Hugh Grant looks to be one tired tennis fan at Wimbledon

CNN09-07-2025
An exciting tennis game was no match for how sleepy Hugh Grant appeared to be Wednesday at Wimbledon.
The 'Heretic' actor was caught on camera seemingly dozing while sitting in the Royal Box at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in England during the quarterfinal match between Novak Djokovic and Flavio Cobolli.
In the clip, Grant is seen sitting next to his wife Anna Elisabet Eberstein wearing a pair of sunglasses when his head appears to slump over to his right side, his hands clasped together in his lap.
The clip has gone viral on social media, with many users noticing that Grant appeared to be asleep during the game.
Another image captured and reposted to X shows Grant leaning over to his right side in his seat, which was located in the row behind Queen Camilla and her sister Annabel Elliot. Grant was, however, seen in another clip very much awake, having a lively conversation with the royal sisters at one point during the match.

While Grant may be the only person at Wimbledon caught possibly taking a quick nap, there were plenty of other famous faces who've attended the esteemed Tennis competition since it started last month, including Joe Alwyn, Hannah Waddingham, Glen Powell and Cate Blanchett.
Andrew Garfield and 'A Complete Unknown' actress Monica Barbaro also went public with their romance when they attended Day 7 of Wimbledon together last week, walking in holding hands and wearing matching all-white outfits.
As for the match that Grant attended Wednesday, Tennis champion Djokovic beat Cobolli in four sets. Djokovic will face men's world No. 1 Jannik Sinner in the semifinal Friday.

Everton in advanced talks to sign Southampton winger Tyler Dibling

Everton are in advanced talks with Southampton over a summer deal for attacker Tyler Dibling, according to one renowned Toffees insider on X. The Saints have given the 19-year-old permission to hold talks with Everton over personal terms ahead of a potential move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium club, and the deal could be worth a little over £35 million. The Toffees have been trying to sign Dibling for a while since Southampton got relegated, and they had their £27m bid rejected last week, but they are now closing in on a deal from the look of things. The reliable Everton insider (followed by the likes of Alan Myers, Fabrizio Romano, Jason Burt and Christopher Beesley on social media) reported via X on Monday afternoon that talks are ongoing between both clubs. The winger could become the fourth summer arrival at the Merseyside club after Thierno Barry, Adam Aznou and Mark Travers. Southampton had insisted they wanted over £100m for Dibling amid interest from the Toffees, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Bayern Munich. However, they have had to settle for a little over a third of that and Everton will be glad to have pipped fierce competition to his services. The versatile Dibling can play as a right winger, a striker, a central midfielder and behind a striker, and manager David Moyes could do with such a talented player within his ranks. He weighed in with four goals and three assists in 38 appearances across all competitions last term, and he has what it takes to become one of the best attackers in the Premier League under the tutelage of the Everton boss. The Toffees are desperate to quickly wrap up more deals in the final month of the summer transfer window and have also approached Chelsea for English midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Both clubs are in talks over a permanent transfer, and an agreement could be reached in the coming days as the Stamford Bridge club want to sell the former Leicester City star.

Watch: LPGA's Mimi Rhodes makes bank-in hole-in-one

Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Mimi Rhodes swept her 8-iron and lofted a shot onto the green before tapping Steph Kyriacou's ball for a unique hole-in-one at the 2025 AIG Women's Open. The sequence occurred on hole No. 5 at Royal Porthcawl Golf Club on Sunday in Porthcawl, Wales. Rhodes tied for 19th at the final major of the LPGA Tour season. "I wasn't expecting it to go in, so I just picked up my tee and I heard everyone going crazy, extra louder than usual, so I knew something had happened," Rhodes told reporters. "Then we just walked up to the green and it was in the hole. "I had no idea it hit Steph's ball until I just saw the video, so that's unbelievable." Rhodes, ranked No. 93 in the world, made par on her first three holes of the final round. She carded a bogey on No. 4 before walking up to the tee box on the 184-yard fifth hole. She kept her head down before smacking her club face into the ball, sending it high over the fairway and hitting the green. The ball bounced several times before it hit Kyriacou's ball, bounced right and fell in the hole. "Did that go in" Rhodes asked, before hugging her caddie. Rhodes went on to make par on Nos. 6 and 7. She carded another bogey on No. 8, but birdied No. 9 to carry a score of 1-under into the back nine. She made bogey three times and birdie once over her final nine holes to finish 2-over on the day and 1-under for the tournament. Miyu Yamashita, who was 2-under through her final 18 holes, finished 11-under to win the first major title of her career. Minamim Katsu and Charley Hull tied for second at 9-under. Kyriacou, who also nearly aced No. 5 in the final round, made a hole-in-one on No. 8 during the second round of the tournament. She was 1-under over her final 18 holes and tied for eighth overall at 6-under.

Tyler Dibling: Everton table improved bid for Southampton winger

Everton have made an improved bid for Southampton winger Tyler Dibling. Southampton are yet to respond to the offer, which is worth in the region of £40million including add-ons, but they are seeking a higher fee for the teenager, and it is expected to be rebuffed. Everton have already seen an opening offer for Dibling turned down this summer. He is keen to return to the Premier League, having never played in the Championship, following Southampton's relegation last season. The 19-year-old's contract at St. Mary's runs until 2027 and he has also attracted interest from Aston Villa and Newcastle United. Dibling was a regular for Southampton last term, making 38 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals and three assists, though he could not help save the club from returning straight to the Championship as they finished bottom of the top flight table. After spending eight years in Southampton's academy, Dibling joined Chelsea's youth setup in 2022. However, he only featured twice for the west London side and rejoined Southampton later that year. Advertisement Dibling signed his first professional contract in 2023 and made his senior debut in August of that year in a 3-1 defeat against Gillingham in the Carabao Cup. He primarily featured for the club's under-21 side in the 2023-24 season before establishing himself as a first team regular in the subsequent campaign following Southampton's promotion to the Premier League. The winger has made 43 appearances for the club in total. The Athletic reported on Monday that Everton are also in talks over a permanent deal for Chelsea's Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Everton have been active in the transfer market this summer, securing the arrivals of Adam Aznou, Thierno Barry and Mark Travers this summer, and also signed Carlos Alcaraz permanently following his loan spell at Goodison Park last season. The Athletic also reported on July 26 that the club were in talks with Lyon over a potential deal for winger Malick Fofana. ()
