A cryptic final post shared on social media by missing teenager Phoebe Bishop has deepened the mystery surrounding her disappearance.
The 17-year-old was last seen on the morning of May 15, when her housemates, Tanika Bromley and her partner James Wood, reportedly drove her to Bundaberg Airport in Queensland, Australia. She was supposed to catch a flight to Brisbane, and then to Perth, to see her boyfriend after saving up for months to pay for a ticket to visit him. But she never boarded her flight, and her disappearance nearly two weeks ago has since taken a disturbing turn.
Phoebe's mother, Kylie Johnson, says the vanishing is completely out of character for her daughter. 'Each day it's getting harder to breathe,' she said. 'We would do anything just to hear your voice, to have you curl up in my lap and hold you tight.'
In a final TikTok post two days before she disappeared, Phoebe participated in the "coffee with my younger self" trend, which is usually reflective and heartwarming. But her version was troubling.
'She sat down after giving every person in the café a dirty look … I walked in greeting everyone with a smile and being greeted by one. She didn't speak, she could barley [sic] look me in the eyes. Her responses were short and so was her temper.
"I asked, 'Are you okay?' and she replied, 'Like you care.' I said, 'I am you,' and she stopped and stared. She started to bawl, as she quickly jumped across the table into my arms.' She ended the post saying she was focused on 'finding herself.'
Earlier posts paint a similar picture of emotional distress. In March, Phoebe wrote, 'I'm not built for this town, these aren't my people.' In another, she said she was 'losing sleep and losing peace of mind.'
The cryptic messages are now central to the investigation, as police search for clues about her mental state and possible plans leading up to her disappearance.
Despite being dropped off near the airport terminal, Phoebe never checked in and was bizarrely not captured by any security cameras. Since May 15, there have been no transactions on her bank accounts, no phone activity, and no social media usage.
Authorities have expanded the search to the Good Night Scrub National Park, using helicopters, police dogs, and ground crews to scour bushland and waterways. Detective Acting Inspector Ryan Thompson stated, 'People don't vanish. Someone knows something. We're urging anyone with information to contact police immediately.'
When officers visited the house in Gin Gin, where Phoebe had been living, they encountered a disturbing scene: four dead dogs and piles of rubbish throughout the property. The home has since been declared a crime scene, along with the grey Hyundai ix35 believed to have transported Phoebe to the airport.
In a further twist, housemate Tanika Bromley was found to be facing unrelated weapons charges, including possession of a sawn-off shotgun and a flick knife in public. Police have stressed that no charges have been laid in connection with Phoebe's disappearance, and there is no suggestion at this stage that her housemates were involved.
Authorities are now appealing for dashcam and CCTV footage that may show the Hyundai ix35's movements that day. They are also asking residents and travellers in the area to report any sightings, no matter how minor.
Detective Thompson reiterated, 'We're still piecing together her movements on that day. Phoebe is a lovely, relatable young woman, and we are doing everything we can to bring her home. We never give up hope.'

The thief claimed she now has only a few hundred pounds left in her bank account. Liverpool Crown Court heard on Friday afternoon, Greenall began working for St Helens-based New Reg Ltd, a technology firm which specialises in purchasing vehicles for clients, in a lesser role in April 2021. The mum, of the town's Gloucester Street, was promoted in December 2022, giving her access to business bank accounts. Prosecutor Christopher Taylor was considered "vital" to the growing firm and described as "both trusted and respected" before it was found she was siphoning off the funds into her own accounts. Analysis of Greenall's bank statements showed during 2023 she received 53 unauthorised deposits totalling £57,036 from her employer. During this period, she also began increasing her spending at supermarkets, as well as other food outlets, sports retailers and Amazon Prime. The court heard she also used the funds to pay for a family solicitor. Her spree ramped up in the early months of the following year, boosting her bank balance by another £196,364.26 by April 2024. Such large sums going missing raised suspicions amongst Greenall's superiors and were put to the defendant in a meeting with the company director on May 1. She pledged to investigate before making a "final deposit" of £20,000 immediately after and then left the office claiming there was an illness in her family. Greenall would later admit criminality during a meeting six days later and she was arrested on May 13. She told detectives she had been "living a lavish lifestyle" and had only £700 in her bank account. The mum said initially she'd been using the stolen money to pay for household purchases before she began funding her TikTok "obsession". Tokens on the platform can be bought with real money and exchanged for virtual gifts that users can send to creators during live streams, which can then be exchanged back to real cash. Greenall said the crime spree came "at a time when she was low", the court heard. Overall, she pinched £443,523.26 out of the company over 121 separate transactions, and spent £301,162.55 on TikTok tokens. Her actions jeopardised the future of the firm and placed over 30 former colleagues at risk of redundancy. Paul Becker, defending, told the court that his client "may have been suffering from a form of addiction to TikTok", but stated that she had "no formal diagnosis to such an addiction". Greenall's two children, an 11-year-old boy with severe ADHD, and a six-year-old girl, are anticipated to be looked after by their mum's sister. Pheobe Bishop's mum 'ripped apart' as body found in search of missing teen
On Friday, a body was discovered close to the Good Night Scrub National Park, near Gin Gin, in Queensland. Pheobe Bishop 's mum has told how she has been "ripped apart" after police discovered a body in search of the missing teen. The 17-year-old vanished after failing to check in for her flight at Bundaberg Regional Airport in Queensland on the morning of May 15. The search for the teenager gripped the nation and earlier this week, her flatmates James and Tanika Bromley were arrested and charged with one count of murder and two counts each of interfering with a corpse. On Friday, a body was discovered close to the Good Night Scrub National Park, near Gin Gin, in Queensland. State police said: "The remains are yet to be formally identified; however, investigators are in contact with the family of missing 17-year-old Pheobe Bishop." The teenager's heartbroken mum, Kylie Johynson, wrote on Facebook: 'I didn't think my heart could break anymore then it did when you went missing, or when the charges where laid but this! This is ripping me apart…' The update from police on the discovery of the body also stated: 'The brief search commenced after further enquires and investigations today, with the discovery being made by specialist units around 2.30pm. "The remains are yet to be formally identified; however, investigators are in contact with the family of missing 17-year-old Pheobe Bishop. A crime scene has been declared at the location and forensic examinations are continuing.' And it also made an appeal to the public over a car. 'Police continue to appeal for any information in relation to Pheobe Bishop or the movement of a grey Hyundai IX35 between May 15 to 18 in the greater Gin Gin area. Investigations continue,' it stated. Detectives believe that Pheobe was in a car with her housemates when it arrived close to Bundaberg Airport on May 15 but that she never boarded a flight to Western Australia to reunite with her boyfriend. Pheobe's mum earlier today wrote on social media that a candlelit vigil would be held for her daughter on Sunday, June 8. She said: "This is for our amazing community!
