Deputy Public Prosecutor Izzuddin Fakri Hamdan filed the arrest warrant application after the individual failed to appear for today's proceedings on two charges, namely under Section 57 and Section 58 of the Land Public Transport Act 2010.
Magistrate Naidatul Athirah Azman then set July 29 for mention of the arrest warrant.

‘Tan Sri' accused of sukuk fund embezzlement converted RM11m into digital currency, says MACC
PUTRAJAYA June 25 — The ongoing investigation into a 'Tan Sri' allegedly involved in the embezzlement of sukuk funds has revealed that millions were converted into digital currency, according to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said during a press conference that approximately RM11 million from the sukuk funds had been transferred into digital assets. 'The funds are believed to have been converted into digital currency for personal use. However, we are still tracing how the money was withdrawn and utilised. 'We suspect the money originated from the sukuk funds and was changed into digital currency. In fact, its use was not related to the MEX highway project. We also have documentation showing the currency exchange,' he said during the press conference at MACC headquarters today. Azam added that at least 10 more witnesses will be called to assist with the investigation. 'So far, statements have been recorded from 55 witnesses, and nine individuals have been arrested. A total of 14 personal accounts and eight company accounts have been frozen, involving RM156 million currently under investigation. 'We expect the investigation to be completed within the next two months, and any developments will be announced in due course,' he said. For now, Azam stated, there is no need to summon the individual with the 'Tan Sri' title again for questioning. When asked about the alleged use of the funds for gambling, Azam said the activity was believed to have occurred around the time the sukuk funds were disbursed. 'It may have been used in casinos, but I can't go into detail. I don't gamble myself, so I wouldn't know,' he said in jest. Previously, a prominent individual with the title 'Tan Sri' was among several people investigated by MACC over the alleged misappropriation of sukuk funds allocated for the MEX II highway construction project. MACC has reportedly seized a wide range of luxury assets estimated to be worth RM32 million, believed to belong to the highway concessionaire. The items include designer handbags, jewellery, high-end vehicles, luxury watches, cash, and a lavish residence. The investigation also uncovered premium alcoholic beverages valued at RM3 million and suggested that approximately RM20 million of the sukuk funds may have been spent on gambling activities. In addition to the domestic assets worth RM141 million already seized, MACC is currently tracing RM15 million worth of assets abroad linked to the case. The seized items include RM4.5 million in personal bank accounts, RM33 million in company accounts, luxury condominiums and land worth RM24.5 million, RM26 million in luxury watches, nine luxury cars valued at RM7.65 million, and jewellery and diamonds worth RM10 million. Other seized assets include RM6 million in designer handbags, gold bars, statues and gold coins worth RM3 million, and four horses estimated to be worth RM400,000.

MACC moves to forfeit Ilham Tower, RM700m UK assets linked to Daim and proxies
KUALA LUMPUR, June 25 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has filed a forfeiture application for the Menara Ilham building linked to the late former finance minister, Tun Daim Zainuddin. MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the 60-storey building is among the latest assets subject to forfeiture proceedings involving Daim, his widow Toh Puan Na'imah Abdul Khalid and several of their local proxies. 'We will initiate the (forfeiture) process today, and I must say, it is not a simple task as there are many steps involved, and the documents (related to Menara Ilham) are extensive. 'In the next one to two weeks, more applications will be filed for properties linked to the individuals concerned,' he said at a press conference at the MACC headquarters here today. Azam also said the MACC has obtained a Restraining Order in Malaysia against assets belonging to Daim and related parties in the United Kingdom, estimated to be worth RM700 million. Following this, UK authorities have been notified and agreed to file a Restraining Order application in UK courts based on Malaysia's request. Earlier this month, the MACC once again seized Menara Ilham after securing permission from the Deputy Public Prosecutor to do so. On Monday, the High Court temporarily suspended an order to freeze seven properties, including three luxury residences in London, and one bank account, allegedly belonging to Na'imah and her family. Previously, the MACC had obtained an ex parte order to freeze the seven properties and one bank account, all of which are valued at £132 million (RM758.2 million), under Section 53 of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act (AMLATFPUAA) 2001. According to the MACC's application, investigations found that the movable and immovable assets were matters or evidence relating to alleged offences under Section 4(1) of the AMLATFPUAA 2001. — Bernama

Transport Ministry names and shames bus and logistics firms with most traffic summonses in crackdown
PUTRAJAYA, June 25 — The Ministry of Transport said today it would begin exposing the names of transport service providers with the highest traffic summonses, as part of a clampdown on offenders triggered by a series of deadly road accidents in the last few months. Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the list will be released from time to time as a stern warning to keep bus and logistics operators in line. The offences cited include speeding and reckless driving, failure to meet safety standards, and driving without a licence. The list is divided into two categories — express bus companies and logistics firms. 'This is a drastic measure we are taking after several deadly road crashes, and after the public asks us what we and the Road Transport Department plan to do to address the problem,' Loke told a press conference here. Topping the offenders list under the logistics category was KDEB Waste Management, the project management company hired by the Selangor government to collect waste. The ministry said KDEB has over 22,000 outstanding traffic summonses for various offences. Among commercial bus operators, Cepat Express Sdn Bhd, which services mostly southern and central eastern routes, had the most number of outstanding traffic summonses, at 540. MORE TO COME
