Georgia native Trisha Yearwood gets her own star on Hollywood Walk of Fame
A Georgia country music star received her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this week.
Trisha Yearwood, who grew up in Monticello, attended the unveiling ceremony in Los Angeles on Monday along with her husband Garth Brooks, fellow country music woman pioneer Reba McEntire and singer Carly Pearce.
CMT host Cody Alan was the master of ceremonies.

'The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is honored to welcome renowned country singer Trisha Yearwood to the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame,' producer Ana Martinez said. 'Her remarkable talent has touched the hearts of millions around the world.'
Yearwood said she drew inspiration from Patsy Cline and Linda Ronstadt growing up. She moved from Monticello to Nashville to pursue her music career and attend Belmont University.
She released her self-title debut album in 1991. 'She's in Love with the Boy' became the first debut single by a female artist to hit No. 1 on the charts.
Yearwood has since released 14 more studio albums and has sold over 15 million records.

The show follows underground boxing in Britain, and filming kicks off in London later this year. The eight-episode series follows a boxing champion who returns to London after doing time "to seek vengeance against the crime family he thinks betrayed him," according to an official synopsis. The series is produced through 50 Cent's G-Unit Film & Television. "I anticipate this to be more successful than anything I've done before," he said in a press release. "Boxing's raw stakes are gonna take it to another level." 50 Cent's production company is behind Starz's Power franchise and For Life on ABC.

New tennis league in Atlanta ready to serve fans with unique format
Channel 2 Action News got an exclusive look at a brand new professional tennis league. Intennse features three teams based in Atlanta, Tampa and Jacksonville. The league says it wants to deliver a faster, more interactive fan-centric experience that will reshape how tennis played and watched. Advertisement 'Atlanta is the launch place for Intennse because Atlanta is the tennis capital of the world,' CEO Charles Allen told Channel 2's Alison Mastrangelo. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] As soon as you walk into the Intennse Arena, you will notice the cool lighting and double-decker seating. It's not your typical arena for a typical tennis match. Intennse matches are played in three, 10-minute intervals called bolts. 'It's non-stop action. We've changed the format. Of course you play the point, it's the same point, same ball, same net, same court. But everything around it is different,' Allen said. 'It's a team sport, you have live coaching, you have substitutions, live substitutions.' Advertisement That's right: You can make substitutions during a tennis match. 'If someone's just getting a little bit tired, or if someone has a lot a momentum, you can put them in. Once they get tired, take them out for just a little then bring the other guy,' former University of Georgia tennis player Trent Bryde said. The league features three teams with six players: three men and three women. Intennse recruit played from all over the country, like Michaela Gordon who played tennis at Stanford University. 'The pace of play is a lot faster than traditional tennis. So you have 14 seconds in between points, you have one serve, and it's completely at the server's pace. So the server doesn't have to wait for you as the returner to be ready,' Gordon said. Advertisement Bryde says the league allows him to still play the game he loves just in a new, fun format. 'It's just having the team involved and then spectators involved in the actual match, right? Just by heckling, screaming. There's no rules, nothing really applies, right. It just makes it like more fun, entertaining for everyone,' he said. Matches start the weekend of June 20-22 and the season runs through August. Menendez Brothers Receive Stars On Hollywood Walk Of Fame
LOS ANGELES—In recognition of their outstanding contributions to the true crime genre, convicted killers Lyle and Erik Menendez were honored this week with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. 'The Menendez brothers have truly set the standard for aspiring murderers everywhere,' Monsters showrunner Ryan Murphy said in a speech noting that the duo's local Beverly Hills roots were part of what made the occasion so special and that many look upon the siblings, who are currently serving life sentences for first-degree murder, as hometown heroes. 'It has been an extraordinary privilege getting to work with Erik and Lyle and learn about the immersive process they undertook to gun down their parents. The Menendez brothers are true multihyphenate talents, and I am particularly honored to be associated in some small way with the Walk of Fame stars who did so much for this city and the entertainment industry.' The honor from Hollywood follows the brothers' recent induction into the NBA Hall of Fame for appearing courtside in the background of Knicks guard Mark Jackson's 1990–91 basketball card.
