Las Vegas Aces forward A'ja Wilson added another historic milestone to her remarkable career on Wednesday night. She has become the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 5,000 career points.
The achievement came during the Aces' commanding 85-59 win over the Connecticut Sun at Michelob Ultra Arena. Wilson needed just 238 games to hit the mark. She surpassed the previous record held by Breanna Stewart, who reached the milestone in 242 games.

The moment arrived with 4:04 remaining in the second quarter, when A'ja Wilson knocked down a mid-range jumper from the left elbow. It was her eighth point of the night and the one that officially pushed her past the 5,000-point threshold.
Fans in Las Vegas erupted with applause, many waving signs emblazoned with '5,000,' as Wilson remained composed, acknowledging the moment quietly while receiving hugs from teammates and even some Sun players.
Wilson finished the game with 22 points, bringing her career total to 5,015. According to ESPN, the 28-year-old forward is only the 28th player in WNBA history to cross the 5,000-point mark. In doing so, she joins an elite group that includes Diana Taurasi and Angel McCoughtry, and now ranks just behind Taj McWilliams-Franklin on the league's all-time scoring list.
Wilson has been a force in the 2024 season. Entering Wednesday's game, she ranked second in the league in scoring with 21.1 points per game and second in rebounding with 9.8 per game. She's the only player in the top five across scoring, rebounding, steals, and blocks.
The Aces, now 7-7, opened the game with a blistering 19-0 run. Jackie Young added 20 points, Chelsea Gray chipped in 15 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and three blocks, while Jewell Loyd added 13. Connecticut, meanwhile, struggled mightily, shooting just 32% from the field and a dismal 15% from three-point range. Tina Charles led the Sun with 18 points.

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe accuses PSG of 'moral harassment'; legal probe underway

Mbappe left PSG to join Real Madrid ahead of the 2024/25 season (Photo by) France captain Kylian Mbappe has filed a legal complaint accusing former club Paris Saint-Germain of "moral harassment", according to the Paris prosecutor's office, which confirmed on Thursday that an investigation into the matter has been opened. The 26-year-old, who officially joined Real Madrid this summer after a prolific seven-year spell with PSG, is also in a legal tussle with the French champions over unpaid dues. Mbappe is seeking €55 million ($64.4 million) in unpaid wages and bonuses from the club. Mbappe's latest grievance stems from how he was treated during the early stages of the 2023–24 season. According to the complaint, the striker was excluded from the first-team setup and made to train separately with players PSG were actively looking to offload — a move he believes was punitive after he declined to extend his contract with the club. The issue echoes broader concerns about contract-related coercion in football, a topic that has previously drawn attention from the French players' union, which lodged a formal complaint in a similar context last year. The legal action adds another layer of tension to Mbappe's departure from the French capital, where he scored 256 goals in 308 appearances and won numerous domestic titles. Notably, PSG lifted the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history just weeks after his exit.
