Star of troubled film The Deb claims Rebel Wilson defamed her
The lawyer for Charlotte MacInnes has issued Wilson, who directed and acts in the musical comedy, with a concerns notice alleging a series of Instagram posts damaged her reputation.
The first stage of defamation proceedings, the concerns notice adds to the legal turmoil around The Deb, which had a world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last year but is yet to be released.
The claims include that Wilson defamed MacInnes, who plays one of two teenagers who attend a debutant ball in a country town, by saying she lied by denying making a complaint about unwanted sexual advances by producer Amanda Ghost while making the film.

It is also claimed that Wilson defamed MacInnes by saying she changed her story after Ghost hired her in the lead role of a production and gave her a record deal and that MacInnes supported the UK producers blocking the film's release at the expense of the 300 people who worked on the film.
Patrick George, from law firm Giles George, wrote that these posts 'have each caused or are likely to cause serious harm' to McInnes' reputation.
'This was her first lead role in a film and you cruelled her professional reputation before she could even enjoy the benefit of the success of the film as the lead actress,' George said.
McInnes' claim includes seeking aggravated damages because Wilson publicly named her as an alleged victim of sexual harassment without her consent then accused her of lying about it.

I figured that if you were going to go red, you may as well go hard, leaning into the bold, flavour-rich notes of the iconic Australian drop. I'm not going to spoil anything here, but as with director Zach Creggar's previous flick, Barbarian, Weapons is a sometimes tense, sometimes funny ride through an absolutely horrific situation. Here, though, it's a whole town suffering. 17 kids, all from the same class, have gone missing in the middle of the night, and parents are pointing the finger at class teacher Ms. Grady. Things slowly spiral out of control as individuals throughout the town start getting sucked into the escalating mystery. My Chemical Romance fans think they've teased a UK tour
My Chemical Romance have hinted at a UK tour. The Teenagers rockers are currently on the North American leg of their Long Live The Black Parade stadium tour and have dates booked in South America and Asia next year. And on Friday (08.08.25), the group suggested they could also be planning a return to the UK after sharing a new video featuring an old-school TV game show called Quizzo. In the clip, the host said: 'Our two fine contestants will help us learn who will be the next lucky country to win the grand prize of one nuclear winter." After a player pushes a big button, the host revealed: 'Congratulations, United Kingdom!' The post caused fans in the comment to query whether it meant some new tour dates are to be announced soon. This isn't the first time the group have sparked speculation with a cryptic post because last month, fans were convinced new music was on their way. A picture depicting a stage light was captioned on the band's Instagram: "A dagger, a dagger, Please fetch me a dagger." The art also features the clue "Time: 7:11:25:00". Sadly for fans, new material didn't materialise and it seemed to be a reference to the start of their Long Live The Black Parade stadium tour in the US. In 2022, MCR released their first new music in a almost decade, the single The Foundations of Decay. In February, Frank Iero kept tight-lipped on rumours about a new My Chemical Romance album. The guitarist and backup vocalist insisted that there was no news to tell with regards to new material. Asked if there is anything to 'report' about a follow-up to 2010's Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys, he told NME: 'No, sorry. 'When that stuff – if that stuff were to happen, we will tell you. We will tell you in the way we want to tell you.' The 43-year-old musician also stayed schtum about the Long Live The Black Parade Tour heading across the pond to the UK. He said: 'It's been long-documented that we are huge fans of the UK – this is a home away from home for us. 'We've done things where the first place we played for a record release was the UK. It's always felt like a place that we love and that we hold very dear. But, to tell the future? It would be remiss to do that.'
