‘Lord of the Rings' Star Wants to Quit Acting
Lord of the Rings star Cate Blanchett is ready for a career change. In an interview with the Radio Times, the actress expressed being ready to move on from Hollywood.
"My family roll their eyes every time I say it, but I mean it. I am serious about giving up acting. (There are) a lot of things I want to do with my life," Blanchett, 55, told the outlet. "When you go on a talk show, or even here now, and then you see soundbites of things you've said, pulled out and italicized, they sound really loud. I'm not that person."
Blanchett also said that she's never felt quite right as the center of attention.
'I make more sense in motion – it's been a long time to remotely get comfortable with the idea of being photographed," she told the Radio Times. 'I've always felt like I'm on the periphery of things, so I'm always surprised when I belong anywhere. I go with curiosity into whatever environment that I'm in, not expecting to be accepted or welcomed."
The two-time Oscar winner finished filmed Father, Mother, Sister, Brother co-starring Adam Driver and has one other project in the works, according to IMDb. However, based on her recent comments about leaving Hollywood, it seems as though these may be the last projects she takes on.
If Blanchett decides to retire — for lack of a better word — her last film may be Alpha Gang, co-starring Channing Tatum, Dave Bautista and Riley Keough.
