Charles joined by David Beckham and Meryl Streep to celebrate award winners
The King has been joined by a host of stars to celebrate the achievements of young talent and senior figures recognised by his foundation. Charles met David Beckham, Stanley Tucci and Penny Lancaster, all King's Foundation ambassadors, alongside friends of the charitable body, Hollywood stars Kate Winslet and Meryl Streep, at the St James's Palace awards ceremony. Prizes including Young Entrepreneur and Advocate of the Year were presented by the celebrities including the King Charles III Harmony Award, recognising a long-term commitment to the foundation's mission of creating a world where people, places and the planet can live in harmony. Charles met his foundation's famous supporters and award winners before touring stands showcasing the charity's work, and Winslet smiled as she told him: 'Don't worry, I'll be all in – I've got your back.' Celebrity chef Raymond Blanc hailed the King for his campaigning over the decades on issues like communities, sustainability and traditional crafts that underpin the foundation, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary. His ITV series Raymond Blanc's Royal Kitchen Gardens took him to palaces like Hampton Court and Hillsborough, as well as Highgrove House and the Castle of Mey – places Charles calls home. Blanc, a foundation ambassador, said after meeting Charles: 'I think what the King has done is extraordinary. He's done it for many, many years – from the 1970s, about the same time I arrived in England – and my values are his values. 'There's a deep belief in connecting human beings with communities, with agriculture, with sustainability, management of waste, management of energy, and he has done it for the last 45, 50 years.' Speaking about filming at the King's Scottish retreat, the Castle of Mey, which once belonged to his grandmother the Queen Mother, Blanc added: 'I really believe he got all his values seeing his grandma in this beautiful space. 'So natural, close to the sea, at the tip of Scotland where there was such a reservoir of natural things.' Blanc's words were echoed by Penny Lancaster who praised the monarch for creating the awards and highlighting the needs of the planet throughout his adult life. She added: 'The King may have been accused of hugging trees and people thinking he was mad when he started talking about the environment all that time ago, but he was at the forefront then and now has been proved right with everything he said and now we're all just trying to play catch up. 'I really recognise the beauty in the way he is trying to get us on board with his knowledge and if we can pass that on to the younger generation, and save some of the traditional skills like we've seen with these winners today, we can all be a part of making a difference.' The King's Foundation, previously known as The Prince's Foundation following an amalgamation of Charles' charities which stretch back to 1990, aims to 'advocate for the change His Majesty wants to see in the world'. The Emerging Talent prize was presented by Beckham, the former England football captain rumoured to be knighted soon, to Emily Hurst who has shown exceptional talent and commitment while on a King's Foundation programme. She recently completed the Chanel and King's Foundation Metiers d'Art Fellowship in Millinery, based at Highgrove Gardens after she had become fascinated with the heritage craft of straw braiding and began learning to produce hats from the material. She said: 'Working at Highgrove was absolutely the best place to be, surrounded by so much inspiration from His Majesty's garden and learning from some of the best milliners with country, I'm so incredibly honoured.'

Emmerdale star reveals character was almost 'written out' of ITV soap
An Emmerdale star has opened up on the death of her mother and her 'best friend' saying she 'learned a lot about grief' in the process. Lisa Riley, known for playing Mandy Dingle on the ITV soap, lost her mother in July 2012. The tragedy was just months before she joined BBC dancing show Strictly Come Dancing, where she was paired up with Robin Windsor. Riley credits Windsor for helping her get through the grief and has now opened up on her mother and Windsor's deaths. Really excited to be going on @GMB this coming Thursday 12th June. Launching something very dear to my heart with @Sue_Ryder and discussing what's coming up for Mandy & Paddy in @emmerdale 💛💛💛 #gmb #goodmorning #goodmorningbritain #sueryder #charity #emmerdale #london 💙💙💙 — LISA RILEY (BLUE TICK) (@Reallisariley) June 10, 2025 Robin Windsor died in February last year at the age of 44. The Latin and ballroom dancer was best known for appearing on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing. His cause of death was not given. Riley has now opened up on coping with the deaths of Windsor and her mother on ITV's Good Morning Britain. She said: 'I've learned a lot about grief and how to deal with it, and how to be open and to literally ask for help, because it's okay. 'Sometimes people go really within, my brother's that person, we all deal with things differently, and I was pressing the bravado button going, 'I've got to go out and play Mandy Dingle every day, I've got to dress up as Mandy and be funny'. 'There were some days I didn't want to be funny, I'm lucky with the brilliant girls in my dressing room, where we lean on each other, and my work with Sue Ryder, I've realised that there is a helpline out there. 'The internet is brilliant, there are so many places you can go to, Sue Ryder being one of them for help.' She also praised the Emmerdale team for their support, calling them 'phenomenal' after they offered to write out her character to give her time off. Riley added that she wanted to continue working, saying she 'knows it's what Robin would have wanted'. The actress said: 'Me, being me, I didn't want to be at home in my bedroom, or at home thinking about it too much, I had to carry on with my day job. 'But the make-up girls, what people at home won't know when they're watching Emmerdale is I was having my make-up done three times because I couldn't get it together, I couldn't, day in, day out, and work were brilliant, like we know, we'll write you out, we'll give you time off should you need it. Fans have taken to social media to send support to Riley after opening up about her grief. She posted an Instagram reel in support of the Sue Ryder Charity, saying: "You are never ever ever alone with @surerydercharity. Please go to the webpage if you are struggling - there will be someone to listen." One fan replied: "Sending hugs Lisa, how brave you are for sharing your story, your Mum sounds like a wonderful woman." A second added: "This made me cry, bless ur heart, Lisa, your mum would be so proud of the lovely woman you are. Lots of love." A number of characters have left the popular ITV soap this year. Emmerdale legend Lesley Dunlop, who plays Brenda Walker, has left after 16 years. This Morning viewers call for 'more' Steph McGovern after presenter's appearance on rival programme
This Morning viewers have called for 'more' Steph McGovern after the presenter made an appearance on her former rival programme. The 43-year-old got her break in the media world when she became a main producer for the Today programme's daily financial news on BBC Radio 4. Going on to produce BBC One's Six and Ten O'Clock news, Steph began appearing on camera in 2011 as BBC Breakfast's main business presenter. The show originally launched as The Steph Show in March 2020 and had to be broadcast from the presenter's house due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It returned later that summer under the new name of Steph's Packed Lunch. Broadcast from Leeds, the series featured showbiz interviews, cooking segments, news, and consumer advice. When it premiered, the series began airing at 12.30 pm, going head to head with ITV's panel show Loose Women. It later got an extra 30 minutes, moving its start time to during This Morning's final 30 minutes. Steph's Packed Lunch was cancelled by Channel 4 in 2023, with a spokesperson placing the decision down to 'audience habits changing quicker than ever'. They said at the time: 'We have to make difficult decisions about which programmes to invest in to best drive our digital-first strategy and we have decided not to recommission Steph's Packed Lunch when its existing production contract ends in December 2023. Several months on from competing on Netflix reality show Celebrity Bear Hunt, Steph was on This Morning on Thursday (June 12). Despite previously going up against two of ITV's flagship programmes in the ratings war, Steph got on well with Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard. Sitting alongside This Morning contributor Nick Ferrari, Steph discussed a number of the day's big news stories, including the Indian plane crash. Steph and Nick also discussed whether there is still a rivalry between the north and south, with Steph hailing from Tyne and Wear. Those watching This Morning at home took to X, previously known as Twitter, to have their say on Steph's appearance. @SabrinaSpectre said: 'Steph McGovern is such a brilliant broadcaster and we need her back on our screens more.' @philm2244 added: 'Bring back Steph's packed lunch.' @Boppity_Boo34 wrote: 'Like Steph I'm a proud northerner and there still is a north/south divide and also Yorkshire never gets a mention not even on the bloody weather lol #ThisMorning.' @Mate_of_Bob commented: 'I like the woman who was with @NickFerrariLBC. Who is she? Articulate, intelligent, funny and a Northerner!' @Mysteron_Voice posted: 'Ironic really that Steph McGovern's lunchtime show on Channel 4 was pitched directly *against* This Morning and Loose Women, and now here she is on This Morning.'
