"Cong shares Pakistan's delusion": BJP hits back at Opposition leader's remarks on Op Sindoor
New Delhi [India], May 21 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla on Wednesday attacked Congress leaders for their comments on Operation Sindoor, India's response to the Pahalgam terror attack, accusing the party of behaving like the Public Relations department of the Pakistani forces. 'The incoming drones sent by Ghulam Ahmad Mir and Vijay Wadettiwar make it seem that the Congress party is behaving more like DG ISPR (Inter-Services Public Relations). It looks like the Congress party has taken the onus on themselves to create content for Pakistan since Pakistani YouTubers' and influencers ' shops have been shut down in India,' Poonwalla attacked Congress during a press conference in Delhi. The remarks came amidst Wadettiwar claiming that India used missiles worth Rs 15 lakh to shoot down Pakistan's China-made drones only worth Rs 15 thousand. Ghulam Ahmad Mir had claimed that Operation Sindoor was merely a 'minor activity' during a public meeting. The BJP spokesperson accused the party of being propagating Pakistan's narrative, and 'sharing the delusion' that the Pakistan army won during the increased hostilities at the border. 'Congress is clearly assisting Pakistan to propagate its narrative. Congress shares Pakistan's delusion that the Pakistan army won,' he said. Poonwalla further challenged the Congress to show how the party had responded post the 26/11 terror attacks, adding, 'Why don't they tell the world the big moves they made after 26/11? 'Sena ka apman, yahi Congress party ki ban chuki hai pehchan; maano Congress aur Pakistan do shareer ek jaan.' Earlier, Congress' Wadettiwar alleged, 'There are discussions that they (Pakistan) launched 5,000 China-made drones and the value of each drone was Rs 15,000. To destroy each drone worth Rs 15,000, we launched missiles worth Rs 15 lakh. This was a part of China's tactic, these are the discussions, however I don't know the truth.' India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 as a decisive military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed. Indian Armed Forces targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, leading to the death of over 100 terrorists affiliated with terror outfits like the Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen. After India's strike on terror infrastructure, Pakistan responded with cross-border shelling across the Line of Control (LoC) and Jammu and Kashmir, as well as attempted drone attacks targeting civilian areas along the border regions. In response, India neutralised Pakistani air defence apparatus, radar infrastructure, and communication centres, and inflicted heavy damage across 11 airbases in Pakistan. An all party delegation is also set to be sent to various countries to brief them about India's zero-tolerance policy on terror and expose Pakistan's support for terrorism. (ANI)

Abrogation of Article 370 more political than to curb militancy: Congress leader Ghulam Ahmad Mir
Congress leader Ghulam Ahmad Mir NEW DELHI: Congress leader Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Monday criticised the Centre over the abrogation of Article 370, suggesting it was a political move rather than a genuine attempt to tackle militancy in Jammu and Kashmir . His remarks came during a special session of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly held to discuss the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam. Mir expressed disappointment that despite seven years having passed since Article 370 was scrapped, militancy still continues in the region. Speaking during the session, he said, "How many times should we pass this resolution, these condolences To prevail in peace in Jammu and Kashmir and to end militancy, the central government has taken a lot of steps. The decision taken on 5th August 2019 was also taken for this purpose. The country was told that to end the militancy in Jammu and Kashmir and to reorganise and downgrade, Article 370 had to be removed. Now, even after seven years, the steps that were taken were not in response to eliminate the militancy but were more for politics. This should not happen." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Your Finger Shape Says a Lot About Your Personality, Read Now Tips and Tricks Undo The session began with J&K deputy chief minister Surinder Choudhary moving a resolution to condemn the Pahalgam terror attack. He also supported the diplomatic actions announced by the Union Government following the Cabinet Committee on Security's meeting. Before the session started, Mir highlighted the rising violence and said the Pahalgam incident had deeply shocked the nation. He stated, "The intensity of the situation and the incident has shocked everyone. This is not just about one community. No step will be enough right now... These incidents have become very frequent, and now the nation wants concrete steps against this... There is no point in talks right now." The Pahalgam attack is considered one of the worst in the Kashmir Valley since the 2019 Pulwama attack, where 40 CRPF jawans lost their lives. In response, India has adopted tough measures against Pakistan for its continued support of cross-border terrorism.

J-K Congress face: ‘Tourists have said Pahalgam had no security or checks… so attackers did not face any challenge'
The All India Congress Committee (AICC)'s general secretary Ghulam Ahmad Mir is also the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader in Jammu and Kashmir, who represents the Dooru constituency in the Valley. A three-time MLA, he has previously also served as the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president. In an interview with The Indian Express, Mir speaks about a range of issues related to the April 22 terrorist attack on tourists at the Baisaran meadow in South Kashmir's Pahalgam in which 26 people were killed. Excerpts: Q: More than 48 hours have passed since the Pahalgam attack. As a senior leader from Kashmir, what is your assessment of the incident? Firstly, the attack happened at an unexpected place and in an unexpected way. This was the peak of the tourism season, and the locals were happy about it. Because there are no government jobs, this was a moment of tourism and the masses were involved in it, so then there are no chances of such incidents. Unless such elements have support from locals, such incidents don't happen. The public doesn't support such activities or elements – and this is a common feeling. And no one can imagine an incident like this in Pahalgam. There are many tourist destinations, and some are in very vulnerable areas. But Pahalgam is most popular and most secure. Because it is on the permanent route of the Amarnath Yatra. For three months during the Yatra, there is a three-tier security cover. People always thought there were strong security checks there. Q. Did Pahalgam lack security this time? Tourists have said there were no security checks there (Pahalgam) this time. There was no security at Baisaran. If Jammu and Kashmir police was there or someone in uniform, the attackers would have faced some challenge. Previously, there used to be army patrol there besides the CRPF deployment – and the J&K police also used to move around there. Q. Do you think the BJP -led central government is accountable for it? That is what I am saying – that it is the people's question, not mine. Most people are raising these questions and we are doing the same as a party. This is the common feeling there. That why this happened? This spot (Baisaran) is seven kilometre uphill from the last point where cars go. Thousands go there every day. It is a common feeling that some security personnel should have kept a watch. Q. Why are you alleging intelligence and security failure? This is what the common people have on their minds. It is somewhere a failure of intelligence agencies and security for such an important area. Q. You are an ally in the National Conference-led J&K government and a former tourism minister. How would the crisis of tourists' trust be resolved in the wake of Pahalgam attack? There are many Kashmir lovers. Such attacks were made in an organised way earlier too. But Kashmir lovers can't find elsewhere what they find in Kashmir. Tourism in Kashmir is not because of someone's publicity. Tourists love Kashmir and Kashmiri people love them… I can confidently say that such acts (like Pahalgam attack) are not supported by anyone in Kashmir, be it of any age group. Q. As part of its diplomatic retaliation against Pakistan, the government has suspended the Indus Water Treaty. What is your take? Something was expected from the government. But will these steps establish peace and harmony. Everyone wants to get rid of militancy and wants peace and happiness. Is this move in that direction and will it help? It was timely, but what will happen at a later stage? Q. Thursday's CWC resolution attacks the BJP for 'exploiting this grave tragedy through official and proxy social media platforms to sow further discord, mistrust, polarization and division at a time when unity and solidarity is most needed'. What do you make of it? You must understand that the one with a gun has a target and an agenda. If as a national political party, you are taking their agenda forward, then you are helping their cause.
