Three NASCAR Cup champions crash in Talladega pit entry stack-up
That's when three Cup champions and former winners at the famed track suffered significant damage early in Sunday's 500-mile race.
It began when RFK Racing's Brad Keselowski, who has the most wins of any active driver in the Cup Series at this superspeedway, slowed down to entered the pit lane under green. Fellow Cup champion Kyle Busch was unable to slow in time and got into the back of Keselowski, sending both cars spinning across the track. After hitting the door of Alex Bowman's No. 48 machine, they spun back to the inside. That's where Ryan Blaney got clipped in the right-rear by Keselowski, spinning wildly down the frontstretch.
"I don't know what happened," radioed Busch. "We never dropped below the yellow line there. I don't know if they checked up too much for him or what." Busch's steering wheel was knocked 90 degrees to the right, and the team needed to make repairs to the toe of his No. 8 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet.
Keselowski and Blaney react to early exit
While Busch remained on track, both Keselowski and Blaney were forced to take their cars behind the wall. They are officially out of the race.

"Just a stack of guys trying to come to pit road as fast as they could," said Keselowski after exiting the infield care center. "We were kind of the ham in the sandwich. I got squeezed. I don't know, I waved down the backstretch just to let everyone know I was gonna pit. I came off (Turn) 4 and everybody was still tight behind me. I didn't even have a chance to really turn left. Hate that it ruined, not just our day, but several other people's days, but I don't feel like I could have done anything different."
Blaney thought he had found a way through the chaos, but the change of direction left him with no way to go and his fourth DNF in the first ten races.
"I feel like we're all easily pretty decent getting to pit road," said Blaney. "Just kind of the point in the race where everyone is going to save some gas and then pit and everyone usually does a really good job of letting people know. I didn't sense anything was gonna happen. Really, from what I could see, the 6 [Keselowski] was trying to get to pit road with his group and I don't know if the the guy behind him [Busch] didn't know, didn't see and just kind of ran Brad over.
"And when they got hooked together, they were going up the track, so I just kind of committed to the bottom and I think they clipped someone on the top and ricocheted the 6 [Keselowski] back down the race track into me. That just stinks. Another DNF is no fun. We've just been riddled with those this year. Hopefully we can get that sorted out and get a little fortune on our side."

Officially, Keselowski finish 38th and Blaney 39th. Busch's car is wounded, but he was able to stay on the lead lap.

JRM and Trackhouse Clash over Connor Zilisch's Return After Xfinity Fall
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. JR Motorsports has confirmed that its NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Connor Zilisch is ready to race at this weekend's Wawa 250 at the Daytona International Speedway. However, Trackhouse Racing, the team that fields Zilisch in a Cup Series car, admitted that his condition is still being monitored on a day-to-day basis, and there is no hurry to put him back in the car until he is completely fit to race. After winning the Xfinity race at Watkins Glen, Zilisch climbed on top of his car to celebrate the milestone. However, he immediately fell head first and broke his collarbone. He underwent surgery to expedite the healing process so he could get back to racing as soon as possible. The 19-year-old driver leads the Xfinity Series championship, and the upcoming race weekend could add to his chances of winning the championship. JRM confirmed that Zilisch will be driving the No. 88 JR Motorsports Chevrolet this weekend. Zilisch was to race in the Cup Series with Trackhouse the day after his fall, but the injury led to his absence. Now, Trackhouse owner Justin Marks has opened up on Zilisch's racing return, suggesting that a decision will be taken depending on the extent of his recovery. Speaking to SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, as quoted by NASCAR, he said: Connor Zilisch, driver of the #88 Registix Chevrolet, waves to fans as he walks onstage during driver intros prior to the NASCAR Xfinity Series Mission 200 at The Glen at Watkins Glen International on August... Connor Zilisch, driver of the #88 Registix Chevrolet, waves to fans as he walks onstage during driver intros prior to the NASCAR Xfinity Series Mission 200 at The Glen at Watkins Glen International on August 09, 2025 in Watkins Glen, New York. More"It's a balance. It's a balance between a 19-year-old kid who just wants to be in the race car and can't stand not being in the race car and is capable of driving the race car right now. And the other side of that is we need to make a smart decision. What we can't do is rush him back into the car, especially a place like Daytona, get in a wreck and then be worse off than we were before. "So it's kind of a day-by-day deal right now. This will be a big week to see how his rehab goes and his comfort level and all that stuff. And it could end up being a game-time decision. I know that we all want him back in the race car. He wants to be back in the race car. JRM wants him to be back in the race car. But we've got to make smart decisions, so I would just say, stay tuned on that one." Zilisch leads the Xfinity Series championship by seven points over Justin Allgaier. The race at Watkins Glen was Zilisch's sixth race win of the season. NASCAR Reaches Ticket Milestone For Thrilling Richmond Raceway Cup Race
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. The Cook Out 400 at Richmond Raceway was completely sold out on Saturday, as fans flocked to witness the high-speed action that the three-quarter-mile oval delivers. The race turned out to be a huge hit as William Byron clinched the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series Regular Season Championship, while Austin Dillon secured his sixth career victory. Richmond Raceway President Lori Collier Waran broke the news of the sellout ahead of the Cup race. She said: "Our fans have long told us that Saturday night NASCAR Cup Series racing and Richmond Raceway are a perfect combination, so this announcement is a testament to them. We are grateful for their enthusiasm and support, which is going to make tonight's Cook Out 400 a celebration we'll long remember." Dillon led the race for 107 laps, a first for the No. 3 in the Cup Series since Dale Earnhardt led 107 laps in his legendary victory in the 1998 Daytona 500. The win marks Dillon's sixth victory in the Cup Series, which came a year after his previous win at Richmond. A general view of racing during the NASCAR Cup Series Cook Out 400 at Richmond Raceway on August 16, 2025 in Richmond, successfully secured a spot in the playoffs, offering Richard Childress Racing a shot at the Cup Series championship. Addressing his first win of the season, he said: "Man, that feels good, got to thank the good Lord above. I really wanted that one. Last year hurt really bad, just going through the whole process of it. But this one feels so sweet. Man, I love Richmond. "God has timing. His timing is the best timing. ... It's just so special. Every one of these means so much to me. My grandfather [NASCAR Hall of Fame team owner Richard Childress], for all that he's put up in believing in me, because there's been a lot of ups and downs, could have been easy for him to change the drivers in this 3-car. Today it feels really darn good." Byron, who finished the Cup race in 12th place, won his first regular-season championship at Richmond Raceway. He started the 2025 Cup Series season on a high note by winning the Daytona 500 for the second time. He needed to finish 62 points ahead of the runner-up to win the championship. Speaking about the big achievement, Byron said: "It's really the best 12th-place finish I've ever had. We came in here and really just did a solid job. We qualified solid. We always want more, but this is definitely our toughest race track. We just kind of came in here, had a solid plan and executed it. "This team has worked extremely hard. All the guys have worked hard through the summer months. Feel like this has been the best summer we've ever had speed-wise. Had a lot of tough things happen throughout probably really early July. We had a lot of speed, but some crashes in practice and qualifying. Just some car issues and things that happened. Just really, really cool."

Ram Trucks to Partner With Kaulig Racing for 2026 NASCAR Return
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Stellantis' Ram Trucks will return to NASCAR in 2026 in the Craftsman Truck Series, and while it is reportedly in talks with several teams to field its trucks, a strong link to Kaulig Racing has emerged. Ram returns to NASCAR after 13 years, following Dodge's departure from the sport in 2012. Now, the brand's main focus is to partner with teams that facilitate a smooth entry into the sport, especially those that compete across all three series. That would allow Ram to capitalize on a direct link to the Cup Series, racing in which is the American brand's ultimate goal. According to Kaulig Racing president Chris Rice, who seems to be eager to go racing with the new manufacturer, Ram is said to have been in talks with several teams for a deal. Despite Kaulig's absence in the Truck Series, he acknowledged on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio that his team is open to racing in any series to win. Rice said: (L-R) Tim Kuniskis, CEO Ram Brand - Stellantis, NASCAR Executive Vice President Steve O'Donnell and John Probst, SVP of Innovation and Racing Development pose at the Ram display on the midway for the announcement that... (L-R) Tim Kuniskis, CEO Ram Brand - Stellantis, NASCAR Executive Vice President Steve O'Donnell and John Probst, SVP of Innovation and Racing Development pose at the Ram display on the midway for the announcement that the Ram brand will return to NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series competition, prior to the NASCAR Cup Series FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway on June 08, 2025 in Brooklyn, Michigan. More"I think it's still up in the air (on partnering with Ram); I think it's a couple teams in the mix. But I can promise you one thing. If we get it, I will guarantee you, I'll be able to tell you guys, and we'll be smiling about it. How about that?" When asked if racing in the Truck Series is a possibility for Kaulig, he said: "I think it's always possible. I just said we're going to be aggressive. You never know about us. Anything can happen." A report by Sport Business Journal stated that Kaulig "has been increasingly bandied about in recent weeks by industry executives, with some rivals in the sport now pointing to Kaulig as a team that has a real chance of ending up with Stellantis." The team is known to have been exploring the prospect of racing in the Truck Series while ensuring its partnership with Chevrolet remains secure and stable in the Xfinity and Cup Series. Tim Kuniskis, CEO of Ram, said in a statement in June that further details about the brand's Truck Series program will be shared eventually. Newsweek Sports reported: "For more than a decade, customers and our dealer network asked about getting back into NASCAR. The desire was always there, but we didn't have a plan that delivered the last tenth and following just didn't fit our DNA. Now we have a solid plan that will set us apart from the field and will bring fresh new interest and engagement to America's Motorsport. "There will be more details on our NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series program later this year. We are undoubtedly having fun with this project, and I truly look forward to sharing information on our team and how getting back on track relates to the future of Ram performance."
