Jin Young Ko, Rose Zhang lead list of notables who missed the cut at 2025 Ford Championship
CHANDLER, Ariz. — It's the best field the LPGA has had so far in 2025. The 2025 Ford Championship started with every one of the top 10, 19 of the top 20 and 40 of the 50 players in the Rolex Rankings.
After 36 holes, nine of those top 10 golfers have advanced to the weekend with six in the top 10.
The cut Friday came in at 4 under, and that meant quite a few notable names didn't secure weekend tee times. It also meant time to turn in the keys to the vehicles that the Arizona Ford Dealers made available for free for all the players in the tournament.
Notables who missed the cut at 2025 Ford Championship
The lone top-10 player to end her week short is eighth-ranked Jin Young Ko. She rallied late Thursday with a birdie-eagle finish to get to even par but didn't parlay that into a much-needed low second-round score. While she did eagle the 17th hole Friday, she also carded three bogeys and two double bogeys to shoot a 1-over 73.
Georgia Hall shot 4 under Friday, but her 2 over Thursday round did her in this week.
Stacy Lewis had a similar week, opening 3 over and then going 5 under but she too came up short.
Anna Nordqvist, who played college golf up the road at Arizona State and who was recently named the European captain for the 2026 Solheim Cup, shot consecutive 72s to finish even par.
Rio Takeda won the Blue Bay LPGA three weeks ago, the last event before this week, but scores of 69 and 75 will keep her away from the weekend.
Rose Zhang, playing in her first event since finishing her most recent term at Stanford and just her second this season, shot 73-71 to finish her week even par.

With fresh mentality and new wedges, Brooke Henderson tries to end victory drought in Canada
At this time last year, Brooke Henderson had lost count of how many different putters she'd had in the bag. The number is down this year, though there have been changes of late. She put in a new putter two weeks ago, and noted during her pre-tournament press conference on Tuesday that she'd be changing again later that afternoon. Still a TaylorMade Spider X but with a different grip and weight. Also on Tuesday morning, she put brand new TaylorMade wedges in the bag and said they perform better than her old ones in wet conditions. Anything that can get her closer to victory, something she hasn't tasted in two and half years. "I feel like I've been saying it for a really long time," Henderson told the media at the CPKC Women's Open at Mississaugua Golf and Country Club in Ontario, Canada. "You're probably getting annoyed with it a little bit, but I am definitely trending in the right direction and it is super close to being really good again, which is really exciting." To help, Henderson dug up old clips of when she was 14 years old, playing in her first Canadian Open. She won the event in 2018, which felt like major. Even making the cut as a youngster in her home Open felt "super cool." "Yeah, just trying to like think back like what was going through my mind when I was answering those questions back then or out there playing," said Henderson. "It's been cool. I just did that yesterday afternoon. Maybe it was the red eye or the jet lag talking, but I really enjoyed it." She played more freely as a youngster, as do most, and had a hunger to learn. She's still that way, realizing that sometimes less is more. There was a time when she played in as many as 30 events a year. She's cut back now to around 25. Canada's most decorated golfer with 13 LPGA titles, Henderson has sprinkled in top-15 finishes throughout 2025 but has yet to truly contend. The two-time major winner ranks 53rd on the CME points list and is 58th in the Rolex Rankings. "For a while, the ball-striking was a bit of an issue," said Henderson, who works with her father Dave. "I feel like we worked diligently on that, and it's back to a better spot. "So just piecing everything together. Golf is hard, and I found that out more recently than I ever have. Just trying to take it day by day, figuring it out. I think mentality for me is the No. 1 thing, trying to get back to the mental strength I had previous years."

It's just reward for his performances in the season just gone, having contributed 29 goals and 18 assists during the Reds' title success. WHO ELSE WAS NOMINATED? As well as Fernandes and Isak, Salah also edged fellow nominees Declan Rice, Cole Palmer and Alexis Mac Allister to claim the gong. Isak, who is currently pining for a move to Anfield, was the second top scorer behind Salah, while Rice was a leading figure as Arsenal came up short in their domestic and European challenges. Palmer was again incredibly productive in front of goal despite a quieter end to the campaign, while Mac Allister formed part of a formidable Liverpool midfield combination alongside Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai. Fernandes, meanwhile, was a bright light in an otherwise dismal campaign for Manchester United, supplying eight goals and ten assists in the Premier League. THE BIGGER PICTURE Among the other award winners were Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers, who claimed the PFA Young Player of the Year gong, and Mariona Caldentey, who picked up the main prize for the Women's Super League, while James Trafford, now of Manchester City, claimed the Championship's Player of the Year trophy after a brilliant season with Burnley. The PFA Awards are handed out by the Professional Footballers' Association. The Players' Player of the Year winner is decided by a first vote which narrows the options down to a shortlist before another vote which then determines who picks up the trophy. Players cannot vote for their own club team-mates. WHAT NEXT? Salah's future was the subject of much speculation last season but he ignored all the off-field talk and put in brilliant performances week after week before signing a contract extension at Anfield. With both his future and personal silverware secured, next up for Salah and Liverpool after their opening victory over Bournemouth is a trip to Newcastle on Monday night.

It is worth noting that the reasons he left have been lifted, namely director of sport Cristiano Giuntoli, and his salary worth €7.5m per season. Damien Comolli is now in charge of the Bianconeri's transfer strategy, and the player's wages at Marseille are said to be worth €3.5m per season plus €2m in performance-related bonuses.
