CAIRO - 28 April 2025: Egyptian Minister of Labor, Mohammad Gebran, announced Monday, that Thursday, May 1, 2025, will be an official paid holiday on the occasion of Labor Day for private sector workers subject to the provisions of the Labor Law.
Employers are entitled to employ workers on this day if work conditions so require. In this case, the worker is entitled to double his or her wage for that day, in addition to his or her wage for that day.
The Ministry issued Circular No. 9 of 2025, granting workers subject to the provisions of Labor Law No. 12 of 2003 an official paid holiday on the occasion of Labor Day.
Accordingly, the heads of the central departments within the Ministry's headquarters and the directors of labor directorates—each within their respective jurisdictions—are committed to disseminating the provisions of this circular at work and production sites to ensure compliance and to draw attention to its implementation.
This book is issued in implementation of Article 52 of Labor Law No. 12 of 2003, which states: "Private sector workers are entitled to fully paid leave for official holidays and occasions determined by a decision issued by the Minister of Labor." This is in light of the issuance of Decision No. 49 of 2009 by the Minister of Manpower and Immigration regarding the days of holidays that are considered fully paid leave for workers.

Malaysia Increases Coal-Fired Power Output amid Surging Energy Demand from Data Centres

Yara Sameh Malaysia is increasing coal-fired power generation and importing record levels of coal to meet rapidly growing electricity demand, particularly from the expanding data centre sector, according to Vietnam News Agency (VNA), a partner of TV BRICS. Although the country remains one of the world's largest exporters of liquefied natural gas, Malaysian authorities have indicated that imports may become necessary due to rising domestic demand and declining gas reserves. Official data shows that coal-fired power output in Malaysia, where around 80 per cent of national electricity demand is concentrated, rose by nearly 9 per cent in May and June 2025. This increase is three times higher than the overall power demand growth of 3 per cent during the same period. In the first half of July, coal-fired generation surged by 16.8 per cent year-on-year, while total electricity demand grew by 5.2 per cent, underlining the rising share of coal in the country's energy mix. By 2030, the government aims to increase gas-fired power generation capacity by 50 per cent and more than double its renewable energy capacity. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to accommodate the projected rise in electricity consumption from data centres, which are expected to account for 52 per cent of Malaysia's power demand by the end of the decade, up from just 2 per cent today read more CBE: Deposits in Local Currency Hit EGP 5.25 Trillion Morocco Plans to Spend $1 Billion to Mitigate Drought Effect Gov't Approves Final Version of State Ownership Policy Document Egypt's Economy Expected to Grow 5% by the end of 2022/23- Minister Qatar Agrees to Supply Germany with LNG for 15 Years Business Oil Prices Descend amid Anticipation of Additional US Strategic Petroleum Reserves Business Suez Canal Records $704 Million, Historically Highest Monthly Revenue Business Egypt's Stock Exchange Earns EGP 4.9 Billion on Tuesday Business Wheat delivery season commences on April 15 News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" Arts & Culture Hawass Foundation Launches 1st Course to Teach Ancient Egyptian Language

Indonesia Introduces Innovative Earthquake-proof Building Design

Nada Mustafa Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has introduced a new earthquake-resistant building design featuring state-of-the-art damping technology, according to TV BRICS. The new technology is capable of withstanding tremors up to magnitude 8.8, the design marks a major step forward in the country's disaster-resilient infrastructure, as reported by the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), a partner of TV BRICS. The BMKG highlighted that the technology enables multi-storey buildings to remain stable during powerful earthquakes. The agency noted this is the first time such an innovation will be used in Indonesia and expressed optimism that it would set a new standard for construction in high-risk seismic zones. Although the BMKG does not oversee public building projects, it hopes the initiative will inspire wider adoption. The technology has already been implemented in the BMKG's own headquarters in Jakarta, housing the nation's Multi-hazard Early Warning System. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" Arts & Culture Hawass Foundation Launches 1st Course to Teach Ancient Egyptian Language

Sisi Reaffirms Egypt's Firm Rejection of Palestinian Displacement, Calls for Peaceful Resolution

Nada Mustafa President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has reaffirmed Egypt's clear and unwavering stance in rejecting the displacement of the Palestinian people, warning that such a move would undermine the concept of a two-state solution and peaceful resolution to the conflict. Speaking in a televised address on the situation in Gaza, President Sisi stressed the importance of reiterating Egypt's position on the war in the Gaza Strip. 'I am saying this now, in particular, because there is a lot being said. It's important that people are reminded of Egypt's consistent and constructive positions calling for an end to the war, the realization of the two-state solution, and a peaceful settlement to the Palestinian cause,' he stated. Addressing the Egyptian people and audiences across the Arab region and the world, President Sisi said, "Since October 7, we have been actively engaged with our partners in Qatar and United States to achieve three objectives: stopping the war, allowing humanitarian aid to enter Gaza, and securing the release of hostages.' Moreover, Sisi's remarks reaffirm Egypt's diplomatic efforts and its long-standing support for a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" Arts & Culture Hawass Foundation Launches 1st Course to Teach Ancient Egyptian Language
