Crews tackle waste and tyres fire at yard near Basildon and A127

Crews from three stations have been tackling a fire at a household waste and tyres site that has sent smoke billowing over a main road.Essex firefighters from Billericay, Basildon and Corringham were called to Oak Road, at Crays Hill at 09:00 GMT.Essex County Fire and Rescue Service (ECFRS) advised nearby residents to close all windows and doors.Drivers were advised to be cautious as smoke from the fire was blowing over the A127.
No injuries have been reported.

A major A-road has been blocked in both directions following a collision which left a car in a ditch. National Highways said the A47 in Norfolk was blocked between the A149 at Runham Roundabout in Great Yarmouth and the A1064 at Acle. Norfolk Police said it was called to the scene at about 06:30 BST on Thursday to a two-vehicle collision. The force has advised people to avoid the area and find alternative routes.
