LIC launches special campaign to revive lapsed policies

Agency: New Delhi, Aug 18 (PTI) Insurance behemoth Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) on Monday announced the launch of a month-long campaign for revival of individual lapsed policies. This special drive, to be carried out from August 18 to October 17, 2025, is extended to all non-linked policies with very attractive concession in late fee. Concession is being offered in late fee for all Non-Linked Insurance Plans up to 30 per cent of late fee up to a maximum amount of Rs 5,000 if eligible for revival under the scheme, LIC said in a statement. There is a 100 per cent waiver of late fee for Micro Insurance Policies to facilitate affordable restoration of risk cover, it said. Under this Special Revival Campaign, policies can be revived within 5 years from date of the first unpaid premium subject to satisfying the policy terms and conditions, it said. Policies which are in a lapsed condition during the premium paying term and not completed policy term are eligible to be revived in this campaign. There are no concessions on medical/health requirements, it said. The campaign is launched for the benefit of policyholders who were not able to pay premiums on time due to any unfavourable circumstances and policies must be kept in force to get full insurance benefit, the statement added. 'It is always advisable to revive an old policy and restore insurance cover. LIC values its policyholders and their desire to stay protected for the well being of their family members," it said. Jaishankar Meets Wang Yi, Says India And China Looking To Move Past 'Difficult Period'

The EAM also highlighted the need for maintaining and enhancing stability in the global economy in the current environment External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday met his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi for bilateral talks in New Delhi. In his opening remarks at the meeting in New Delhi, Jaishankar said that both nations now seek to move ahead after a 'difficult period" in the bilateral ties. The bilateral ties hit rock bottom following the deadly Galwan Valley clashes in 2020. After nearly four years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping met in the Russian city of Kazan on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in October last year, reviving various dialogue mechanisms between the two sides. 'Having seen a difficult period in our relationship, our two nations now seek to move ahead. This requires a candid and constructive approach from both sides," Jaishankar said while underlining that differences must not become disputes. The EAM also highlighted the need for maintaining and enhancing stability in the global economy in the current environment. 'I welcome you and your delegation to India at the start of your visit for the 24th round of talks between the Special Representatives of India and China. This is also the first visit by a Chinese Minister since our leaders met in Kazan in October 2024. This occasion provides us with an opportunity to meet and review our bilateral ties. It is also an approrpriate time to exchange views on the global situation and some issues of mutual interest," he said. Wang's visit comes days ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's planned trip to China to attend the annual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). The Chinese foreign minister is visiting India primarily to hold the next round of Special Representatives' (SR) dialogue on the boundary question with National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval. The Chinese foreign minister's trip is also seen as important as it comes amid increasing tensions in India-US relations following President Donald Trump doubling tariffs on Indian goods to 50 per cent which included an additional penalty of 25 per cent for purchasing Russian crude oil. Wang and NSA Doval are scheduled to hold a new edition of SR dialogue on the boundary question at 11 am on Tuesday. According to the MEA, Wang will call on PM Modi at his 7 Lok Kalyan Marg residence at 5:30 pm on Tuesday. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
