The members of the all-party delegations comprised MPs and former diplomats, who travelled to 33 world capitals over the past few weeks. Four delegations were led by MPs of the ruling alliance, including two from the BJP, one from JD(U) and one from Shiv Sena, while three were led by opposition MPs, one each of the Congress, DMK and NCP(SP).
At the reception, Modi said he was proud of the manner in which the multi-party delegations presented India's views in various countries on the need to eradicate the menace of terrorism following the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor.
'Met members of the various delegations who represented India in different countries and elaborated on India's commitment to peace and the need to eradicate the menace of terrorism. We are all proud of the manner in which they put forward India's voice," he wrote on X.
Members shared their experience with him, with the central government having already praised the work of the seven delegations comprising over 50 persons, mostly current MPs.
'Thank you Hon'ble Prime Minister ji @narendramodi for entrusting us with this important responsibility to articulate India's firm stance against terrorism and our unwavering commitment to the unity and integrity of the nation," Sule, who led her team to Qatar, South Africa, Ethiopia, and Egypt, wrote on X.
Sule, JD(U) MP Sanjay Jha and Shive Sena MP Shrikant Shinde were among those who had led their delegations to different parts of the world. 'Had the great honour to meet Hon PM Shri @narendramodi Ji and put across details of our visits to different countries with the message of zero tolerance against terror and Operation Sindoor. 'Today, there was an informal meeting of all delegation members with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the discussion, the Prime Minister interacted with everyone… All the people shared their experiences. The experiences of how each country reacted towards India were shared. Everyone emphasised one point that if such bilateral meetings continue, it will benefit India, and our relations with other countries will strengthen," Shinde, who had led the delegation to the UAE, Congo, Sierra Leone, and Liberia, told news agency ANI.
After meeting, SP MP Rajeev Rai said: 'It was a very casual interaction with the PM. I had prepared a report, which I presented to him. He appreciated it. Every country we visited condemned the incident (Pahalgam terror attack) and promised to support India in the fight against terrorism."
Congress leader Manish Tewari said members of the various all-party teams shared their impressions with Modi during the informal meeting. '…He (PM) conveyed his own impressions. On the whole, it was an informal and freewheeling conversation. Most importantly, everybody was able to share the inputs they had collected across various nations. It was a holistic and comprehensive conversation," he said.
'It was a proud moment to advocate for a strong India under the leadership of Honorable Prime Minister Modi Ji. Today, by informally meeting all of us, Prime Minister Ji made us feel that he had a keen eye on every delegation," BJP MP Nishikant Dubey wrote on X.
The Centre had sent the multi-party delegations to portray a message of national unity in the fight against terrorism, with the likes of Tharoor and AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi joining the ruling alliance members in championing the Indian cause abroad. Prominent former parliamentarians in the delegations included ex-Union ministers Ghulam Nabi Azad and Salman Khurshid.

Congress's Revanth Reddy has praise for this old RSS hand: Who is ‘Ajatashatru' Bandaru Dattatreya
At an event held last Sunday in Hyderabad to launch Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya's autobiography, 'Prajala kathe, naa atma katha' (The story of people is my life story), Telangana Chief Minister and Congress leader A Revanth Reddy called Dattatreya an 'Ajatashatru' (one who has no enemies), saying he has been a leader who commands bipartisan respect much like former Prime Minister late Atal Bihar Vajpayee did. Similar sentiments were expressed on the occasion by several dignitaries and leaders cutting across party lines, including ex-President Ram Nath Kovind, former Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu and Andhra Pradesh CM and TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu, with Kovind describing Dattatreya as a 'rare leader' who has been a 'friend to all'. The 77-year-old Other Backward Class (OBC) leader, Dattatreya, who hails from Hyderabad, started his public life in 1965 when he joined the RSS, the BJP's ideological fountainhead. He was appointed as an RSS pracharak in 1968. He continued to hold various positions within the Sangh and its affiliated outfits till 1979, when he was Seva Bharati's pramukh, before joining the BJP. 'Dattatreya had been one of the BJP leaders since its inception. In 1980, he was posted as the BJP secretary in undivided Andhra Pradesh,' one of his close aides told The Indian Express. In Hyderabad, Dattatreya was known as a BJP leader who used to attend even the smallest of public functions. 'It was not easy to work as a BJP leader then and get the support of people who belonged to various parties back in the 1980s. He undertook this connect with people like a personal mission and succeeded in it to the surprise of many,' a Congress leader said. Dattatreya held different positions in the Andhra Pradesh BJP, including its general secretary from 1981 to 1989. In 1991, he was elected to the Lok Sabha for the first time from the Secunderabad constituency (in Telangana now). He was re-elected to the Lok Sabha four times from Secunderabad from 1991 to 2014, even though he also suffered losses a few times. 'It was not easy to win over such a long period in Secunderabad as a BJP candidate then. It showed the public trust he enjoyed over the years,' Dattatreya's aide said. The BJP first named Dattatreya as the Andhra Pradesh party unit president in 1996. He again served as the state party chief from 2006 to 2009. Besides, he also played various roles in the party at the central level – from being the party's national secretary to its national executive member and national vice president. He also served as the Union minister of state (MoS) in the governments led by both Vajpayee and Narendra Modi. In the Modi ministry 1.0, he was the MoS (independent charge) of labour and employment from November 2014 to September 2017. During this period he worked closely with various labour unions in the country for the welfare and uplift of workers in both organised and unorganised sectors, his aide said. In his autobiography, Dattatreya states, 'One of the significant strides made during my tenure (as MoS, labour) in 2015 was the substantial increase in minimum wages across both agricultural and non-agricultural sectors.' In 2014, he also served as the chairperson of the parliamentary committee on welfare of the backward classes. A political observer close to Dattatreya told The Indian Express that his elevation in the BJP ranks could be attributed to his proximity to the RSS. 'His rise in the BJP was completely driven by his deep-rooted connection to the RSS. Without the RSS' backing Dattatreya would not have made it to the Union MoS's position'. In his long political innings, Dattatreya has however also faced several controversies. He was booked as one of the prime accused in a case of abetment of suicide of University of Hyderabad (UoH)'s PhD scholar Rohith Vemula. Months before Vemula's death by suicide in January 2016, Dattatreya was accused of having written a letter to then Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani to seek action against some UoH students including Vemula for their alleged 'casteist, extremist and anti-national' activities. Vemula, who identified as a Dalit, had written a suicide note in which he said, 'My birth is my fatal accident', which found resonance across the country as a searing indictment of the country's caste reality. The Hyderabad police however filed a closure report in the case in 2024, claiming that Vemula was not a Dalit and that 'external pressures' did not lead to his suicide. It gave a clean chit to Dattatreya and other accused. Vemula's suicide sparked nationwide protests against the discrimination of Dalit students in educational institutions. Dattatreya had denied any wrongdoing in the matter. 'The BJP did not remove him from his MoS position during this entire episode,' noted a student leader from the UoH. In the Modi government 2.0, Dattatreya was sent to Himachal Pradesh as the Governor. In 2021, he was named the Haryana Governor, a post that he still holds.

Long-range precision weapons make geographical barriers irrelevant
NEW DELHI: India's use of long range precision-guided munitions like the Scalp and BrahMos missiles launched from fighter jets to strike targets on the ground in Pakistan, without crossing the border during , show geographical barriers have become almost meaningless, chief of integrated defence staff Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit said on Wednesday. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The senior IAF officer, speaking at a seminar here, also underlined the critical role of real-time situational awareness and 'deep surveillance' in contemporary conflicts, while stressing that advances in technology have fundamentally altered the relationship between distance and vulnerability. 'When we look at global conflicts commencing from Armenia-Azerbaijan to Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Hamas and to our own experiences in Operation Sindoor, one truth emerges with crystal clarity: the side that sees first, sees farthest and sees most accurately, prevails,' Air Marshal Dixit said. The existing principles of war are being challenged, with new ones emerging rather rapidly. 'Earlier, the horizon marked the limit of immediate threat. Today, precision-guided munitions like the Scalp, BrahMos and Hammer have rendered geographical barriers almost meaningless, as strikes with beyond visual range air-to-air missiles and supersonic air-to-ground missiles have become commonplace,' he added. Referring to China's military space program expanding from operating just 36 satellites in 2010 to over 1,000 by 2024, with over 360 of them dedicated to ISR (Intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance) missions, Air Marshal Dixit said Beijing's creation of an independent aerospace force last year signals its recognition of space as the ultimate high ground in modern warfare. 'Yet, even as we acknowledge these challenges, we must also celebrate our own remarkable achievements. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Operation Sindoor demonstrated that indigenous innovation, when properly harnessed, can match and even exceed international benchmarks,' he said. Towards this end, he cited the success of the IAF's Integrated Air Command and Control System (IACCS), integrated with the Army's AkashTeer system, in compressing the sensor-to-shooter timelines and ensuring effective air defence during Operation Sindoor. 'Not a single Pakistani aircraft breached our airspace, while our precision strikes successfully degraded their air defence capabilities and aerial infrastructure,' he said. With weapons capable of striking targets hundreds of kilometers away with pinpoint accuracy, he said, 'This new reality demands that we extend our surveillance envelope far beyond what previous generations could have even imagined. 'We must detect, identify and track potential threats not when they approach our borders, but when they are still in their staging areas, airfields and bases, deep within an adversary's territory. This existed as a concept even earlier but today we have the means to realise it,' he added.

Donald Trump launches $5 million ‘gold card' website. Here's how to join the waitlist
US President Donald Trump has announced the opening of a 'wait list' for the 'gold card' which costs $5 million and is a direct route to legal immigration to the United States. On Wednesday, Trump launched a new website where people can register if they are interested in signing up for the much awaited 'gold card' which provides a path to permanent residency in the US. President Trump has earlier clarified that he isn't seeking a ratification from the Congress for the 'gold card' as he said that the card won't provide US citizenship to the buyer, rather it will only act as a path to citizenship. However, the path required for card buyers to obtain a US citizenship remains unclear and the White House officials have said that more information would be provided soon, USA Today reported. On Thursday, Trump in a post on Truth Social, said 'For $5 million, the Trump Card is coming. Thousands have been calling and asking how they can sign up to ride a beautiful road in gaining access to the Greatest Country and Market anywhere in the World.' The website launched by the US government shows a gold-coloured image of Trump card, which has the face of the Republican president along with some symbols of America like the Statue of Liberty, the US flag and the Great Seal (bald eagle). The new website asks a few questions like name, region, email address, and if an applicant is applying for themselves or as a business in order for the person to get notified as and when the access for the Trump Card opens. In the section of region, a person can select from the eight available options, namely Europe, Asia (including Middle East), North America, Oceania, Central America, South America, Caribbean and Africa. When President Trump first floated the idea of the Trump Card (Gold Card) in February, he had said that it would replace the existing 'EB-5' immigrant investor green card visa program.
