INXS' Never Tear Us Apart wins top gong in Hottest Aussie 100
Audiences have been voting for months to reveal Australia's favourite song in the annual countdown that showcases some of the nation's best homegrown music talent.
Celebrating on behalf of the band, founding member and drummer Jon Farriss joined the radio station on Saturday night to reflect on the win.
'We feel so blessed and we're very grateful,' Farriss said.
Australian hip hop royalty The Hilltop Hoods came in at number two with their 2003 hit The Nosebleed Section.
Queensland pop duo The Veronicas and their 2007 hit Untouched, Missy Higgins' breakout 2004 single Scar and Don't Dream It's Over by Crowded House rounded out the top five.
Reflecting on their number three spot, Jess and Lisa Origliasso said for 'just two girls from Brisbane', the countdown had brought them to tears.
'We're on top of the world right now ... this is such a huge honour for us,' Jess Origliasso said.
Higgins also joined the radio station, telling presenters she couldn't believe Scar still resonated with Australian audiences more than 20 years since its debut.
'I can't quite believe it — I feel like the luckiest person ever,' she said moments after the song was played.
The countdown is typically comprised of the best songs of the year from all over the world but the youth station hosted a special mid-year poll dedicated to Aussie artists and tracks to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
Belgian-born Australian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Gotye squeezed in to cinch the number 10 spot with his 2011 hit Somebody That I Used To Know.
Other notable mentions included Australian music great John Farnham, voted in at number 15 with his 1986 hit You're the Voice.
Daryl Braithwaite's The Horses came in at number 30, with Natalie Imbruglia's Torn voted in at 32.
More than 2.65 million votes were tallied for the countdown, the station's fourth-largest poll, according to the broadcaster.
Eight tracks in the countdown were separated by fewer than 10 votes, and only 30 votes separated songs 100 and 101.
The countdown kicked off at 10am AEST on Saturday and wrapped at 8pm.

Model Jesinta Franklin — the wife of AFL legend Lance Franklin — has revealed she has been through pregnancy hell over the past few months. Baby No.3 is due in late December and Jesinta has admitted the first trimester has been hard going. After being house bound for almost three months, Jesinta says she has come out the other side and is now stepping up her public appearances. 'Sadly I'm not someone who thrives when they are pregnant.' In another post, she added: 'The reality of the last six weeks. House, couch or bed bound given the odd occasion. Finally succumbed to medication and it's been game-changing.' Lance and Jesinta do not have plans to have more children but Jesinta said the looming third was 'an absolute blessing'. 'Even though we thought we were happy and done with two beautiful children, we have been lucky enough to add another to the family,' she said. 'Life works in mysterious ways and I'm leaning into this next chapter with a grateful heart. 'Lulu and Rocky are beside themselves and can't wait to meet their baby.' Lance Franklin recently appeared on Channel 7's Sunrise after running a half marathon at the start of this month. He spoke excitedly about the new baby but said they were going to be tested. 'It's going to be busy, it's going to be very busy but it's so exciting obviously,' Buddy said. 'The third's on its way, will be born late December, early January, which is really exciting. We're going to be busy. 'It's juggling being a father and making time to get out and be active and run around, it's that juggling act, but absolutely loving it.' Sunrise star Monique Wright laughed: 'The third one tips you over the edge, Buddy, but in a great way.' Franklin replied: 'Yeah, I know, that's exactly right. JT (NRL icon Johnathan Thurston) would know, JT's got four!' Jesinta and Buddy have this time decided to keep the gender of the baby a surprise until its birth. Melbourne's International Film Festival runs from August 7 to 24. On Thursday night those who attended watched Australian actor Rose Byrne in the US psychological comedy drama If I Had Legs I Would Kick You. The highly acclaimed film is directed by Mary Bronstein and also star Conan O'Brien, Danielle Macdonald, and Christian Slater.

The lawyer for Charlotte MacInnes has issued Wilson, who directed and acts in the musical comedy, with a concerns notice alleging a series of Instagram posts damaged her reputation. The first stage of defamation proceedings, the concerns notice adds to the legal turmoil around The Deb, which had a world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last year but is yet to be released. The claims include that Wilson defamed MacInnes, who plays one of two teenagers who attend a debutant ball in a country town, by saying she lied by denying making a complaint about unwanted sexual advances by producer Amanda Ghost while making the film. Loading It is also claimed that Wilson defamed MacInnes by saying she changed her story after Ghost hired her in the lead role of a production and gave her a record deal and that MacInnes supported the UK producers blocking the film's release at the expense of the 300 people who worked on the film.
