Tom Sandovall stung by Simon Cowell's feedback

Perth Now3 days ago
Tom Sandoval took Simon Cowell's criticism "to heart" on America's Got Talent.
The reality TV star and his band, Tom Sandoval and The Most Extras, appear on the 20th season of the talent show, and Tom has admitted to feeling stung by Simon's criticism of his performance of Take On Me by a-ha.
Tom told TODAY: "I could always be improving."
Tom's performance actually received glowing feedback from all of the other judges, except Simon.
The music mogul said at the time: "For me, the vocals weren't great, Tom. I'm going to be honest with you.
"However, not everyone comes on this show to get a record deal. Sometimes, it's about being true to who you are."
Despite this, Tom still loves singing Take On Me .
He explained: "I remember when we first performed that song a couple of years back, we had to do it a half step lower, but eventually, I got comfortable enough with it where we put it back into its original key.
"And to me, that song means a lot because it has history. I have an emotional connection to it, so being able to hit that high note was an example of overcoming a huge hurdle for me."
Tom is refusing to get carried away on the show, insisting he won't look too far ahead.
The TV star said: "We're just taking it one performance at a time.
"I mean, there's still a long way to go with so many incredibly talented acts going up there. So to me, like I said before, winning it seems so far off to me."
Tom previously acknowledged that he has a "slim" chance of winning America's Got Talent.
Asked what winning the TV talent show would mean to him, Tom told E! News: "That would be crazy.
"That would be so amazing. Obviously, there's such a slim chance because of so many great acts out there, but I would obviously be so happy for the band and for myself."
Tom also admitted to feeling particularly nervous about Simon's feedback.
Tom said: "He's a legend. I mean they all are, but he definitely has his reputation of being brutally honest."

Alan Cumming: The Traitors features utter carnage

Alan Cumming believes contestants on The Traitors need "balls of steel". The 60-year-old actor hosts the reality game show, and Alan has teased details of the upcoming season. Speaking to E! News about the new season, Alan explained: "About halfway through, there is a scene in it that is the greatest moment in Traitors history. Honestly, I just cannot wait for the world to see it. It's utter carnage and utter just mad. It's just brilliant." Asked what qualities next season's Traitors need if they want to defeat the Faithfuls, Alan replied: "Balls of steel, first of all. Audacity, boldness and you have to really go for it. But at the same time, don't be too chaotic. So, measured boldness I would say." The last season of the show featured the likes of Dolores Catania, star of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, and Zac Efron's brother Dylan Efron. The show is actually filmed a year in advance of it being aired, and Dolores struggled to not spoil the twists and turns. Speaking to E! News after the series three finale, Dolores explained: "Incredibly difficult, I have a huge mouth. But people who watch the show don't want any spoilers." Meanwhile, Alan previously admitted that he loves hosting the hit TV show. The actor observed that "everyone's really obsessed" with The Traitors. He told the Hollywood Reporter: "I really love doing it. I love the fact it's connected with everyone in this way. Everyone's really obsessed by it." Alan is fascinated by the "sociological" elements of the show, too. He shared: "We all lie, but we forget to see when people are lying or have to lie [to us]. It's a sociological thing. We're a secret camera, getting to watch people do stuff we never normally get to [see]." Alan also claimed that he has to lean on his acting background for his hosting role. He said: "I act my socks off in The Traitors, just like I did on The Good Wife, and it's this very juicy thing like I do in the theatre or would do at the Tonys."

Lisa Wilkinson and Peter FitzSimons list family's 122-year-old landmark home in Sydney's North for $23 million

Lisa Wilkinson and Peter FitzSimons have listed their long-time family home in Cremorne for $23 million. The pair have resided at the lower north shore home for almost 30 years after they purchased the landmark property in 1998 for $2.95 million. Wilkinson and FitzSimons upsized and moved into Ingleneuk with their three children – Billi, Jake and Louis – when they were five, three and one. The 122-year-old home is on the market for only its third time after being built in 1903. The six-bedroom estate sits on more than 3200 square metres of land and offers panoramic views of the harbour and city skyline. The property has since had two adjoining lots – previously subdivided off the estate decades earlier - return to its original proportions with dual street frontage. The four-bathroom house was renovated by heritage architect Clive Lucas, who restored details of the elegant home, original fence posts, fretwork and maid's bell, while extending and modernising the property. Inside, the listed $23 home includes a parents' retreat with sunroom and dressing room, gourmet kitchen, library, multiple gas and wood fireplaces, leadlight doors and ornate timber detailing. The Edwardian home has since retained its original features, including large windows, prominent eaves and handcrafted details in natural materials. You can find in the yard a heated pool and tennis court surrounded by well-crafted hedges designed by landscape architect Will Danger. The listing will include approved plans of a triple garage with studio accommodation and a garden room, designed by architectural firm Lucas Stapleton Johnson. From celebrities to sporting figures, Hugh Jackman, Nigella Lawson, Mike Cannon-Brookes, Tim Minchin, Simon Baker, Mark Taylor, Matt Shirvington, Mark Bosnich, Brett Lee, Cooper Cronk and Greg Alexander have visited the Cremorne estate. The couple's home is being sold through Monika Tu of Black Diamondz and Brad Pillinger of Pillinger. According to other media reports, the former Today show co-host and the former Wallaby-turned-author are ready to downsize after their three children moved out of home. In addition to the couple's property being on the market, Wilkinson has stayed out of the spotlight following her departure from co-hosting Channel 10's now axed The Project and fighting Bruce Lehrmann's failed defamation case. Meanwhile, FitzSimons regularly writes his column, The Fitz Files, for The Sydney Morning Herald.
