At least 4 killed as Colombia hit with wave of bombings and gun attacks
It was not immediately clear who was behind the attacks, but guerillas who broke away from the once-powerful Farc rebel army are known to operate in that part of Colombia.
The attacks hit Cali – the country's third largest city – and several nearby towns, targeting police stations and other municipal buildings.
The National Police chief, Carlos Fernando Triana, told La FM radio that assailants had attacked targets with car bombs, motorcycle bombs, rifle fire and a suspected drone.
'There are two police officers dead, and a number of members of the public are also dead,' he said.
Police later said at least two civilians were among those killed, and 12 others were injured.

Authorities have arrested six suspects linked to the attack, including the alleged shooter, who was captured at the scene by Uribe's bodyguards. Police have also pointed to a dissident wing of the defunct FARC guerrilla group as being behind the assassination. Democracy is not built with bullets or blood, it is built with respect, with dialogue." Uribe had fiercely criticized Petro's strategy of "total peace," based on engaging all Colombia's remaining armed groups, including drug traffickers, in dialogue. He announced in October that he would seek to succeed the term-limited Petro in the May 2026 presidential election. Uribe was elected to Bogota's city council at age 26, later becoming its youngest-ever chairperson and then the mayor's right-hand man. In 2019, he unsuccessfully ran for mayor of Bogota, but three years later, he was elected a senator – receiving the most votes of any candidate in the country. In recent months, Petro, a former left-wing guerrilla, has been accused of dialing up the political temperature by labelling his right-wing opponents "Nazis." 13 killed in Myanmar junta strike on rebel-occupied ruby mine
A Myanmar junta air strike on a rebel-occupied ruby mining hub killed 13 people on Saturday, according to a resident and a spokesperson for an armed opposition group. Civil war has consumed Myanmar since the military seized power in a 2021 coup, sparking resistance from pro-democracy guerillas who found common cause with long-active ethnic armed groups. Their scattered forces initially struggled to make headway, but a combined offensive starting in late 2023 seized swathes of territory, including the town of Mogok – the centre of the ruby trade. Myanmar is rich in precious stones and rare earth elements coveted by all factions and sold, mostly to neighbouring China, to boost war chests. A junta spokesperson could not be reached for comment. However, a local who declined to be named for security reasons said the strike took place around 8.15am, killing seven instantly, with six dying later of their wounds. He said among the dead were a Buddhist monk collecting alms and a father and son who were riding the same motorbike.
