Wimbledon 2025: Madison Keys becomes latest top-seed to exit, Naomi Osaka bows out
Australian Open champion Madison Keys joined the mass exodus of top seeds at
Wimbledon
on Friday as Carlos Alcaraz prepared to resume his quest for a third straight title.
Keys' 6-3, 6-3 defeat by Germany's Laura Siegemund means only world number one Aryna Sabalenka is still alive at the All England Club out of the top six women's seeds.
Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula, Jasmine Paolini and Zheng Qinwen had already fallen by the wayside.
On the men's side, half of the top-10 seeds have gone, though defending champion Alcaraz and world number one Jannik Sinner are still standing.
US sixth seed Keys had won 13 of her 14 Grand Slam matches this year, but made 31 unforced errors in a lacklustre display on the grass against 37-year-old Siegemund, ranked 104 in the world.
Sabalenka will be desperate to buck the trend later on Centre Court when she faces a potential tricky encounter against former US Open champion Emma Raducanu in the third round.

In early third-round action at the All England Club, Japan's four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka lost in three sets to Russia's Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, ranked 50th in the world. Osaka has not reached the fourth round of a Grand Slam since she won the Australian Open in 2021 but is still hungry for success.

"I feel like while I still have the opportunity to try to do it, I want to, even though I get very upset when I lose, but I think that's my competitive nature. That's also the younger sister syndrome," she said.
It took US men's 10th seed Ben Shelton just 71 seconds to complete his second-round match, sealing a 6-2, 7-5, 6-4 win against Australia's Rinky Hijikata after the match was halted on Thursday due to failing light.

Anthony Stolarz returns to ice: Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender gearing up for a stronger comeback
Anthony Stolarz returns to ice: Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender gearing up for a stronger comeback (Image Via Twitter) The offseason of 2023-2024 brought a welcome development for fans, with front-office president Brendan Shanahan announcing that goaltender Anthony Stolarz had resumed on-ice training. Having suffered a serious concussion that kept him out of play through the playoffs, his appearance in full gear alongside his former goalie coach is an encouraging sign for the team. His absence was felt, particularly during the nail-biting final Game 7 moments, but it is reassuring that he is back in practice and able to be part of the conversation going into next season about a goaltending plan. Stolarz is in the process of working his way back onto the ice to backstop with Joseph Woll, having signed a two-year deal. Anthony Stolarz shows signs of full recovery ahead of the new NHL season — Leafslatest (@Leafslatest) Anthony Stolarz, now having averted the playoffs due to a concussion, has been spotted working out in full goaltending gear under the watchful eye of offseason goaltending coach George Bosak. This clip was shared via Bosak's Instagram account, giving Leafs fans their first glimpse of the goalie back on skates. It is a major step toward recovery, both physically and mentally, especially considering that the injury resulted from a collision with Florida Panthers forward Sam Bennett during a pivotal playoff series. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Искате да научите повече за новото BMW 2 Gran Coupe? BMW Научете повече Undo Stolarz has trained with Bosak in the past during the offseason, so the fact that he is returning once again suggests that his game recovery has a structured plan. Well, this dedication is justifiable because his rookie campaign with Toronto went beyond expectations. By producing a phenomenal .926 save percentage and a 21-8-3 winning record through 34 competitive games, Stolarz truly cemented his value as a reliable goaltender. Whispers of Vezina contention were in the air before his momentum was arrested mid-season due to the knee impairment that ensued. Those seven weeks out of action raised questions about his durability. Still, the guy's value remains strong, with good puck skills and decent calmness under pressure. With Joseph Woll anticipated to share duties again next season, Stolarz's presence lends a bit of air to the Leafs, though his ultimate long-term position is unclear. There may be an extension on Stolarz's contract in Toronto; however, a fine balance must be achieved concerning his performance and the associated risk of injuries. If moved forward, a raise should be on the table, but where to rightly place the term is tricky given that he's never seen full-time action. The stances of Stolarz in training and his health and consistency will probably be the deciding points. Also Read: Emily Karlsson, wife of William Karlsson, denies relocation rumors with renovation reveal Training in the offseason would help the Maple Leafs and their fans if Stolarz indeed were to come back. Nevertheless, even though there are doubts about his long-term reliability, the very fact that he recovered and is working hard means he's ready to step up once more. His presence could be one of the key factors in Toronto's goaltending plans underway. For real-time updates, scores, and highlights, follow our live coverage of the India vs England Test match here. IND vs ENG: 'We got India declaring before GTA 6' - Memes break internet after England asked to chase 608
India vs England 2nd Test. (Photo by) India's dominance in the second Test against England has not only left fans in awe but also lit up the internet with a fresh wave of memes. After Shubman Gill 's explosive 161 and key contributions from KL Rahul (55), Rishabh Pant (65), and Ravindra Jadeja (69 not out), India declared at a mammoth 427/6 in their second innings, setting England a target of 608 runs to win. While the on-field performance was nothing short of ruthless, social media had its own celebration. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! As soon as the declaration came, fans joked, 'We got India declaring before GTA 6,' referencing the much-anticipated video game whose release has been years in the making. The internet quickly turned the scoreboard into a meme-fest. Shubman Gill, who smashed 269 in the first innings, continued his dream run with a whirlwind 161 off 162 balls, including 13 fours and 8 towering sixes. His aggressive partnership with Pant, who scored 65 off just 58 deliveries, left the England bowlers demoralised. Later, Jadeja joined the carnage with a composed unbeaten 69, forging a 175-run stand with his captain to put the game well out of England's reach. Resuming Day 4 at 64/1, India lost Rahul and Karun Nair early but shifted gears swiftly. By the time the declaration came, India had not only stamped their authority but also entertained fans both on and off the field. With a record target looming and two days left, England now face the monumental task of surviving — or the even more unlikely one of chasing down 608. Either way, the internet is ready.
