Rahul Gandhi to visit Poonch today
Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi will visit Poonch on Saturday and meet victims of recent Pakistan shelling, Congress national general secretary Ghulam Ahmad Mir said.
He added, 'Rahul Gandhi is visiting Poonch to mee the families affected by Pakistani shelling. He wants to extend solidarity with the bereaved families.'
Rahul Gandhi visited Srinagar on April 25. AICC general secretary Jairam Ramesh also relayed the information on X.
'Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Shri @RahulGandhi will be visiting Poonch tomorrow May 24th to meet the families bereaved during the shelling by Pakistan very recently. Earlier, he had visited Srinagar on April 25th to meet with those injured during the brutal Pahalgam terror attack and many other stakeholders. He had also met with the LG and the CM then,' he said in the post.

Quoting the audit, Cooper said, "In the local data that the audit identified clear evidence of over-representation amongst suspects of Asian and Pakistani heritage, and she refers to examples of organisations avoiding the topic altogether for fear of appearing racist or raising community tensions."Cooper assured that the vast majority of British Asian and Pakistani-heritage communities are "appalled" by such crimes and agreed that offenders must face strict legal consequences. She also promised an "unequivocal apology" to victims and announced that rape laws would be tightened. Additionally, many girls previously convicted of child prostitution would be enquiry will address decades of systemic failures, which Cooper attributed to "blindness, ignorance, prejudice, defensiveness and even good but misdirected intentions".The move comes after Prime Minister Keir Starmer over the weekend pledged to implement all 12 recommendations made by Baroness Casey, including the national 197-page report described the term "group-based child sexual exploitation" as a sanitised phrase for crimes involving "multiple sexual assaults committed against children by multiple men on multiple occasions". It detailed severe abuse, including forced abortions, sexually transmitted infections and children taken from victims at report called for accurate recording of perpetrator's ethnicity and for authorities to treat all exploited minors as children first, not delinquents or issue re-entered public discourse earlier this year after Tesla CEO Elon Musk criticised the UK government's handling of past scandals involving grooming gangs. CM distorted history: Venugopal
SLUG-India's Israel policy Kozhikode: AICC general secretary KC Venugopal accused chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan of twisting history by targeting the Congress party in his remarks on Israel during the LDF's Nilambur bypoll campaign. "The Congress party has always stood firmly and consistently for the liberation and rights of the Palestinian people since the time of Mahatma Gandhi. This position is not about winning votes or political gains," said Venugopal. He pointed out that the Congress' solidarity with Palestine has been unwavering throughout successive governments led by Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and others. Every AICC session had passed resolutions expressing the party's support for Palestine, he said. Pinarayi Vijayan had recently criticized previous Congress-led govts at the Centre for moving away from India's long-standing policy of keeping distance from Israel. "Most recently, following the current crisis, AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi were among the first to take a strong stand against these developments. Six months ago, in protest against the massacre in Gaza, Priyanka symbolically brought a bag with the Palestinian emblem into Parliament- a move that triggered protests from Sangh Parivar. Not a single communist leader came forward to support her. But now, just two days before the elections, they've decided to bring this up," he said. Venugopal also recalled that it was Vijayan himself who met with the Israeli consul general in December 2022 and spoke about strengthening trade ties between Kerala and Israel, remarking then that such relations should be viewed positively. "What the chief minister is doing now is sheer opportunism. He is trying to use the issue to influence (bypoll)," alleged Venugopal.

Announce full loan waiver for farmers or step down: Cong
Nagpur: The Maharashtra Congress last week launched a blistering attack on the BJP-led state govt over its "failure" to announce a blanket loan waiver for farmers, and the delay in providing the promised Rs 2,100 monthly allowance to eligible women under Ladki Bahin scheme. Congress leaders said any further delay would trigger large-scale public unrest and warned the ruling alliance to either fulfil its commitments or vacate power.
