Nelly and Ashanti 'hated' each other before reunion

Perth Now3 days ago

Nelly and Ashanti "hated" each other before getting back together.
The couple had an on-off relationship for over a decade from 2003 and they went on to reconcile in 2023, having son Kareem, aka KK, 10 months, and secretly getting married, but they admitted they never expected to reunite.
In a trailer for their new reality show Nelly and Ashanti: We Belong Together, Ashanti, 44, said: "We were together off and on for 11 years, before the final..."
Nelly quipped: "I hated her."
His wife laughed: "I hated him. I didn't think that we would get back together."
Hot in Herre hitmaker Nelly then smiled as he said: "She got me y'all."
But Ashanti suggested she hadn't had to work hard to pursue the 50-year-old singer.
She said: "He wanted to get got."
The 44-year-old pop star previously admitted she was initially shocked that her feelings for Nelly had returned because she thought they had "gone" away after the end of their relationship the first time round.
She told E! News: "It was, 'I can't believe these feelings came back.
"That's what it was for me. When we first started talking and dating again it was like, 'Wait a minute, these feelings were gone. How did they creep back?"
Ashanti also admitted she and Nelly - who has Chanelle, 30, and Cornell, 25, with Channetta Valentine and then adopted his sister's children after she passed away -are keen to have more children.
She said: "I am feeling amazing, incredibly pleased, humbled.
"My life has completely changed for the better. I feel full, you know? My cup is full.
"We're going to add some more. Definitely a girl to balance it out. I'm outnumbered in the house right now. So, a girl would be great!"
Meanwhile, Nelly revealed he married the Foolish hitmaker in December 2023 because she was pregnant.
Speaking on The Bootleg Kev podcast, he said: "I was like, 'Yo, you know what? Let's just knock this [wedding] out because we're going to be doing so much and everything's moving so fast.'
"I didn't want her to be a baby mama, you know what I mean?
"Because we already knew where we were in life. If we're back like this, this must be what it's supposed to be."
Ashanti and Nelly did not confirm that they had married until June 2024, and just over a month later, she gave birth to their son.

Brad Pitt gives terms for reuniting with Tom Cruise on-screen

Brad Pitt is open to working with Tom Cruise again - as long as he doesn't have to do any big stunts. The 61-year-old actor hasn't appeared on-screen with the Mission: Impossible star, 62, since 1994's Interview with the Vampire, and Pitt has now revealed he would collaborate with Cruise again, on the condition that his feet stay firmly on the ground. Speaking with E! News, Pitt said: 'Well, I'm not gonna hang my a** off airplanes and s*** like that. 'So when he does something again that's on the ground [then yes].' Pitt will next be seen in F1 - the high-octane racing movie from Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski. In F1, Pitt plays Sonny Hayes, a retired racer who returns to the track with new blood Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris) in a bid to become the best Formula One driver in the world. While Pitt wants to avoid doing any major stunts in a Tom Cruise movie, the Once Upon A Time In Hollywood actor had driven at 180-miles-per-hour in real Formula One cars for F1. Speaking at a Q+A event in March, Kosinski said: '[Pitt] just had that natural feel for grip in the car, and what we're doing on this film is dangerous. So yeah, you have to be fearless, and when you see Brad driving, that's not acting. 'He's really concentrating on keeping that car on the track and out of the wall during all those scenes. So that's something that you just can't fake, I think. I hope the audience feels that when they watch the movie.' The filmmaker added Pitt had undergone 'months of training' to prepare for the racing scenes, which also involved learning the art of the sport under the tutelage of seven-time Formula One world champion Sir Lewis Hamilton. Kosinski explained: 'Brad and Damson are both driving in this film and in order to get them into these race cars, it required months, literally months of training. But the first day was really fun. 'It was me, Brad and Lewis Hamilton at the track together, all of us jumping in cars and driving each other around in sports cars, which was one of those things, I'll never forget having Lewis Hamilton as your driving instructor. 'But what we learned and what Lewis was really interested was seeing did Brad knew how to drive right? Because if Brad can't drive, this whole film wasn't going to work.' The director said Hamilton found Pitt to be a 'very talented, naturally gifted driver' when they first sped around the track together. Kosinski said: 'And what Lewis was very happy to discover was that Brad had a lot of just natural ability right from the start. 'And I don't know where he got that or if he was born with it, and he rides motorcycles, which I think has something to do with it, but he's just a very talented, naturally gifted driver, which for Lewis after that first meeting gave him a lot of confidence that we might have a shot at pulling this off.'

Kevin Jonas couldn't raise his daughters without the support of his wife

Kevin Jonas couldn't raise his daughters without the support of his wife. The 37-year-old pop star grew up with brothers, Joe, 35, and Nick, 32, and found fame with them as part of a pop trio in the late 2000s but admitted on Father's Day (15.06.25) that being father to girs Alena, 11, and eight-year-old Valentina with his wife Danielle is very much an "unknown territory" to him. He told E! News: "It's really special, but it's also unknown territory for me, which is why I sometimes respond and react to situations like it would have been with boys. Then my wife looks at me like, 'No, the exact opposite of what you're doing, we need to do that!' "I could not do it without her. She's the guiding light in our family." Along with his brothers, Nick made several appearances on the Disney Channel at the height of his fame and revealed that their movie Camp Rock - which also starred Demi Lovato and first aired on the network in 2008 - is a favourite of theirs, as is fellow musical franchise Zombies. "They love Camp Rock. "Camp Rock is huge. It's just not as big as Descendants or, especially now, Zombies. "Zombies is coming out with their new movie in June and I know this because I'm a huge girl dad, who's gonna bring them to the concert tour and do the whole thing." Nick then revealed that his daughters recently filmed an upcoming Christmas special with him and that his eldest seems set to follow in his footsteps, but insisted that he will never "push" her to do so. He said: "They're actually in the film, and they had a really good time. "My oldest daughter definitely started to do the thing. She started to see what it's like on set. She said to me, 'I really want to be an actress.' "She really enjoyed it, but I will never push them to do it.

Shaggy's songs came from 'higher power'

Shaggy believes his songs have been "bestowed" on him by God. The It Wasn't Me hitmaker insisted he isn't responsible for writing any of his hit tracks and he "honestly believes" the catchy tunes came to him as a way to help other people. He told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: "People say I wrote It Wasn't Me and my other hits but I didn't write any of them. They were bestowed on me from a higher power. "If it had come from me I would write one every week. I honestly believe these songs were given to me to help change peoples' lives. I'm just here to act as a service until I'm no longer needed." Shaggy - whose real name is Orville Burrell - is proud to be celebrating over 30 years in the music industry, particulary after he was written off as a one-hit wonder following the success of Oh Carolina in 1993. He said: "It has been quite a ride. "There's not many artists who get to have success over three decades of music. "I remember after Oh Carolina they called me the one hit wonder. "Then I did Boombastic and I was the two hit wonder and then Summertime and I was the three hit wonder. "At that point no one had seen a dancehall artist have follow-up hits. "I was the first to have multiple follow ups quickly after." The 56-year-old star previously credited taking breaks from music to do other things, such as The Little Mermaid Live! back in 2019, for his longevity because they have stopped him from "overstaying [his] welcome" in his chart career. He told E! News: "I've been lucky to have gone through this multiple times. I was lucky to go through that roller coaster ride of the fanning-out, the craziness. Everything for me is strategic. You go to your aunt's house and she's happy to see you. She's making your bed, she's cooking for you. You stay there for two weeks, [then] she's like, 'Alright, you're cooking for yourself, you need to take out the garbage.' You don't want to overstay your welcome. That's part of what's known as longevity, and this is why I'm here. "I'll take myself away from the scene, do some theatre. And then we'll come back in when the time is right. You just kind of know where you are, you look at the market—the market is always changing. The game is always changing. You always look at where your audience is."
