Blue Origin's all-women flight to launch today with Gayle King, Katy Perry on board
Blue Origin, Jeff Bezos's space tourism company, will launch its latest spaceflight this morning with a historic all-women crew.
Those on board 'New Shepard (NS)' include CBS This Morning host Gayle King, pop singer Katy Perry, activist Amanda Nguyen, aerospace engineer Aisha Bowe, film producer Kerianne Flynn and former TV host Lauren Sánchez, who is Bezos's fiancée.
This flight is called NS-31.
KIRO 7 will be taking the launch live throughout our morning newscasts.
Each spaceflight lasts about 11 minutes, taking passengers just past the Kármán line — 62 miles above Earth, which some international aviation and aerospace experts consider the threshold of space — allowing the crew to experience a few minutes of weightlessness.
The rocket will then descend back to Earth, with its single engine restarting to slow the booster down to just 6 mph for a controlled landing back on the launchpad. The capsule carrying the crew descends separately, deploying three parachutes for its landing nearby.
According to Elle Magazine, Bowe will be bringing up the Apollo 12 flag, courtesy of the Museum of Flight in Tukwila.
Crews have been prepping by taking zero-gravity flight simulations.
It's unclear how much a seat on the New Shepard costs, but according to its website, there's a $150,000 fully-refundable deposit to begin the process.
In 2022, MoonDAO, marketed as 'the internet's space program' said it paid about $2.5 million for two seats.

Blue Origin's Next Space Launch Is Saturday: Here's How to Stream and What to Know
Blue Origin has been on a roll in 2025 with multiple successful launches already, and its next one is coming up on Saturday. The NS-32 mission will take six people into suborbital space for a quick jaunt before returning back to Earth. It's the third such New Shepard mission in 2025 so far, and the 32nd in total. The prior launch famously included an all-female crew featuring pop star Katy Perry, TV personality Gayle King, and journalist Lauren Sanchez. This mission is set to launch from Blue Origin's Launch Site One location in West Texas at 9:30 a.m. ET on May 31. Like the prior New Shepard missions, NS-32 will take its six crew members above the Kármán line — the internationally recognized boundary between Earth and space — to suborbital space for about 11 minutes before landing back on Earth. During the mission, the crew will experience the weightlessness of space while also getting an excellent view of the Earth. How to watch the NS-32 launch The launch will be webcast on Blue Origin's website with coverage starting 30 minutes before the launch, so 9 a.m. ET. If this launch coverage is the same as previous ones, the webcast will cover the launch itself, the entire flight, and the landing. Prior launches also included interviews with the crew to get their initial thoughts on going to space, which we expect will be included with the NS-32 webcast. The company posts all of its previous NS missions on its YouTube channel, typically within the same day as the launch. The New Shepard capsule is pressurized and climate controlled with window seats for all passengers Blue Origin What rocket is NS-32 using? NS-32 will be using the New Shepard rocket, like every other NS mission. This rocket is known for being fully reusable, with a small capsule at the top with room for all six passengers. Blue Origin says the vehicle is fully autonomous. It will launch, fly, and eventually land with no pilots, which is why none of the NS missions feature a human pilot. The rocket saw its first crewed launch in 2021 when Jeff Bezos famously took part in the flight. The crew includes a mixture of entrepreneurs and educators. Blue Origins Who is the NS-32 crew? Typically, Blue Origin crews have featured people from all walks of life, including teachers, business people, and celebrities. The NS-32 crew is no different, although it lacks the celebrity flair of the prior NS-31 mission. The crew includes: Paul Jeris Jeris is a real estate developer and entrepreneur. He has visited 149 countries and is looking to add space to his list of places visited. Jesse Williams Williams is a Canadian entrepreneur and the current CEO of Car History Group. He has climbed six of the seven highest peaks on Earth. Aymette (Amy) Medina Jorge Jorge is a high school and middle school teacher focusing on STEM subjects. She's the 2023 AIAA and Challenger Center Trailblazing STEM Educator Award winner. Dr. Gretchen Green Green is a radiologist specializing in women's imaging and has over 20 years of experience. Among her many accolades, she now serves on the US Space & Rocket Center Education Foundation Board. Jaime Alemán Alemán is a Panamanian attorney and businessman who also served as ambassador to the US. He also serves on the Special Olympics International's Board of Directors, Duke Law School's Board of Visitors, and the Woodrow Wilson's Latin America Board. Jaime will also be the first person ever to visit all 193 UN-recognized countries, the North and South Poles, and space. Mark Rocket The aptly named Rocket is an entrepreneur from New Zealand. He serves as CEO of Kea Aerospace and as the President of Aerospace New Zealand, furthering the country's interests in aerospace.

Blue Origin's 12th human spaceflight mission will launch this weekend, if all goes according to plan. Blue Origin, which was founded by Amazon's Jeff Bezos, announced on Tuesday (May 27) that it's targeting Saturday (May 31) for its next crewed suborbital flight. That mission — called NS-32, because it will be the 32nd overall mission of the reusable New Shepard vehicle — will lift off from Blue Origin's West Texas site during a window that opens at 9:30 a.m. EDT (1330 GMT; 8:30 a.m. local Texas time). Blue Origin will stream the action live, beginning 30 minutes before liftoff. NS-32 will carry six people to suborbital space and back, on a flight that will last a total of 10 to 12 minutes. Those passengers are Panamanian businessman and attorney Jaime Alemán, who served as that nation's ambassador to the United States; radiologist, life coach and explorer Gretchen Green; entrepreneur and real estate developer Paul Jeris; award-winning middle school and high school teacher Aymette Medina Jorge; the aptly named Mark Rocket, an entrepreneur from New Zealand; and Canadian entrepreneur, adventurer and mountaineer Jesse Williams. For Date Night in Portofino, Lauren Sánchez Opts for Roberto Cavalli
Lauren Sánchez and Jeff Bezos have been making the most of their pre-nuptials partydom, with a tour of Europe, its glitziest events, and most romantic destinations. Things kicked off with Sánchez's Paris-set bachelorette party, where she was joined by the likes of Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Katy Perry, and Eva Longoria. With a boat party on the Seine, luxe shopping stop-offs, and cocktails on the rooftop of the Cheval Blanc hotel, the dress code erred less tiaras and novelty bachelorette shirts and more clingy gowns, sheer skirts, and corsets. Then Sánchez kept the party going by heading down to Cannes Film Festival with Longoria, attending the Global Gift Gala where Longoria presented Sánchez with the Women Empowerment Award. Both Sánchez and Longoria slipped into the expected glamorous gowns, with Sánchez in a glittering, black and sweetheart-necklined Dolce & Gabbana number. Next, she reunited with husband-to-be Jeff Bezos for the annual amfAR Gala, wearing a mermaid-esque, sequinned Roberto Cavalli strapless gown straight from the Lauren Sánchez school of style. And a short PJ or yacht ride brought both Sánchez and Bezos to Monaco over the weekend for the 2025 Grand Prix; the glam looks made it to the pit lane, too. Photo: KCS Presse / MEGA Now, they've swapped the French Riviera for the beloved Italian fishing village of Portofino. Sánchez and Bezos were photographed yesterday evening (May 28) stepping out for dinner at Ristorante Puny, accompanied by her son Nikko Gonzalez. Settled on the storied piazzetta, the elegant restaurant is known for its regional specialties like its basil pesto, prawn pappardelle, and fish baked in salt crust—often, enjoyed by celebrities straight from their yachts and locals alike. She opted for an Italy-appropriate dress: A pink, burnt orange, and gold animal print Roberto Cavalli slip dress with a plunging neckline and flowing skirt. She paired it with a pair of gold open-toed sandals. and a matching box clutch bag, a denim jacket slung more casually over her shoulder. She wore her dark brown hair in her usual long, blown-out style. Bezos, meanwhile, kept it casual in a pink, open-necked polo shirt, blue trousers, and black and white sneakers. After dinner, they returned to their yacht parked in the harbour. Sánchez's holiday wardrobe has consisted of Oscar de la Renta gowns, tight corsetry, and super-feminine silhouettes. While she has a few weeks left to enjoy yacht life, what we continue to see is probably a good indicator of what her bridal gown will look like.
