Exclusive: Shilpa and Suniel Shetty on Dhadkan turning 25! Say knew people would relate to the film

Shilpa Shetty and Suniel Shetty in Dhadkan
Twenty-five years ago, Dhadkan, starring
Suniel Shetty
, Akshay Kumar and
Shilpa Shetty
Kundra, and directed by
Dharmesh Darshan
, became a hit, with its songs achieving immense popularity. While Dev (Suniel) and Anjali's (Shilpa) love story in the film remained incomplete, 25 years later, the two actors reflect on the emotional rollercoaster behind the film's scenes and share why Dhadkan strikes a chord with audiences even today.
Dhadkan is keeping me alive through the third decade of my career: Suniel Shetty
Action works only when there is emotion. I have always backed my action with emotion, because then it works like magic at the box office. I was following the vision of director Dharmesh Darshan, and that made it far easier for me. We are well aware how Dev's character came alive on screen. Dhadkan means the world to me because it's keeping me alive through the third decade of my career. After the film, my life changed as an actor.
Also, my approach changed, as I looked at every role with as much intensity and understood that acting is all about getting into the skin and putting your heart and soul into the character. I was never known to be a brilliant actor, but it was because of Dhadkan that people started believing that Suniel Shetty can act! The credit goes to our director, Dharmesh Darshan.
Dulhe ka sehra was the most difficult song of my career: Shilpa Shetty
It wasn't a scene that we shot first. We shot the most difficult song of my career, Dulhe Ka Sehra.

I was sporting a blue lehenga. We were shooting in Film City, and my sister, who had just learned to put mehendi, did the full mehendi design on my hands with a sketch pen. She touched it up every two days because the shoot of the song went on for a good eight days. I remember for the bidaai scene, Dharmesh wanted me to cry in a particular way and look at Kiranji (Kiran Kumar, who played her father).
We did some 20 takes for that shot.
Dulhe Ka Sehra went on to become a huge hit. I knew it was a film that many people would relate to.
Shilpa on the most challenging scene in the film
I remember the scene when Suniel comes back, and we meet in his hotel room after the song Aksar Iss Duniya Mein. I tell him, 'Iss janam mein toh kya, mein agle saat janam tak Ram ki ho chuki hoon.' And then, he says the iconic line, 'Main tumhe bhool jau, yeh ho nahi sakta, aur tum mujhe bhool jao yeh main hone nahi doonga.' I feel it could have been very cheesy if we hadn't said it with conviction.
It was a very complex scene.
If Dhadkan was to be remade...
Shilpa
: I'm not pro remakes because I think it kills the whole essence and the soul of a film. But, if it had to be remade, maybe Alia Bhatt as Anjali could fit well with Ranbir Kapoor as Ram and Ranveer Singh as Dev
Suniel
: Only Dharmesh Darshan can do a good job with its remake, and Ahan (Shetty) can play my role, Dev
Suniel on Arbaaz Khan and Sanjay Dutt being considered for his role in Dhadkan
I know that I was the first choice for the film. Initially, I had to turn it down because things got delayed and my dates were clashing. Eventually, I did it purely because Dharmesh wanted me to.

When Fahadh Faasil said no to 'The Revenant' director Alejandro Iñárritu; 'I didn't feel the fire'

(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) Fahadh Faasil , one of Malayalam cinema 's most celebrated actors, recently revealed that he once had the chance to work in a film directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu. Known for masterpieces like 'Birdman' and 'The Revenant', Iñárritu had even connected with Fahadh over a video call. Yet, despite the enormity of the opportunity, Fahadh chose to let it go and here's the reason why. Why he declined the offer In an interview with Cue Studio during the promotions of his latest film 'Oduṁ Kuthira Chadum Kuthira', Fahadh shared that the reason he turned down the role was his accent. 'What didn't work for him was my accent. To fix that, he said I would need to stay in the US for about four months, during which there would be no payment. That's why I let go of the opportunity,' he admitted. Fahadh added that while many actors would have grabbed the chance, he didn't feel the fire to put in so much effort only for the sake of altering his speech. The Revenant: Official teaser trailer Contentment within Malayalam cinema - 'All the magic in my life has happened here' Instead of looking at the missed chance with regret, Fahadh expressed deep gratitude for what Malayalam cinema has given him. 'All the magic in my life has happened here. If any change is to happen, I want it to happen here itself. I don't feel the need to go outside Kerala in search of that change or magic,' he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Fans react to his choice Fahadh Faasil's statement has gone viral on social media. 'War 2' box office collection day 3: The Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, Kiara Advani starrer crosses the Rs 140 crore mark despite a MAJOR drop, while Rajinikanth's ‘Coolie' enjoys the reign on Saturday

Packed with high-octane action sequences, one of the much-awaited spy thrillers, 'War 2' made it to the theatres on Friday, August 14, 2025. Starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr. NTR, and Kiara Advani in the lead, clashed at the box office with Thaliavar Rajinikanth's 'Coolie,' which, needless to say, was one of 2025's biggest big screen clashes. The film made an impressive opening and kept the cash registers ringing even on day 2, surpassing the 'Coolie'; however, on day 3, i.e., on Saturday, the film witnessed a significant drop in collections and was beaten by the Rajini starrer. 'War 2' box office collection day 3 update According to Sacnilk, the movie opened with an impressive number of Rs 52 Cr across all languages. In this, it made Rs 29 Cr in Hindi, Rs 0.25 Cr in Tamil, and Rs 22.75 Cr in Telugu. Thereafter, on Independence Day, the movie witnessed a growth of around 10 percent, and the business went up to Rs 57.35 Cr, in which the collection from Hindi was Rs 44.5 Cr, Tamil Rs 0.35 Cr, and Telugu Rs 12.5 Cr. However, on Saturday, the movies couldn't enjoy the weekend and festive surge of Janmashtami, as the collection went down to Rs. 33 Cr (early estimates) across all languages in India. With this, the total collection of 'War 2' after 3 days stands at Rs. 142.35 Cr. At this pace, the movie is expected to cross Rs. 150 cr with ease and create a new record. Competition from Rajinikanth's 'Coolie' Thalaviar's action drama surpassed the collection of 'War 2' on day 1, as it made Rs. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Could This NEW Collagen Blend Finally Reduce Your Cellulite? However, on day 2, it was outperformed by the Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR starrer and made Rs. 54.75 CR. On Saturday, just like 'War 2', the movie witnessed a major drop, yet it collected Rs. 38.50 Cr, and took the lead in the box office race. As of now, the movie has made Rs. 158.25 Cr in the domestic market. 'War 2' Review With a rating of 3 stars from TOI critics, excerpts from our review of the movie read - 'Hrithik Roshan brings gravitas to the screen as the roguish yet poised Kabir. He impresses as a high-octane action hero and in the film's emotional moments. Junior NTR matches his energy and intensity, holding his own as a performer and in executing the action sequences. Kiara Advani makes her presence felt despite limited screen time, though the use of stunt doubles in an early fight scene is noticeable. Ashutosh Rana and Anil Kapoor are impactful in their roles. War 2 offers high-octane moments, striking visuals, and polished production to make for a passable big-screen experience. Strictly watchable only if you're in it purely for the action and spectacle.'
