Mundo Deportivo: Spanish move to expel Israel from European Competitions
Madrid - Saba:
The newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" said that Spain is leading an organized campaign to push the European Union to exclude "Israel" from all European sports competitions, similar to what happened with Russia, after it launched a military war in Ukraine in 2022.
The Spanish newspaper indicated today, Friday, that Spanish Sports Minister Bella Alegria, 47, announced that her country is ready, along with the European Union, to start discussions about excluding "Israel" from all sports, continental and international tournaments.
Minister Alegria emphasized that the European Union countries agreed to exclude Russia from sports championships, most notably the Olympic Games, which were held in the French capital Paris in the summer of 2024, due to the military invasion of Ukraine in 2022, calling on the International Olympic Committee to take the initiative and not wait for political governments to issue their decisions.
Mundo Deportivo concluded its report that the Spanish Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sport wants all international and European sports bodies to move during the coming period, and not wait for politicians to take action against Israel, which continues to violate human rights and commit massacres against innocent people in the Gaza Strip, since October 7, 2023.

Moscow: NATO rearmament plans designed for conflict with Russia
Moscow - Saba: Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko has confirmed that NATO's plans to rearm the armies of alliance members, increase military budgets, and reform the command structure are specifically designed for a military confrontation with Russia. Grushko told Sputnik on the sidelines of the Future 2050 Forum in Moscow: "If we look back at NATO, we really see—and this is evident not only in the exercises, but also in the plans to re-equip armies, increase military budgets, reform the command structure, and create new commands—that all of this military buildup is, to a large extent, designed for a military confrontation with Russia." The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister also noted that the alliance's readiness for a conflict with Russia is a reality that today defines Moscow's military and political relations with NATO countries. These statements come a day after NATO exercises in the Baltic Sea, at a time when the European region is experiencing unprecedented tensions since the end of the Cold War, amid strained relations between the West and Russia over the Ukrainian crisis. These massive military exercises aim to test NATO's ability to rapidly deploy forces over long distances and enhance coordination between the various militaries of the alliance's members. In recent years, Russia has observed unprecedented NATO activity near its western borders. The alliance is expanding the scope of its initiatives, describing them as "containing Russian aggression." Moscow has expressed concern on several occasions about the alliance's bolstering of its forces in Europe. The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that Russia remains open to dialogue with NATO, but on an equal footing, while the West must abandon its path toward militarization of the continent. Washington to cut funds for weapons purchases to Ukraine
Washington - Saba: US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced on Tuesday that the United States plans to cut funds allocated in the 2026 fiscal year budget for the purchase of new weapons for delivery to Ukraine. During a hearing before the US House Appropriations Committee, in response to a question about the fate of the security assistance initiative to Ukraine in the 2026 budget, Hegseth said, "There is a cut in this budget. As you know, this administration has a completely different vision for this conflict (between Russia and Ukraine)." He continued, "We believe that a negotiated peaceful settlement is in the interest of both parties to the conflict and in the interest of the United States of America, especially in light of the competing interests around the world," according to Russia's Sputnik news agency. Ukraine has received massive financial and military aid from Western countries, primarily the United States and other European countries, since the start of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Western countries, through the material, military, and political support they provide to Kyiv, are seeking to obstruct the objectives of the special military operation. However, Moscow has emphasized on more than one occasion that military operations in the Donbas region will not cease until all of its objectives are achieved. Whatsapp Telegram Email
