'Technical issue' forces Cebu Pacific flight to Tawi-Tawi to return to Zamboanga
Flight 5J4965, carrying 157 passengers, was scheduled to leave Zamboanga at 11:35 a.m. and arrive in Tawi-Tawi at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 29.
'CAAP confirms that a Cebu Pacific flight bound for Tawi-Tawi safely returned to Zamboanga International Airport this morning due to an aircraft technical issue,' the CAAP advisory said.
'A recovery flight with a changed aircraft has been scheduled, with an estimated departure time of 3 p.m. today,' it added. Further details were not immediately available.
For its part, Cebu Pacific said the flight returned to Zamboanga at 12:12 p.m., with passengers provided meals and assistance while awaiting the recovery flight which left at 4:09 p.m. using an upgraded A320neo aircraft. The carrier did not elaborate on the technical issue.
"We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused and thank our passengers for their patience and understanding," the airline said. —RF, GMA Integrated News
