Box Office: Housefull 5 has a good second weekend; Akshay Kumar starrer collects Rs 26 crore

The Akshay Kumar-led Housefull 5 has scored good results in the second weekend, as the film grew from Rs 5.75 crore on Friday, to Rs 11.00 crore on Sunday. The comic caper has clocked Rs 26 crore in the second weekend, taking 10-day total collections to Rs 140.25 crore. While the second-weekend trend is good, the overall collections are average, as a lot more is expected from the fifth instalment of a franchise film. With an upward trajectory in the second weekend, Housefull 5 stays in the race for a finish of Rs 175 crore in India, which ensures that the producers would not lose money, though there might not be profits too at this number. There is competition from Sitaare Zameen Par in the coming weekend, which means that the film will lose screens, but there should be enough showcasing to stay steady at lower numbers. Housefull 5 will end up being a success, though an average one. The film will stand in the north of Rs 150 crore at the end of the second week, and then it's all about the trend from there, which will decide if the run closes at Rs 175 crore, or Rs 190 crore. The global total at the end of second weekend for Housefull 5 stands around Rs 216 crore, and the film will be looking to finish in the range of Rs 270 crore. A finish in India around the Rs 200 crore mark, and a global closure at Rs 300 crore would have been sweeter, ensuring the clean hit tag, but none-the-less, the performance of Housefull 5 is decent enough, and a lot better than most of the releases featuring Akshay Kumar in the post-pandemic world. The actor would be looking to scale up further in September with Jolly LLB 3, which seems to be among the awaited films of the year. Housefull 5 Week Wise Box Office Collection: Week One: Rs 114.40 crore 2nd Friday: Rs 5.75 crore 2nd Saturday: Rs 9.10 crore 2nd Sunday: Rs 11.00 crore (Expected) Total: Rs 140.25 crore

Kuberaa trailer: Dhanush plays a beggar who challenges status quo; Nagarjuna believes in the power of money

Kuberaa trailer:The trailer for Sekhar Kammula's Dhanush, Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna and Jim Sarbh-starrer Kuberaa was released at a pre-release event held in Hyderabad on Sunday. SS Rajamouli was the chief guest. Expectations are high on the film as it's Dhanush's debut in Telugu and Sekhar's second film in Tamil after Anaamika. (Also Read: Kuberaa producer claims Prime Video threatened to cut ₹10 crore from deal if film isn't released on time) The trailer begins with Dhanush, who plays a beggar, wondering about the value of crores. Nagarjuna states that in this country, money and power work, not ethics or justice, as history has shown. While supportive of Dhanush, he also seems to have a grey side. Rashmika's character seems to be someone whom Dhanush's character has faith in, despite her insisting otherwise. She also believes the rich and powerful will always rule the world. A character even wonders how a beggar threw a whole government into risk. It ends with Dhanush challenging the status quo. The pre-release event of Kuberaa was initially scheduled to be held on 13 June but was postponed after the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad. The film's team made the announcement and wrote, 'The pre-release event of Kuberaa, scheduled for tomorrow, has been postponed in light of the tragic Ahmedabad flight crash. We stand in solidarity with the grieving families.' They also added, 'Our hearts go out to all affected by the devastating plane crash in Ahmedabad. We extend our sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims. May you find strength in this difficult time.' Kuberaa is slated for release on 20 June and is produced by Suniel Narang and Puskur Rammohan Rao of Amigos Creations. The film has music composed by Devi Sri Prasad. Dhanush, who essayed the role of a beggar in the film, recalled shooting at a dumpyard for hours. At the launch of the song Pippi Pippi Dum Dum Dum, he said, 'To see another part of the world, a sight which you're not exposed to... You're always in your comfort zone, like you do only what's convenient, you're protected. I come from very humble roots.' He also said that shooting for Kuberaa took him back to his childhood, 'Today, I'm here by God's grace. I've seen that, and to go back there to see that world again, it was very enlightening and nostalgic. I'm very thankful to this film for so many reasons, but it takes me back to my childhood as well as one of them.'

'Amitabh Will Always Be Mine': Jaya Bachchan fought Rekha for her husband, asked Rekha to forget...

Affairs, weddings, and divorces are common in Bollywood. One of the most infamous rumoured affairs was that of Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan. Though the affair was never confirmed, a lot of speculations were made. Both Amitabh and Rekha have worked in several movies. However, do you know that there was a time when, despite knowing the speculation about an affair between Amitabh and Rekha, Jaya Bachchan called Rekha for lunch and opened her heart in front of her? Author Hanif Zaveri once revealed how Rekha came into Amitabh Bachchan's life. Though Amitabh tied the knot with Jaya, the speculations of Rekha and Amitabh growing close became stronger. Their chemistry in their films, especially in Silsila, added fuel to the fire, leading many to believe that it was a reflection of their real-life love triangle. During his conversation, Zaveri said that Amitabh and Rekha's relationship deepened during the shooting of Do Anjaane. He recalled and said, 'This affection, this bonding, was formed during the shooting of the film Do Anjaane. They came very close, and I don't know how they fell in love with each other. But it was 100% certain that both of them started loving each other.' Upon seeing the growing closeness, Jaya Bachchan planned to invite Rekha. After a warm lunch, when it was time to leave, Jaya, with her cutting words, said, 'Amitabh was, is, and will always be mine.' However, a turning point came in Amitabh's life when he featured in Coolie and met with a fatal accident. It was Jaya Bachchan who had put her heart and soul into the recovery of Big B. Upon seeing this, Amitabh started to distance himself from Rekha.
