Man detained after crashing through Jennifer Aniston's front gate while she was home: police
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department told The Independent that its officers were called to Aniston's 10,000 square foot pad at 12:20 p.m. by reports of a burglary.
An adult white male had crashed his vehicle through the gates of the property before being hauled out of the car and detained by a private security guard, the spokesperson said.
Offers took the man into custody and are still investigating whether the crash was accidental or deliberate.
Local broadcaster KABC put the man's age at 70 years old, and said Aniston was at home during the incident.
Sources close to the news outlet said the man appeared to have a minor criminal history, but they had not yet found any signs he was targeting Aniston in particular.
According to reports, Aniston bought the midcentury modern Bel Air manor for $21 million in 2012.
Built in 1965 by the well-known architect A. Quincy Jones, it sits on a 3.4 acre lot atop a hill with sweeping ocean and city views, and at the time of purchase it had a guesthouse, swimming pool, and vineyards.
In 2015 Aniston, whose net worth was estimated to be around $200m by Forbes in 2017, married fellow actor Justin Theroux at the house, living there together for three years before divorcing in 2018.
The estate is just up the road from another house owned by superstar actress Meg Ryan, who listed it for sale in 2012.
Aniston, now 56, shot to fame in the 90s and early 2000s for her role as Rachel in the seminal NBC sitcom Friends, before starring in numerous Hollywood films including Bruce Almighty (2003), He's Just Not That Into You (2009), and Horrible Bosses (2011).

The trailer, released Wednesday, picks up two years after the events of the Season 3 finale, with the UBA-NBN merger complete. "The newsroom must grapple with newfound responsibility, hidden motives and the elusive nature of truth in a polarized America," an official synopsis reads. "In a world rife with deepfakes, conspiracy theories and corporate cover-ups -- who can you trust? And how can you know what's actually real?" Witherspoon and Aniston, who also serve as executive producers, lead an ensemble cast that also includes returning stars Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Greta Lee, Nicole Beharie and Jon Hamm. Passengers stuck on a delayed flight to Seattle get an unexpected concert from jazz band
Passengers on a flight from St. Louis to Seattle got an unexpected pick-me-up when jazz saxophonist Dave Koz and bandmates held an impromptu jam session in the aisle while the plane was stuck on the tarmac hundreds of miles from their final destination. It happened Aug. 11, when Koz and fellow musicians on the Dave Koz & Friends Summer Horns Tour were headed to Seattle for two days of shows. What was supposed to be a direct flight was beset by delays, including having to divert to Boise, Idaho, after flight crew members timed out and needed to be relieved, and the plane encountered a mechanical issue, Koz said Tuesday.
