M&S has called it a thigh guy summer - the best short shorts for men
The UK has been baking in recent weeks with temperatures soaring above 30 degrees, and seeing much of the same this week.
While we don't mean to complain about sweating from areas we never knew was possible, we have had a much-needed change in wardrobe, and not just women, but men too.
Marks and Spencer shared a survey with us that showed 66% of men are leaning into the short shorts trend this summer, with a staggering 76% feeling more body confident than ever before. Even Google searches has seen 'men's short shorts' reach highs of 138%. This has lead 46% of men to purchase short shorts for the summer – M&S has coined the rising hemlines trend as the 'thigh guy summer'.
There is nothing more uncomfortable than long length jeans, or low hemlines that irritate you on a balmy summer day or feel even more restricting on a day with absolutely no breeze to cool you down.
The return of short shorts is not simply relegated to gymwear or swimwear, but everyday shorts too including tailored designs and linen shorts with a five-inch hemline.

We tried every item from Lidl's bakery — 39p item with 'no faults' was the best
Greggs might have the monopoly on sausage rolls in the UK, but when it comes to cheese twists, brownies and pizza slices, there's another place people head to. Lidl's in store bakeries are the unlikely favourite of many Brits, who can't get enough of the low prices and large array of pastries, cakes and savoury items. Don't believe me? The retailer has been crowned the UK's favourite supermarket bakery for two years running and they sell 122 All Butter Croissants every single minute. The permanent selection of baked goods includes 41 different items, and they regularly add limited-edition treats to the range. But which items are actually worth buying? Metro decided to find out by trying every item from Lidl's bakery – and we've ranked them all. Below are our completely honest reviews, from the best of the bunch, to the ones we wouldn't buy again. We scored each item out of five and have grouped all the ones with the same scores together, going from highest to lowest score, but in no particular order. You can't go wrong with Lidl's chocolate doughnut. It's a perfect afternoon sweet treat and not overly-indulgent. It's an underrated classic and far better than the supermarket's other doughnut options (looking at you Pink Iced Ring Doughnut). I honestly can't fault it. Either way, here's a look at our top picks to keep an eye out for in case they ever do make another appearance. A good doughnut needs no ceremony. This one had sugar, fat, and the courage to be both milk and white chocolate. The white chocolate was soft and the milk chocolate was delicious. I bit in and god help me, it was good. Score: 4.5/5 Reviewed by Thomas Rawe, Metro account manager Lidl's Birthday Cake Bun combines all the best elements of a doughnut (pink icing and sprinkles) with a scroll-like bun (jam-filled and soft in the middle). Sure, it's sweet – but who really wants a birthday cake that's not? The only thing that could improve this would be for the softness to extend throughout the whole bun. Supremely satisfying. B&M shoppers 'run' to stores for viral £35 'gorgeous' mirror
B&M shoppers have been searching stores for the "gorgeous" mirror that's gone viral on TikTok B&M shoppers are heaping praise on a "gorgeous" floor length mirror that's left them impressed. The budget retailer is well known for stocking on-trend and affordable homeware - and a new favourite may have hit the shelves. B&M is stocking the Full Length Mirror with Stand, priced at £35. It comes in black or gold and has proven hugely popular online. TikTok user @sadaaloves shared a clip of the mirror, alongside the caption: "£35 obsessed guys it's a NEED!!!!" The video racked up more than 5,000 views, and a number of likes and comments. Among them, one person said: "I'm hunting for this but my local doesn't have it." A second wrote: "I can't find it anywhere" and a third added: "I CAN'T FIND IT." A different person said: "RUN." Another wrote: "Literally going to a different one today! NEED this for my new flat." Another TikTok user, @sammibrooksx, also shared a clip of the mirror. The caption read: "Run, don't walk to B&M. I'm obsessed!!!" The video racked up 196.8k views, more than 9,000 likes and many comments from excited shoppers. One person wrote: "Love it" and a second said: "Been to literally 10 B&Ms not one sold this - so annoying." A third added: "How nice is that and the price is insaneee." A fourth shopper said: "Such a bargain!!"A fifth wrote: "I got mine in gold and I'm obsessed." The praise continued, with one shopper writing: "Oh wow! It looks gorgeous!" and another saying: "Looks gorgeous, will have to get one." One shopper dubbed it the "best mirror ever." Netflix reveals major TV return for unrecognisable Peaky Blinders legend
When Cillian Murphy and Netflix combine, it's usually a match made in heaven. The Oppenheimer star has been a firm favourite with audiences since he first depicted Tommy Shelby in Steven Knight's Peaky Blinders back in 2013. But now, the streaming service has released the first-look images at the 49-year-old Irish actor as a headmaster at a last-chance reform school. The reinterpretation of Max Porter's Sunday Times bestseller, Shy, is set in the mid-90s and chronicles a pivotal day in the life of Steve (Murphy) and his pupils. The trailer also shows Shy (Jay Lycurgo), a troubled teenager, who wrestles with his impulse for self-destruction and violence.
