Kyle Busch to remain with Richard Childress Racing for 2026
Two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch has picked up an option in his contract that will keep him at Richard Childress Racing for the 2026 season. Busch is a winner of 63 Cup races -- more than any other current full-time driver. He also has more NASCAR Xfinity and Truck Series wins than any driver in history The highly successful driver began his Cup career with Hendrick Motorsports, earning Rookie of the Year in 2005. Advertisement He joined Joe Gibbs Racing in 2008, racing there through the 2022 season. In a shock to everyone in the garage, the two parties split after 15 seasons together with Busch moving over to RCR for 2023. He won three races in his first season with the team, but 2024 was a struggle. His streak of 19 consecutive seasons with a win came to an end and he enters this weekend's Coca-Cola 600 with a winless streak approaching 70 races. He currently sits 17th in the regular season standings. Kyle Busch, Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet Kyle Busch, Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet Jared C. Tilton/Getty Images Jared C. He will continue as a teammate to Austin Dillon, who drives the No. 3 RCR Chevrolet. Advertisement Busch is the second Cup driver to reveal their future plans this weekend with two-time Daytona 500 winner William Byron agreeing to a four-year contract extension with Hendrick Motorsports that will keep him as the driver of the No. 24 Chevrolet through 2029. Three NASCAR Cup champions crash in Talladega pit entry stack-up
On Lap 43 of 60 in the first stage at Talladega, green-flag pit stops were well underway. Exiting Turn 4, a group of Fords planned to pit together — and that's when disaster struck. That's when three Cup champions and former winners at the famed track suffered significant damage early in Sunday's 500-mile race. Advertisement It began when RFK Racing's Brad Keselowski, who has the most wins of any active driver in the Cup Series at this superspeedway, slowed down to entered the pit lane under green. Fellow Cup champion Kyle Busch was unable to slow in time and got into the back of Keselowski, sending both cars spinning across the track. After hitting the door of Alex Bowman's No. 48 machine, they spun back to the inside. That's where Ryan Blaney got clipped in the right-rear by Keselowski, spinning wildly down the frontstretch. "I don't know what happened," radioed Busch. "We never dropped below the yellow line there. I don't know if they checked up too much for him or what." Busch's steering wheel was knocked 90 degrees to the right, and the team needed to make repairs to the toe of his No. 8 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet. Keselowski and Blaney react to early exit While Busch remained on track, both Keselowski and Blaney were forced to take their cars behind the wall. They are officially out of the race. Advertisement "Just a stack of guys trying to come to pit road as fast as they could," said Keselowski after exiting the infield care center. "We were kind of the ham in the sandwich. I got squeezed. I don't know, I waved down the backstretch just to let everyone know I was gonna pit. I came off (Turn) 4 and everybody was still tight behind me. I didn't even have a chance to really turn left. Hate that it ruined, not just our day, but several other people's days, but I don't feel like I could have done anything different." Blaney thought he had found a way through the chaos, but the change of direction left him with no way to go and his fourth DNF in the first ten races. "I feel like we're all easily pretty decent getting to pit road," said Blaney. "Just kind of the point in the race where everyone is going to save some gas and then pit and everyone usually does a really good job of letting people know. I didn't sense anything was gonna happen. Really, from what I could see, the 6 [Keselowski] was trying to get to pit road with his group and I don't know if the the guy behind him [Busch] didn't know, didn't see and just kind of ran Brad over. "And when they got hooked together, they were going up the track, so I just kind of committed to the bottom and I think they clipped someone on the top and ricocheted the 6 [Keselowski] back down the race track into me. That just stinks. Another DNF is no fun. We've just been riddled with those this year. Hopefully we can get that sorted out and get a little fortune on our side." Advertisement Officially, Keselowski finish 38th and Blaney 39th. Busch's car is wounded, but he was able to stay on the lead lap. Jesse Love victorious in wild wreckfest at Rockingham
Motorsport photo After an action-packed race, slowed by 14 cautions, two red flags, and an overtime — Jesse Love became the lucky driver to take the No. 2 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet to Victory Lane at Rockingham. Advertisement For Love, Saturday's Xfinity win makes his third career win and his second of the 2025 season. It's also the 20-year-old's first series win at a non-drafting track. He excitedly climbed out the roof hatch of his car, sliding down the windshield/hood as he was presented with the checkered flag. While he did all that, his driverless No. 2 car proceeded to roll down the banking and into the infield grass. "Oh my gosh," said Love. "These fans are amazing. What an incredible race track. You probably can't even hear me right now (over the fans) but this race track is right up my alley. It's hammer down." Regarding the final restart, he added: "I don't know if I hit him [Sammy Smith] or if he stumbled, but I just had to get it done. I couldn't lose that one. We just had too good of piece." Advertisement Love also took advantage of his winning moment to urge fans to get themselves checked for skin cancer — dedicating the victory to his girlfriend's sister, Jessica, who passed away almost exactly one year ago from the disease. Chaos and calamity The race featured extremely high attrition as most of the drivers in the field had never raced here before, considering the NASCAR Xfinity Series hasn't raced Rockingham in 21 years. One of the only drivers with experience was Kasey Kahne, who was making his first appearance in any NASCAR race in nearly seven years. Unfortunately, he was collected in an early wreck involving Katherine Legge that left him with significant damage. He soldiered on and still finished 15th, but he no longer had a winning car under him. Kahne and Legge were the first of what would become many drivers to tear up their equipment at Rockingham. 82 laps were completed behind the pace car and a dozen cars failed to reach the checkered flag. The race for the win somewhat resembled Friday's Truck race with several drivers grabbing track position on a fuel-mileage gamble, hoping for enough caution laps to make it without pitting. And like the Truck race, most of them did not make it. Advertisement Leading that group was veteran Xfinity driver Ryan Sieg, still searching for his first win after 377 races and 12 years in the series. He was looking strong out front, fending off multiple attempts by Love to overtake him. But Sieg's dream of finally winning a national-level NASCAR race ended with less than 15 laps to go. While cruising under caution, Sieg's car -- running on fumes -- slowed abruptly, losing the lead as he was unable to keep pace. On the restart that followed, Christian Eckes ran out and triggered a multi-car wreck that collected Sieg as well. NASCAR was forced to red flag the race while they dealt with the carnage. The race resumed with just four laps to go with Smith muscling by Love for the race lead. Another driver [Sam Mayer] ran out of fuel as well, triggering yet another wreck in the midfield. Again, the race was briefly stopped for cleanup. Advertisement After 14 cautions, the event was pushed into overtime with the sun beginning to set behind the track (which does not have lights). Love restarted third, but quickly moved Smith out of the way, reclaiming the race lead and never looking back. Smith finished second, Parker Retzlaff third, Harrison Burton fourth, and Brennan Poole fifth. Taylor Gray, Austin Hill, Josh Williams, Jeb Burton, and Daniel Dye filled out the remainder of the top ten. Pit-crew members suspended for runaway wheels in Vegas
NASCAR handed down suspensions Wednesday to members of the pit crews for Kyle Busch and Chase Briscoe for detached wheels in last Sunday's Cup Series race in Las Vegas. The two-race suspensions were issued to members of Busch's No. 8 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet team and Briscoe's No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota team after wheels became unfastened during the Pennzoil 400. The suspensions will cover Sunday's race at Miami and the March 30 race at Martinsville for No. 8 crew members Dylan Moser (jack) and Shiloh Windsor (rear-tire changer) and No. 19 crew members Caleb Dirks (jack) and Daniel Smith (rear-tire changer). Briscoe finished 17th in the race won by Josh Berry in the No. 21 Wood Brothers Ford. Busch's day ended after 35 laps. Field Level Media 2025 - All Rights Reserved

Kyle Busch crashes with loose wheel, brake line issues at NASCAR Las Vegas race
Kyle Busch had a loose wheel and hit the outside wall at the NASCAR Las Vegas race, his home event as a Las Vegas native. Busch, who was running 11th on lap 113 in Sunday's Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, had the right rear wheel fly off the No. 8 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet. The wheel wasn't on all the way, so the aluminum alloy rim was rubbing against metal and was ground to a sharp piece and cut the tire. The rim separated from the tire and flew down the racetrack. Busch's car also had a brake line issue after hitting the wall. Busch's incident wasn't the first wheel issue in Sunday's race. Chase Briscoe had a loose wheel in the first stage of Sunday's race. Christopher Bell's team didn't get the left wheel tightened down all the way. He stopped in Briscoe's stall to get the wheel taken care of before he had a similar issue. Bell was penalized for pitting outside his pit stall and restarted at the end of the longest line. Busch has brought his car to the garage for more repairs. He is scored 36th.
