ITV The Chase host Bradley Walsh left confused by contestant's link
The Chase viewers rushed to social media to share their thoughts after they saw the latest batch of contestants on the ITV show
The Chase enthusiasts didn't miss a beat when they noticed an amusing connection between the contestants' names on the show.
The latest episode featured four fresh contenders, Alvin, Simone, Theo, and Dave, ready to face off against one of Britain's top quiz maestros for a sizeable cash prize.
Bradley Walsh welcomed them onto the ITV programme. The foursome, strangers until the show, hoped to outwit the Chaser—Shaun Wallace, aka 'The Dark Destroyer'.
However, eagle-eyed viewers were quick to take to social media to highlight the humorous coincidence among the player's names. A viewer was amused by the "Chipmunks reference", while another chortled: "Are they all Chipmunks?"
A third added: "It's the Chipmunks. Dave, and then Alvin, Simon, Theodore!" And yet another remarked: "Alvin, Simone and Theo on The Chase. They knew what they were doing there right? Please tell me they did."
The Chaser Shaun also caught onto the reference commenting: "It's the cast of Alvin and the Chipmunks." Host Bradley responded: "I'm sorry I've never seen that, that was completely lost on me," reports the Liverpool Echo.
In the beloved 2007 family flick, three chipmunks with a knack for singing—Alvin, Simon, and Theodore—set their sights on stardom in the music world, under the care of Dave Seville until discovered by a music producer.
Viewers couldn't help but chuckle at the coincidence of Alvin, Simone, Theo, and Dave appearing together on 'The Chase'.
However, this isn't the first occasion the series has seen a group of contestants with intriguingly interconnected names.
An episode recently had viewers chuckling with an Avengers twist, featuring players named Tony, Steve, Thor, and Natasha, a fact that didn't go unnoticed by fans or The Menace who made a quip on the matter. Earlier in the year, a "cheesy" event occurred when eagle-eyed viewers spotted names resembling cheeses - think Gordon Ola as Gorgonzola and Leslie Dale for Wensleydale on the popular ITV quiz programme.
On his regular quest for knowledge, Shaun faced off against Dave from Northumberland, who notched up £7,000 in the Cash Builder and nabbed a spot in the finale following an impressive round.
Theo was eager to match Dave's success; however, after a nail-biting quick-fire session, Theo was eliminated by The Dark Destroyer's swift takedowns. Simone crossed the pond from the USA for her chance at quiz glory. She chose caution over risk and brought back a modest £1,000 to the pot.
With high hopes, Alvin stepped up as the last contestant aiming to reach the final but found his efforts thwarted by The Chaser's relentless pursuit.
In a tense final chase, Simone and Dave could only muster an 11-point lead, insufficient to best The Dark Destroyer who sent them home with over half a minute spare, ensuring they left with nothing but the experience.

Holly Willoughby returns to ITV show as Netflix show axed after one season
Former host Holly Willoughby, alongside Stephen Mulhern, will appear in just one episode of the new six-part series when it airs later this year The second series of ITV's You Bet! will feature Holly Willoughby as a guest star rather than a presenter, as the show takes to the road across the UK. Hosted by Stephen Mulhern, the former hit 80s gameshow promises to be 'bigger and braver' than last year's first run. Each of the six episodes will have a panel of celebrities who must predict whether or not the plucky challenger will complete their task. As well as Holly, the celebrity panellists will include Zoe Ball, Rob Beckett, Alesha Dixon, Johnny Vegas, Alison Hammond, Josie Gibson, Danny Jones and Oti Mabuse. Others taking part are Rylan Clark, Judi Love, Josh Widdicombe. Alex Brooker Babatunde Aléshé, Eddie Kadi, Will Best, Nick Mohammed, AJ Odudu, Greg Rutherford and soap brothers Adam and Ryan Thomas. Presenter Stephen last month told the Mirror he was 'gutted' over Holly's departure but appreciated that she'd rung him to tell him that she was pulling out. After the demise of Dancing on Ice, which the pair also hosted together, Holly no longer has any TV shows on ITV. It has been reported that her Netflix show, Bear Hunt, in which celebrities tried to avoid capture by Bear Grylls, is not returning. Stephen said: 'It'll be interesting to see what Holly's going to do next really. I don't know what. 'I'm gutted she's not doing You Bet - but I've had time to think about it. We've filmed one episode already and it felt very comfortable and it felt good. And I think maybe it is just a one presenter show. 'Bruce Forsyth was the first person to do it, and he did it on his own. Matthew Kelly made it the best show on the telly. So maybe it's happened for the right reasons.' On the new show - You Bet on Tour - he added: 'This time we're hitting the road! Each week I'll be joined by a top celeb panel, as our challengers take on some brilliantly bonkers and amazing challenges. With the title of You Bet Champion on the line, it's going to be unbelievable from the start.'

Coronation Street star teases new arrival for one family after plea from fans
Coronation Street's Betsy Swain actress Sydney Martin is very aware about fans' hopes for a new addition to the Swain family, and she's completely backing it for the ITV soap If one Coronation Street favourite gets her way, and viewers, there could be a new addition to the ITV soap. One family in particular could be about to get a new arrival, one cast member is hoping, but who could it be? The family in question is the Swains, amid them forming quite the dynamic with Carla Connor and her household. But could the infamous Swain cat, teased by Betsy Swain in a past scene and then called for by viewers, finally make an appearance? Betsy actress Sydney Martin certainly hopes so, telling The Mirror at the British Soap Awards all about it. While she joked about the origins of the potential feline, which may or may not exist, Sydney confessed she would love to see a cat make an appearance. Her co-star Cait Fitton, who plays Betsy's pal Lauren Bolton, agreed and even offered to play cat sitter. Sydney shared: "Where is the cat? I mentioned a cat and I'm feeling now that it may have been a metaphor. I said something like she loves the cat more than me, so where is the Swain cat? "I hope one day it makes an appearance." Cait then backed this saying: "We can get a cat. We can bring it onto set and go there's the cat." In terms of what to call the hypothetical pet, we suggested Bauren - the name Cait and Sydney gave their characters Betsy and Lauren's budding friendship. Rather hilariously, Cait thought we said "Warren" so that could be the winner here. The actress is very keen to help look after the Swain cat though, while she did point out a potential problem. Offering to cat sit for the family, she said: "I'll cat sit unless Frankie is allergic to cats, cos then I can't." As we later spoke with Sydney about the growing family dynamic with Lisa, Betsy, Carla and others, Sydney vowed it would keep "growing". Of course the hypothetical cat was mentioned once more, with her saying: "It's growing... and a cat. I haven't forgotten the cat." Sydney also praised Corrie boss Kate Brooks for developing strong families and friendships, which she said was key to the ITV soap. Speaking of her own onscreen family, she shared: "It's a beautiful dynamic and it works so well." Asked what was ahead for her character, Sydney confessed she doesn't even ask bosses what's on the way. She joked: "We don't ask we just go with the flow, it's like 'what are we doing next week?'." With the crossover with Emmerdale coming up too, Cait reckons Lauren wouldn't fit in in the Dales, but she'd love to see Cain Dingle have it out with David Platt. Cait also revealed that the stuff with Lauren and Betsy almost didn't happen. Corrie boss Kate added it into an episode as a trial run not knowing what to expect, but soon it proved to be a hit and Kate "loved it".
