Police officers get the scoop when they pop into popular ice-cream parlour

Police officers got the scoop when the dropped into a popular ice-cream parlour as part of their neighbourhood policing.
Milk Maids on Manchester Road also serves as a farm shop - selling locally sourced produce as well as coffee and sweet treats.
The shop is based at Dearden's Farm in Over Hulton and has remained in the hands of the Partington family since 1955.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) met the staff and discussed issues affecting the area.
They said that they will continue to jobs" target="_blank">work with Milk Maids and the rest of the community.

A spokesperson for GMP Bolton said: "Today local Neighbourhood Officers met with Milk Maids on Manchester Road to discuss the driving standards in the area, a clear priority for the Hulton community.
"Work will continue in partnership with Milk Maids to ensure drivers are parking and driving correctly so residents and customers can safely enjoy their days and their ice cream!"

The multi-award winning store is currently run by Fiona Partington and her sister, Rebecca Partington, alongside a close-knit team of 10, as well as her parents Anne-Marie and Michael.
The farm was initially taken over by Patricia and John Partington in 1955 before being turned into a parlour and tea shop.
The store even sources their coffee beans as locally as possible, selling a Bolton coffee brand called Oddy Knocky, which roasts the beans locally.

A fire at a community centre in Pensnett has sparked an 'avoid the area' warning. Firefighters were called to Chapel Street in the early hours of Tuesday morning (August 19). West Midlands Fire Service took to X just before 5am to urge people to stay away "where possible". A harrowing video taken by the killed hood shows him attacking sibling Don Webley, who is out of frame in the clip, in an Edinburgh pub just weeks before he died, reports The Record. Marc, then 38, is singing in a selfie clip before spotting his brother and yells: 'Don' before thrusting his head into him. Marc responds 'F*** sake', before the footage ends. The video was posted online by a gang member of drugs boss Mark Richardson and the Daniel crime clan. It said: 'Don Webley, convicted rapist.' Don was jailed was back in April for seven years for a sickening sex offence which saw his victim running into the street half naked and screaming for help. The woman had earlier dubbed him 'a beast' and pleaded for help in messages before she fled from the Edinburgh flat where she was subjected to the ordeal. He denied raping the woman at his flat in Granton Medway, Edinburgh, on September 18, 2022. He claimed in a special defence that sexual activity between them was consensual. But a jury at the High Court in Edinburgh convicted him on a majority verdict in February 2025 of committing the sex crime during which he grabbed the woman, removed her lower clothing, licked her ear and raped her. Three people are due to stand trial over the shooting of Marc, outside a pub in Edinburgh's West Granton Road. Grant Hunter, 33, Emma McVie, 26, and Gary Robertson, 21, deny the charges.
