Australia completed a historic sweep of their Caribbean tour, defeating West Indies by three wickets in the final Twenty20 international cricket match on Monday, achieving an unprecedented 8-0 record across all formats.
The victory marked Australia's first-ever sweep of a five-game T20 series, becoming only the second team to accomplish this feat at the elite level after India's success against New Zealand in 2019-20.
Australia won the toss for the eighth consecutive time and elected to field first, restricting West Indies to 170 runs in 19.4 overs. Shimron Hetmyer scored 52 from 31 balls, while Sherfane Rutherford contributed 35 off 17 deliveries.
Ben Dwarshuis led the Australian bowling attack with figures of 3-41, supported by Nathan Ellis who took 2-32. Adam Zampa marked his 100th T20 international with 1-20.
"To be honest, I didn't expect 5-0," Australia captain
Mitchell Marsh
said. "It was something we spoke about after the fourth game. We knew no Australian team had done it. It'll be something we're very proud of. Across the board over the five games, we played some really good cricket."

Australia chased down the target, reaching 173-7 with three overs remaining. Mitchell Owen (37 off 17) and
Cameron Green
(32 off 18) stabilised the innings with a crucial 63-run partnership for the fifth wicket, while Aaron Hardie remained unbeaten on 28.
The West Indies bowlers initially put Australia under pressure, with Jason Holder and Alzarri Joseph claiming two wickets each in the powerplay. Holder dismissed Glenn Maxwell for a golden duck and Josh Inglis for 10 runs.
Joseph removed Marsh (14) and Tim David (30 off 12) as Australia struggled at 60-4 in the fifth over. Owen and Green then took control with aggressive batting, including a memorable six by Owen that landed on a pavilion roof.
Akeal Hosein's late introduction to the bowling attack proved effective as he claimed 3-17, dismissing Owen, Green, and Dwarshuis.
"A lot of guys had great series," said Green, who was named Player of the Series.
"We've got about half a team who're allrounders. That's the beauty of what we're trying to build here. A lot of depth."
Green further added: "You always want to win every game you can. T20 can be a bit of a lottery at times, so to build a bit of consistency is important. Good signs."
The series victory included three previous dominant performances: a three-wicket win in the opener, an eight-wicket victory in Jamaica that marked Andre Russell's final match for West Indies, and a win highlighted by Tim David's 37-ball century in St.
Kitts.
Australia's upcoming schedule includes a T20 series against South Africa next month, while West Indies will face Pakistan in a series comprising three T20s and three one-day internationals.

Joel Embiid's knee injury report raises concern ahead of Philadelphia 76ers training camp (Image Source: Getty Images) Joel Embiid has been one of the biggest stars for the Philadelphia 76ers in recent years. But now, his health has become a serious talking point again. Many people around the league are closely watching updates about his condition. There are also whispers that his team may not be very happy with the situation. Still, not everything is clear just yet. Growing concerns over Joel Embiid's knee as training camp returns remain uncertain Joel Embiid, the star center of the Philadelphia 76ers, is reportedly dealing with a troubling knee injury. According to a report by Brett Siegel on X, Embiid's recovery hasn't gone well this offseason. League sources told ClutchPoints that the 30-year-old has not been able to get back on the court as expected. The team isn't sure anymore if Joel Embiid will be ready when training camp begins later this year. There's growing doubt, and it's coming at a tough time. In 2021, the Philadelphia 76ers locked in Joel Embiid with a massive four-year contract worth around $213 million. It was clear they were all in on him as the face of the franchise. Then in 2024, they added even more time to that deal, hoping to keep him for the long run. But with all the injury trouble he's had lately, and the uncertainty heading into camp, some folks around the league are starting to wonder if the team jumped the gun by extending him again. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like What Happens When You Massage Baking Soda Into Your Scalp Read More Undo But now, some people close to the league think the Philadelphia 76ers might be second-guessing that call. Embiid's injuries have been a repeated issue, and the concerns aren't going away. With his knee still bothering him, some are wondering if the team made the right choice. Joel Embiid's knee concerns: What rival teams said, when they said it, and how the doubts surfaced During the 2025 NBA Summer League held in Las Vegas in July, multiple team executives from the Eastern Conference shared their thoughts on the matter with ClutchPoints. One executive said that Philadelphia has been sending 'mixed signals' about Embiid's knee status. The word 'bad' was reportedly used by several sources to describe the condition of his knee this offseason. "People in the front office are nervous," one Eastern Conference executive said to ClutchPoints. "There's talk behind the scenes that the 76ers aren't fully confident in his recovery timeline." Joel Embiid has battled through a long list of injuries over the years — from his foot and back to his knee. Last season, he was limited to just 39 games after tearing his meniscus. With questions still hanging over his recovery, there's growing concern about what this means for Philly moving forward.
