitting the accelerator too hard on public roads can quickly lead to legal trouble. The driver's next stop? A mandatory court date, where they'll face the full consequences of their high-speed joyride.

Goose no longer loose: Police announce capture of 5-foot lizard

Goose, the 5-foot-long water monitor lizard that escaped its home weeks ago, has been captured, according to the Webster Police Department. The Webster Police Department announced on their Facebook page Saturday the capture of the lizard, promising to have more details to share. The illegally owned reptile escaped its home in Webster on July 18. His escape prompted Webster Animal Control to search for the area off Upper Gore Road. On July 25, Goose was spotted walking in the area of Little Pond on Wilsonville and Thompson roads in Thompson, Connecticut, about five miles south of Webster. Goose then crossed state lines again as he was seen back in Massachusetts, in Douglas. The wayward lizard's story has inspired several people online to post memes and AI-generated pictures of Goose. On Saturday, the Uxbridge Police Department made a post on Facebook, with Chief Marc Montminy proclaiming that if Goose crossed into Uxbridge, he would be deputized. But with the Webster Police Department's announcement of Goose's capture, it seems that the water monitor lizard will have to wait for his deputy badge. 2-year-old in critical condition after falling from Worcester window

Editors note: This story was updated at 2:35 on Aug. 2 to include information from Lt. Sean Murtha of the Worcester Police Department. A 2-year-old boy is in critical condition after falling from a window onto their driveway, according to the Worcester Police Department. Police officers, members of the Worcester Fire Department and Worcester EMS all arrived near 490 Shrewsbury St. on Friday afternoon, according to a post on the police department's Facebook page. They met with the father of the child, who was taking him to the emergency room, the post reads. The father told the officials that his son had fallen from the window of their home and that he was unresponsive. Officers performed CPR on the child, who was driven to a nearby hospital. The child's identity has not been revealed. Lt. Sean Murtha told MassLive on Saturday that the child is still in critical condition. An investigation by detectives revealed that the child had fallen through a closed window screen and fallen 10 to 12 feet to the driveway below, according to the department. The home is located in the Hamilton Street neighborhood. The incident is still under investigation but it appears to be accidental as of Friday, police said. Jacksonville Police Dept. concludes speeding enforcement campaign with 32 tickets

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — The Jacksonville Police Department issued more than 30 speeding tickets during a recent campaign to crack down on drivers going over the speed limit. The Department conducted the campaign between July 8 and Aug. 1 under the tagline 'Speeding catches up with you.' It was part of a statewide campaign involving multiple law enforcement agencies, the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Illinois State Police. Champaign Police Dept. announces results of speed awareness campaign The department released the results of that campaign via Facebook on Monday. Officers issued 32 speeding tickets while also issuing tickets or arrests for three people with suspended or revoked licenses and for one uninsured motorist. 'We continue to urge all drivers traveling through our community to slow down, obey speed limits and drive responsibly,' Chief Doug Thompson said in a statement. 'Every decision you make behind the wheel matters — it's truly not a game.' Thompson's quote and the 'Speeding catches up with you' campaign align with IDOT's broader 'It's Not a Game' initiative. IDOT also provided the highway safety funding that went into Jacksonville's campaign. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
